Again, you guys thinking that this won't be much different than the first go round are being purposely naive. He's a petty, vengeful man who just found out that, not only are there no consequences for his actions, he gets richly rewarded for them. He now (rightfully) thinks the the majority of America wants him to enact his wildest desires. Do you think his comments about finding generals who would just obey is just more Trump speak? What about RFKjr running the CDC, among many other institutions? Anyone who he can appoint will absolutely be a loyalist, qualifications be damned.

Sure, our institutions will probably hold, and Trump co. is lazy and incompetent. But it's sure as shit not going to be business as usual.

Yeah this is Germany 1933

You're leaving out World War I, which created the conditions in Germany during the Weimar Republic that gave rise to Hitler and the Nazis. We don't have anything remotely comparable to that. Not even post-pandemic inflation.

Qualifier, I'm not saying this isn't a bad situation.  It's absolutely a horrific spot.

However, Hitler was bent on conquering other countries and building an empire.  Trump, at his core, although petty and childish, wants to play golf and enrich himself financially.  Yes, Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, et all have their own agendas as well, but it won't be as focused or destructive as say, invading the rest of the continent and starting another World War.

If pronouns are a problem for you my daughter tutors 2nd graders, I'm sure she can help.

You assume he will be satiated, he will not, not at at least after he has complete control

WWI was just the outrage fuel, we already have this in spades.

Trump isn't evil. He's just the biggest narcissist the world has ever encountered. He'll threaten prosecuting Jimmy Kimmel or some dumb shit, tweet out some insanity at 3am, then he'll get bored and go play golf.

The concerns are who he appoints where and how much he lets them talk him into things when he knows he has absolutely nothing to lose.

Sure, our institutions will probably hold, and Trump co. is lazy, old, and incompetent. There will be a new President in 2028. But it's sure as shit not going to be business as usual.

That profoundly stupid man somehow managed to win the Presidency twice. Must have been luck. Richly rewarded? His net worth went down the years he was in office. If he's a vengeful person it seems all the attacks over the years were poorly considered.

We heard all these things before the 1st presidency. There's a lot of worry over worst case scenarios that will ultimately never occur. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (More or less).

He wants the equivalent of a third, fourth, fifth term it all boils down to dictatorship.

He was incompetent the first go around, I read project 2025, it is a legitimate path to permanent rule

I don't know man. The first one went far worse than I imagined. I have some hopium that a lot of these nuts he has currently surrounded himself with he will kick to the curb once they become too troublesome...like he did last time. But maybe this time we won't be so lucky.

There were actually some things he said he would do I thought would actually be alright. But he did none of them. And the things he did do were generally pretty bad and then he wrapped the whole nightmare up by threatening our elections and spreading propaganda about it being stolen. And then Jan 6th. So that went far worse than I worried it would go back in 2016.

So you saying it will be just that bad again isn't very comforting. But hey at least he cannot run for President again.

What went far worse the first time? It was a relative peaceful period. Economy was decent pre-global pandemic. Low inflation. Housing prices started going up. Some of us got bonuses from the tax breaks.

He is brilliant at self-promotion, realizing there's no such thing as bad press, and the benefits of flooding the zone. He's the perfect candidate for our current social media/podcast/pure propaganda media sphere. I will not deny him that. He's also one of the least intellectually curious human beings ever to hold high office.

I was specifically referring to winning a majority vote and having Jan 6 and classified documents swept neatly under the rug. Not financial. Though, I think he's done just fine with his various and many grifts.

His first Presidency had a handful of competent people in the room, and a cabinet that wanted to win re-election. It's going to be off the walls. The safeguards will hold, but they will be stretched.

Sure as far as the economy goes: He inherited a strong economy and took credit for it before he ever took office. And then he blew up the deficit, which had come down, with a tax cut we couldn't afford. I, on the other hand, ended up paying a bit more tax but whatever. And of course the same old shit about how we would grow away enormous debt with economic growth. Which is an awesome plan so long as nothing bad ever happens like...say...a global pandemic.

But I was talking about his actions, not the world around him. Lucky him, he got handed a strong economy and a good situation. His successor was not so lucky.

But anyway I don't want to relive the whole thing with you, I get to do that in real life in the next four years. You clearly thought everything was great and good for you. I am not here to convince you that Trump is bad. If you are happy with him, great.

And, ignoring everything else, makes him attractive to you to be leader of the free world? You’re making him out to be a cuck who won’t do anything productive because he’s sitting in the corner watching some junior Secret Service agent giving Melanie, Melania or both the rogering that Donold can’t manage.

All this talk of Michigan turning red because of the muslim vote and it was Penn and Wisconsin that fucked us in the ass. I can not believe latino men really turned to Trump. What the flying fuck.

There was some talk about it last election when he started cutting into the latino vote, but there's a thing about latinos pulling up the ladder behind them. Apparently those that are here legally don't approve of those that got here otherwise. I'm not sure I buy that, but that was the explanation.

I don't give a fuck it was pure misoginy, and racism, these so called latinos have friends in the undocumented community, the idea that they would want their friends deported because THEY want to pick fruits and THEY want to be busboys is hillarious.

A lot of institutions will not hold. For one they're going to completely dismantle the administrative state and purge career apolitical federal employees and install trumptards.

The amount of damage that will be inflicted on this country is hard to comprehend. I really can't believe I'm surrounded by so many abject morons, including in my own family. I've never been more depressed.

How was a suit in Washington going to stop a global pandemic, the likes of which hasn't been seen in a century? Biden fared no better, he had more deaths by September of 2021 than Trump had in 2020, and that was after having the jab at the start. That's how global pandemics work, nobody is really safe, and there's really little you can do to control it.

America has made it clear in 2 of the last 3 elections that it isn’t ready, or most likely, doesn’t want an educated, qualified Woman as President. We suck. I should add that it has chosen a painted up clown show in those 2 elections.

But I should relax and not care about anything I guess according to the posters here.  And granted that is pretty much what I was planning to do anyway for awhile. I feared this and I guess I am glad the whole traumatic shitshow of this election is over.

The real traumatic shitshow doesn't start for another couple months.

I can't sleep.  Not because of what I expect to happen to my wife and me, but what a country we're leaving for my children.  My daughter moved to Oregon to get out of the misogynistic hell that is Texas so that she has access to sane medical care.  Now where will she go?  The economy that trump proposals will bring will prevent both she and my son from ever being able to do more than get by.  I have gay and trans family members who will now be subject to government harassment without protection.  I served in the Marine Corps to try to ensure that our country would be fair and free, just to see the electorate throw that all away.  Damn it all to hell.

First off thank you for having served a country that clearly does not value your service the way prior generations did. Second I believe that you likely instilled the values within your children that you have. They will persevere and be okay.

For your family members that are going to be hung out to dry solely for how they choose to live life, well, I hope for the best for them in what will not be a really welcoming climate politically. Human beings never, ever learn from the mistakes of the past.

No one seems to remember that a million+ people (1 in every 350 or so), needlessly died due to the Trump admin incompetency. I guess it was just Ma Ma and Pa's time to go to Jesus...

What drives me even more nuts is that Biden cleared that god damn hurdle, he will be remembered as Andrew Johnson the 4th worst president after Buchanon, Trump and the other pre civil war fool.
