Some of ya'll need to step away from the ledge. Take a break from the fear mongering and propaganda. Everyone survived the last Trump presidency. Everyone will survive the next four years.

All of the guardrails that kept him in check in his first term will not be there this time.  He is not going to try and hire competent people like last time.  He's only going to hire people who will do whatever he says.  They have a plan to remove everyone who isn't a loyalist from the government jobs.  The Supreme Court has already said they'll rubber stamp any official action.  There will be nobody to stop him from doing anything he wants.  The GOP will not impeach him.  He will be in charge of the military.  SCOTUS is in his pocket and he'll get to appoint at least 2 more judges.  This term will be completely different.  We may be a dictatorship in all but name.  So no, just because we survived the first term does not mean we will survive the second.

You'll be fine, I promise. God bless.

No response to this?

Well, not everyone. Not even close. But yes, most. And we will have a new President in 2028. Between now and then, Ukraine will almost certainly be abandoned. Russia will regain their strength and be more meddlesome than ever. Harlan and Koch will pay off Thomas and Alito to retire early so evangelical Trump appointees can make up 5 of 9 SC seats for a generation. I'll let you decide what that means for LGBTQ rights.

So, not the end of the world. But pretty damn shitty.

Do you think he'll actually make an attempt at mass deportation, or are those just empty campaign promises?

It might not have mattered anyway the way this transpired but more blame rests with Joe Biden for not announcing he's not running by mid-2023 to set up an open Primary than anyone else. Country's fucked. We'll see how much of dangerous erratic decision-making we get versus Project 2025. Probably the worst of both.

tomorrow, the sun will rise.

Joe Biden will still be president tomorrow. It's post inauguration that people are concerned with.

To tell people they shouldn't be concerned when Trump himself says he has a day 1 agenda of vengeance planned is actually silly.

That's a whole lot of fear mongering. I remember when Trump was going to launch nukes day 1 of his last term.

What's he going to do with all that unstoppable power, with no checks and balances? We invading Mexico? He's probably going to sell California to Putin, right?

Kamala about to get blown out in the EC and popular vote. They haven’t even called NJ yet.  The Dems have a lot of soul searching to do for 2028 as to who can recapture and build upon Biden’s 2020 coalition.

Michelle is your best shot at getting a woman in there.

He’s white, he isn’t worried about that

Sorry -- if you're getting social security and are an ESRD patient. You're most likely getting ~ 120k in govt support per year.

Most ESRD in the US is from diseases that could be attributed to "bad life choices," diabetes and hypertension. I don't know if that's your situation, but if it is, please understand, I'm not judging you. I hope you're doing well and listed for transplantation. But I hope you'd understand that the "bad life choices" others may have made come with context also.

In that ballpark. Only $65K comes from SSDI. The rest comes from Unum and residuals from stocks

I mean they literally took healthcare choices away from women. No big deal though.

That's a lot of strawmen. I never once thought he was going to invade Mexico, sell California, or launch nukes.

I only take him at his word, that he will do what he promised to do. That's my concern dude. Now it might be worse or not than that.

But either way it is going to happen whatever it is. I already did whatever I could to stop it. So nothing to do but wait.
