I guess. I am not saying they were perfect or anything.

But the idea that the Democrats can just play perfect politicalball and get it done when the Republicans can have mobs storming the castle is hard to justify.

It feels like we have to be perfect and they can do whatever.

Anyway I have no ability to shape any political apparatuses. So I guess I am stuck with whatever it can accomplish.

Maybe trying to veer to the right on key issues in order to court some mythical disaffected former Trump voter base wasn't the best idea in retrospect.

Luckily my medical research company HQs out of Colorado. Thinking about inquiring about relocation, but I'd need to wait until summer 2026 after my youngest daughter graduates.

It's a great place to live other than the obvious.  No gerrymandering. Constitutional ballots on the ballot (Abortion and Same-Sex Marriage) are in there permanently, or at least they should be.

But everyone has an AR-15, so the oligarchs better have their heads on a swivel, especially here in Texas ... so we have that going for us ... which is nice.

Yeah well I have a feeling the oligarchs can afford the military gear to make your AR-15 pretty pointless. This isn't the 18th century. Attack drones and other advanced military tech are going to be harder to take out than redcoats.

Whatever this country is full of hillbillies that are racist and sexist I know and can understand that, but how is Kamala Harris not a good candidate?

There in lies the problem….   One side calls the other what you said and generalizes everyone.  The other obviously calls that side names like libtards, burn their own city dumb, ect and ect bad names over and over….  But yet no one sees an issue now?  Yea both parties are definitely far apart now…. The only reason Trump ever wins is if this country is very devided on both sides. 🙄  Also @PenelopeWitherspoon screw you for negging any point you don’t agree with.  Is this not a wakeup call that things should change in both sides?

This attitude right here is probably the number one problem with this country.  Tonight just made this country more dangerous for a lot of people across the world.  It’s indisputable.  But you and me and the rest of the white guys will be just fine I guess. So what are we complaining about?

As a 51 year old white male who voted Blue this is the only sobering thought I have at this hour.

so it's looking like i may get some more fellow Texans as neighbors in CO then, right?

well...we will need to have our own HHs/watch parties🤘Choppers is fun...but it's too crowded and loud as fuck

Ha!  I was at Choppers for the Moo State game watching party.  That's a nice alum setup, even if the drive to Cherry Creek is fucked.

I'll be up in Larimer Co., hopefully by the summer.

I don't think anyone has ever gotten more shit they didn't deserve in life than Donald Trump. If he was a fictional character nobody would find it believable that he could avoid consequences at will and get elected twice while being so stupid and vile.

So at the end of the day, the most important issue to swing voters was inflation, so they rehired the guy responsible for the inflation.  In the end the rest of the issues are largely on the periphery.

My only solace in this whole evening is that as a white, upper middle class man in Texas, my life probably won’t change much under a Trump regime. I proudly voted for Kamala and my heart goes out to all those that will suffer in the next four years.
I really don’t know what you can do for a large part of the electorate that votes outside their economic interests, but I guess they’ll find out when Project 2025 outlaws OT and all that “tax free OT” promise goes out the window.

I used to think that way but it’s incredibly short sighted. The amount of damage that can be done during a second Trump term will impact everyone’s lives for years to come.

I have a daughter and women’s healthcare is on the chopping block and Trump may get to appoint 1-2 more justices, so any hope of making up ground there is gone, especially in Texas. Which means I either continue to live here and put her future at risk, or I pack up and leave the only place I’ve ever called home.

Not that it really matters because Trump RAPED a woman and he may win the popular vote, so people don’t actually give 2 fucks about women. Even women don’t seem to care about women because enough of them voted for him. Fuck, that’s depressing.

But suppose women’s issues aren’t important to you. There is a Russia/Ukraine war that will tip in favor of Russia. There’s no reason to think China won’t invade Taiwan. There’s the fact that RFK Jr. will have a major role in our country’s healthcare. There’s the very real possibility that Christian Nationalism will spread like wildfire. There’s climate change which we will now address with “drill baby drill.”

Your life will almost certainly get worse unless you identify as a white Christian male upper middle class homophobic misogynistic anti-vax climate denier.

The idea that there was this big centrist group waiting to be courted was always wrongheaded. Centrism died in 2016.

Again, it wasn't perfect but I don't know if there is some kind of messaging that could have carried the day.

It really might be as simple as Americans are not willing to elect a woman president.

But it's probably a lot of other things, too.

Being a woman of color certainly didn't help.

But it was always going to be an uphill battle. A hugely unpopular incumbent administration in what most perceive as a poor economy, fair or not.

CNN reporter just says only 100k ballots outstanding in Georgia vs Trump's 118k lead.  She then talked about what counties and which way they lead and didn't seem to understand than with those numbers it's done.

Pamela Brown is so stupid.  She's talking about 100k votes outstanding in GA and how they're likely to break down when the margin is 118k for Trump.  The guys tried to gently explain that this means it's over, and she still didn't get it.

I doubt that ends up in the top 10 reasons for this disaster. Moving towards the center in the general is pretty standard strategy.

Kamala is only the candidate because she had an argument to legally inherit Biden campaign funds.

Maybe separating yourself meaningfully from a highly unpopular administration that you were fucking part of would have been a good start?

You're not a moron, you're just selfish.

If Trump wins, you will take delight in every story about him deporting somebody who was here legally (and unless your 100% Native American, you most likely had relatives who came here in not-so-legal ways). You will take delight in Republicans going after the LBGTQ folks, including members of this very forum. You will take delight in the Trump administration fucking over poor people, fucking up Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. You will take delight in states prosecuting residents who go to other states for abortions, and in states restricting birth control, and nation-wide bans on abortion, porn, birth control, etc. in general.

Because none of that affects you.

1. My wife is a legal immigrant. So is my MIL, SIL and niece. Yup, I have a problem with illegal immigration. It took 20 years to immigrate my SIL and niece and a shitload of money.

2. I could not care less about the LBGTQ community. I hope that they are living their best life, but ultimately it’s not my problem or war to fight. I don’t agree that they should be afforded additional right beyond being able to marry and not get beat up or killed simply for being “different”

3. I’m on Medicare as a disabled American. (ESRD) I also collect SS. Any negative changes would impact me.

4. Again, not my problem. I had my kids and could not give 2 shits about yours or your ability to kill it legally.

5. Yeah, ok…

Anything else genius? You sure don’t know a lot of shit about me, obviously.

Democrats are so terrified of being labeled socialists they struggle to convince people who like their policies (a lot, in most cases) to vote for them.

It's bizarre.

I do like how you completely ignore all the good, rational points (that you have no real rebuttal for), so you can focus on the posts where someone says a mean thing to you.

This also means no one but the state had the any sense of the real numbers at all.  MSNBC is still reporting there are 369k pending, but tracking at the same percentages.  I overestimated the day of turnout several days ago, and the networks also were pretty much in line with that.  Turns out, both are overages by about 275k.

It bothers me a great deal that I have several cousins and a few friends who voted for this travesty.

I want to just disappear into the mountains with some dogs and like 3 sane people and cut everyone else off.  I don't think I'll be able to keep a poker face at Thanksgiving.

So when nothing happens with immigration including mass deportations since the corporate class relies on the labor will they be called out for their lies? No? Of course not. This country is despicable.

Stephen Miller has too much of a hard-on for immigrants that not to happen, not to mention Trump has been pushing it for too long.

And there will be fuckery at the state level the likes of which we haven't seen. Paxton will be actively going after women who try to leave for an abortion.

Europe, Taiwan, and Middle East are going to pop off big time.

China might go after Taiwan, because he loves Xi and because he believes that Xi would never do it, up until Xi does it, and then he won't realize the geopolitical and financial ramifications of doing nothing.  With that said, China still doesn't quite have the forces/infrastructure it needs to do a massive invasion over 100 miles of open water.

Europe will be fine - as I said, Putin is about tapped out on manpower and doesn't have the infrastructure (both localized/wheeled and strategic - railway/naval/air).  Shit, he doesn't even have the infrastructure to take Kyiv or Odesa or retake Kherson at this point. It would take him years to build up the transportation that he needs to go into another country, and NATO has been building up since the 2022 invasion and NATO armament production has ramped up considerably since 2022.

Plus NATO has about 630 million people without the US, and Russia is a country of 140 million (maybe a lot less, lot of speculation that their public demographic numbers don't make sense).

Trump might be unpredictable if Putin was able to invade NATO, because the world and the Democrats would mock Trump for being weak and he fucking loathes being called weak and he wants the world's media to say Bigly things about himself.
