The best thing about this game is seeing the stands completely full. This may be an attendance record for that stadium.

Considering the southern end zone remodel/build out was completed just before this season and this is the 2nd sell out in a row, but this is a much better matchup and I was told that it was SMU’s homecoming (whatever that means in college), so I absolutely think that tonight is an attendance record for this stadium.

This was an ass-kicking. Well done SMU.

I still think Pitt is a good football team but, there are some glaring, mostly on offense, issues; OL needs to be much better, can’t run the ball, third down play calling has been very questionable, the play calling needs to adjust when there is not a lot of time for deep passing routes, the defense was gashed as well.

Miami and SMU are now on a collision course. Pittsburgh and Clemson have been removed from the equation.

At one time, two of my most hated teams in CFB.  SMU has done its penance and I no longer have any problem with them.  Miami, on the other hand  . . . .

I didn’t see SMU beating Pitt that bad especially since I thought Pitt would win.

I did not think we were going to win against SMU. I just didn't and I said as much to my brother yesterday when I took the ribs off the smoker. SMU just played at a different speed than we did. And, they are a really good team. I always liked Lashlee, and I thought at Auburn he kind of got a raw deal but, most coaches do there.

As for SMU I do think they did one thing very badly yesterday.

Those blue uniform pants were awful. They have a perfectly nice, clean and sharp uniform and they shouldn't fuck it up with stupid blue pants. Same for Pitt and the stupid white pants.

Just dumb.

At least my ribs turned out really well.

Ribs look awesome.  I saw Pitt play some previous games and was impressed but see the game yesterday.  I’m a state of Texas homer (except aggy and Baylor), so will pull for SMU going forward.

They were good. I don't wrap them or anything. I used a simple rub of seasoned salt, paprika and brown sugar. Three hours at 220F on the smoker and once an hour I spritzed them with an Orange Fanta/Rice Vinegar mix. The last 45 minutes just a thin brushing of BBQ sauce. I like a bit of a dry bark on my ribs.

Agree. We have so many great looks - don't understand the blue on blue.

1.  Baylor

I've never loathed Baylor. Their fans don't seem annoying the way aggy/Tech are and their football success was flash-in-the-pan and we still had a good record against them during that stretch.

Their bball team that won the title was frankly too badass for me to hate as a basketball nerd. Those dudes went in and kicked the shit out of everyone. Yeah Scott Drew is a PoS but who isn't among those guys.

Scumbag institution and there's definitely some prejudice on my part if I find out someone went there but their sports teams have never gotten all the way under my skin. YMMV.

Waco, however, #1 on my piece-of-shit worthless cities in Texas that I've had to drive through way too many times list.

My parents were Southern Baptist zealots.

My grandparents were for awhile. Then they started drinking in their late 20s and raised my dad and his siblings Episcopal or Presbyterian or some shit. I grew up Methodist and had a positive experience with it. The UMC gave me $5k a year to attend SMU at like 3% then got out of the student loan game and waived what I owed a few years back.

I'm not a fan of Baylor. I just think aggy is more annoying and Tech has had a larger part in ruining Texas football seasons.

Frankly, I like OU fans and grads better than most TCU/Tech/aggy fans - but their sports teams I hate the most. Everyone has their own personal experiences and timelines that color this stuff differently.

Georgia is rapidly ascending my hate list.

The two biggest problems with Baylor fans were:

1 - Their insufferable arrogance during their big run, crowing like the world had turned and we would forever be beneath them going forward

2 - Their cult-luke defense of Briles and absolute refusal to accept the truth about what a piece of shit, lying, cheating, misogynistic scumbag he is.

#2 I get. #1 I either don't remember that fan behavior or don't recognize as a "big run". I mean what did they do - get a Heisman on a 3 loss team and split a couple of shitty conference titles?

Again - personal experiences. Can't say i know a lot of Baylor fans/grads.

SMU getting salty

I mean, "can" is doing a lot of lifting in that sentence.  But if they were healthy (which is to say, with R.J. Maryland), it's not wrong to say that they could win a game against Texas.  They wouldn't be favored to win.  But if they played that game ten times, they might win three.  And really--those aren't terrible odds.

I think it’s funny how there is a contingent of SMU fans focused on Texas. They haven’t played the Longhorns in almost 30 years, and they still see Texas as the rival that held them down.

I have to tell you--I'm not particularly clued in on the SMU fanbase as a whole, and I certainly cannot speak to every contingent out there.  But wouldn't it make sense for them to be focused on Texas right now?  Texas is quite clearly the best team and the best program in the state.  So I don't see it as fantasizing about some perceived rivalry as much as it is wanting to challenge for the top spot.
