It’s just odd…

- Last night Dems were delighted, and saw their internals showing a Harris victory

- Racist republicans were in disarray because they saw a trump defeat coming full steam ahead

- Elmo, Kirk, miller—all of them were panicking.

Then magically, everything shifted to the right?

This could be copium, or maybe sour grapes, but I agree with you. It's not adding up.

It was her race and gender. You don’t want to admit that because you know how it looks.

I’ve told this website before that parts of the Longhorn fan base are no different from A&M. This is one of the examples.

He's not wrong. I wouldn't attempt a candidate like this until at least 2044.

Do you have these breakouts for 2020 and 2016 as well?  Would also be interested in seeing a generation-gender stratification across those timeframes.

Media reported last might Trump was doing greater than 15pts better with black men and around 10 with black women.  Thats top of head and from a moment in time.  It isn’t clear what time period above chart references

It’s not Harris’ fault.  Her party panicked when Joe flopped in the debate.  Voters were disenfranchised given that party leaders made the decision to push her out front.

I don't even think it was that.  She actually ended up being a better candidate than I thought she would.  Doubtful she wins in a true primary process but i'm not convinced anyone could have done much better.  I think it came down to 2 things that I previewed last year and was shit all over in this forum.   Rapid inflation over last 4 years (which was inevitable regardless of executive control but that doesn't matter as party in charge will always get the blame) which was the biggest problem, combined with the now 'fact' that progressive ideas/PC culture are just flat out losers.  MAGA made it a culture war and it worked.  Nobody wants to hear it or accept it but it's the truth.  For example, not being able to just flat out say unequivocally "biological men should not play women's sports" is a loser.  It doesn't matter if it's not happening in reality (we know it's not).

This was a referendum on the economy and 'woke' culture in a social media algorithm driven world and there aren't enough educated voters who have retained the ability to critically analyze issues left to make a difference.   This is an era of low information voters across all age groups and demographics, and regardless how much I didn't want to believe it would actually happen, it swung the way I felt it might for the past 2 years (although I never thought it would be a full popular vote shift).  I'm going to retire away from the cloak room again, but I'll be fascinated to see WTF the D party does when the dust settles because this was a shock to the system.

It would probably look a lot like Harris desperately trying to win Georgia and NC.  And like Trump winning the election by cutting into the margins in Philly, Detroit, and Milwaukee.

Try to look further back and bigger picture instead of what happened in this election cycle. I'll wait.

We need economic accelerationsm, Democrats are absolutely incapable of going to war for  manufacturing jobs, so we need the reality of what eternal manufacturing slumber means. Shock therapy will affect the administrative state which will then trickle down to the gig economy. Economic collapse is the only thing that will ever and mean ever convince voters that Republicans are not the party of "the economy stupid" Clinton could not solve this either since he was a NAFTA creator, he was for free trade that demanufactured the US. Don't get me wrong it was inevitable 100% tariffs will only mean more expensive goods, those jobs are not coming back, but the idiots in their infinite wisdom still think it will

That covidstimulus the dems passed early in Bidens term, shortly after trumps stimulus, was clearly a mistake. Who knows how much it actually impacted the headline inflation, but it eliminated deniability.

b) Democratic policies are viewed much more favorably by the electorate compared to repulikkkan. Many in the electorate are too stupid and uninformed about who favors which policies.

Wouldn't the internals and turnout data have foretold all this, though? Journos are pretty good at knowing who's feeling confident behind the scenes and why. Meanwhile Charlie Kirk and Pee Wee German were freaking the fuck out, especially about the gender gap.

This wasn't just a polling miss, it was an everything miss.

Yes.

Even Fox was starting to concede Harris was going to win leading up to Election Day because everyone’s internals were saying that. If they weren’t, that is a major news story that every media outlet would have been reporting on.

Exit poll vote attribution is also not 100% accurate. We know how many and from where.

How many is a smaller number than Kamala Harris and everyone needed and the where was EVERYWHERE not just the swing states. This was blanket low enthusiasm and under performance

Dems have a huge problem.

Why do we have to cater to the opinions of people who are here illegally?  I live in a very red county and used to have a job in the AG industry. Obviously, tons of illegals at the work force. Many times illegals were pulled over and given speeding tickets and sent on their way despite no license/ registration/ legal ID. Now the ones that were arrested on violent charges were gone. Immigrants are needed in the work force for plenty of varying jobs. But it should still be done legally and by OUR process of obtaining a visa through a thorough background check.
