we still should have some explosive plays if Quinn/Arch can identify the blitz.. We know Elko is going to bring everything

Elkos entire game plan will be the same as their recruiting strategy.  They might as well just send their dline out for the game and leave everyone else on the bench.  That's how he'll plan to win.

Sark will obviously know this as well, the question is what he does about it.  Hopefully not what we tried against Georgia.

Loved the outcome of this game, but I don’t think Texas can duplicate much of what SoCar did on offense. Their best play was just letting Sellers run around the pocket. How many times did he shake an untouched blitzer from A&m? QB run killed them.  They ran well with Sanders, but Texas doesn’t have a RB like that (now that Sanders is healthy).

Yeah even with Arch it is his top speed that makes him mobile QB, has he shown the twitch needed to force missed tackles? Their DL feasted just that they derped their way into typical aggie humiliation. That said their offense is downright pitiful.

Wow, all the way back to 2000 huh? Check 1999.

Also, 1990, the Shock the Nation tour...we beat aggy by 1 point because those dumbfucks went for 2 after their last TD and got stuffed at the line. Then they screamed for years that CBS cameras/BOMC broadcast the brilliant secret 2 point play plan from the aggy sideline, which is the only way they could have lost.

Nobody wants to include the dark ages but yeah the better team won those contests back then for 9 straight years? including shock the nation.

I disagree. If Gibson is given some carries that’ll help up the middle and the other backs are great in space and I think Scar showed A&M isn’t that good on the perimeter. Blue and Wisner could have good nights outside the tackles in the screen and swing pass game. A mediocre QE is a bigger threat in the passing game than Sellers. True Sellers moved better and A&Ms DL will get theirs but I think the Texas D and the offense will do enough to win.

Does Gibson still play for us?

Not saying Texas can’t beat A&M. I am saying that Texas can’t duplicate a lot of what the Cocks did to the A&M defense. Texas is going to have to attack A&M in different ways.

Texas can get on the perimeter like SCar though. Sellers threw a number of swing and screen passes that went for yards.

Lot of those off Sellers scrambling. He had A&M’s head spinning. Hard for LBs to cover and keep an eye on the QB. Missed tackles were a huge problem for A&M. Unless they play at a level we have not seen before that won’t be an issue vs Ewers and the Texas RBs

A&M's SEC schedule was just pitiful.

I think LSU will lose 1 or 2 more games. I think the top 6 SEC teams (in no particular order) could end up being Georgia, Tennessee, A&M, Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss.

They may only have to play 1 of these teams and it's a home game. This schedule could not have been more perfect for them.

Nah Texas has the weak schedule bruh…

You serious? SC beat them outside.  That’s one thing Texas can do.

we don’t have the slippery QB and power Runner(unless Gibson plays)

But even Ewers can be more accurate than sellers once he gets going  and Texas has more speed and better receivers than SC for sure

Bro you literally are Ignoring the full on. RB outside runs and sweeps. That had nothing to do with the QB escaping.

no they don’t have the freak show QB specimen to shrug off tackles.

but they do have as much if not more speed outside and can run that way pretty well.

Yes, Texas is much more capable of carving up the A&M defense. They are going to protect much better than the Cocks did though.

I am not ignoring those. Texas isn’t running OZ particularly well. Texas hasn’t run the ball well this year. It’s a different dynamic, when a defense has to worry about QB run.

No doubt sellers is a different Qb but I think what scar doesn’t do and their offensive play calling that was shit hurt them and they still scored 44. As long as QE doesn’t shit the bed Texas will be fine. Scar is a physical but bad team and they stomped them. I think a home game for aggy is probably the bigger issue than x and o match ups. Texas should on paper and match ups whip their ass and if a focused Texas shows up and QE doesn’t fuck it up not worried.

After our last few games against decent defenses, I feel like teams are anticipating us struggling to run and scheming more for these perimeter plays.  Our WRs haven't been blocking as well and they've been getting blown up more frequently now, which I think is contributing a lot to some of our offensive struggles.

I'm hoping sark is using the bye week to self scout and come up with some different answers for us struggling to run.  We need an answer as part of our game plan, but the blueprint is out now for how to stop our current approach and we have some good defenses coming up who will be prepared.

He may be celebrating. Isn't he a South Carolina grad, even though he writes about aggy?

Looks like, but I don't think anyone definitively established the ties to either school. If I recall correctly he may have done grad school in South Carolina. But now, as part of the sleuthing efforts, I have been rewarded with ongoing Facebook suggestions that I friend him.

I’m assuming (big assumption) that elko and staff are competent enough to emphasize edge stuff the next 2 weeks. I believe sark will have a plan to use that against them.

Such creative debates here. If anyone is wondering, our athletes are better than South Carolina’s.

Overall, I agree. You are under appreciating Scar’s athletes. Sellers is a big athletic QB. Sanders is a much better RB. Nyck Harbor is an absolute freak show at receiver/Te. He is NFL freaky. Their edges are NFL athletes also..

Ewers was really good on 5-15 yard throws last year and he has been exceptionally bad in that area since coming back from his injury. Screens and horizontal throws are always going to be a part of Sark's offense, but it does require verticality in the passing game for those plays to work and I agree with your assessment as to the perimeter plays not being as successful. Ewers has to sack up and start playing better or else teams are going to continue to scheme to take away the perimeter plays.

For the love of satan....and the hundredth time....the fucking records and talent means jack shit in this game.

In 2005 when we were fuck stomping everyone to death on the way to a MNC, we scraped by with an 11 point win at pyle field. And it was closer than the final score shows.

Aggy had 5 wins that year and no bowl. This game is their MNC. Every. Fucking. Year.

It was an 11 point win because we never doubted we would beat them so our gameplan included keeping VY in the pocket so as not to risk injury. We were playing to win a national championship, not to beat those goobers.

We made no effort to destroy them. We clocked in, clocked out, and went home with the W.

We won the game by one point because we ran the clock out by kneeling inside their 10 yard line for several plays instead of scoring another touchdown. They had no say in the matter.

No, because he can’t pass block so every time he’s in the game the D knows it’s a run

This Aug 23rd info from Bobby Burton says Gibson can pass block...

BURTON:

One thing Fozzy said last night that caught my ear. Fozzy said he was talking to Tashard Choice last week. And Choice told him that Jerrick Gibson is the best pass protector of the bunch.

From Fozzy's mouth to God's ear.

Hope that proves to be the case this year because Quinn Ewers needs a big back to step up in that role.

and because we protected VY (long term the best decision) it specifically meant that a sick VY who "only" had 1 passing TD, and "just" 225 combined passing/ rush yards, two fumbles (1 lost) and throwing an interception, against a conference arch-rival meant he clearly was not worthy of being considered for the heisman when compared to the 500 yards Reggie Bush got (150 of them being return yards) because USC were in a fucking 50-42 final dog-fight against G-5 Fresno State.

Ah yes the old "pitch it to our best RB to the strong side" play. Who could have seen that coming?

Apparently aggy forgot about the TV 7 second delay, the play was over before it was on air as if we had a way to communicate it to begin with.  Morons

And SCAR is a bad official's call and coaching mistake away from beating LSU and Bama. Yes, Ole Miss worked them and they struggled early against ODU, but they aren't a piece of shit easy win for anyone. I like them to beat Missery, Wofford (bold call I know) and Clemson. All of which I think are worse teams and Vandy isn't a given loss. I think the Cocks likely end up 8 or 9 win team. They aren't great but they are a solid team AND they actually play special teams and won that aspect last night too. Good news is Texas has equally great special teams, right?

We didn’t watch the same game. A&M willingly gave the edge all night. Texas will destroy them on the perimeter if they try that shit.

Ahhh, the football board.

A&M's offense will be smothered by our defense. There will be sacks and likely turnovers as well as good field position despite their excellent punter.

Our OL will win some of the battles with their DL. Even on the plays where we don't, their DL is undisciplined at gap control.

Quinn will be a few more weeks from his injury and the jury will be in on whether he is ruined or back to standard. If he isn't, it's Arch. Last game of the season, he should be ready to takeover.

I don't think the totality of the Aggie defense (they're better than I thought they'd be) can deal with our powerful TE and all the receivers we flood the field with.

It's not a sure win by any means. But we'll be rightfully favored.

You guys praising the aggy defense are insane.  They are undisciplined, weak as shit on the edges and their secondary is slow to react and just plain slow (Sellars wasn't really the guy to take advantage of that last fact). They are fairly strong right up the middle, which from a running perspective we just don't do a whole lot of and from a passing perspective simply means our interior line needs to do it's job on pass pro (would help if RBs could improve a bit at that as well in the coming weeks).
