Were they enslaved 20 years ago? somthing big changed dude like really badly you just don't see because you aged out, and to offset it women are not voting against a turbo misoginist 45% voted for him. incel rage might be enough because it was razor thin margin, but this is alarm bells level of we are going to go through a major war level of alarmism.

You've only got to go back 50-60 years to get to a point where no fault divorce was illegal, women could not have independent banking or credit accounts, there were no protections or rights with regard to reproductive healthcare, and public universities were male-only (whoop!).

I guess I don't know whether you'd define that as sexual enslavement but it's certainly second class citizenship, and it's very obviously the goal. The edgy ones in the GOP sphere don't eve bother talking around it anymore.

I actually want him to live 4 more years now. He'll do less damage playing golf and assaulting women than president JV.

No, Trump can pull off a permanent dictatorship, I am done underestimating what he can do. JV can't do that.

I'm sure it's been discussed but I can't keep up with this thread.  Harris lost for one reason and one reason only: the economy and her inability to put any distance between herself and Biden on the issue.  Nevermind that quantitative easing and PPP programs that triggered the radical rise in inflation were initiated by Trump (and honestly were the right move to stave off a potential depression).  The effects were felt during the Biden administration.  And she couldn't keep her fingerprints off it no matter how hard she tried.  And that is where the election was lost.

I've spoke about this topic on and off for like 10 years when it was becoming apparent.  Gen Z didn't become more Millenial.  The average age of someone playing video games more than 4 hours a week is 38 years old.  The same thing is happening with social media especially among males.

it's not an out right ban of social media, it's making sure they have balance in their lives and honestly above all else they don't lose the desire to impress girls and try and convince girls to like them. That is the fundamental issue for gen z boys and once they are chasing the girls, they will do what they need to do to get laid.

this is not an echo chamber, there are clearly like minded folks but the news sources are varied and are not fringe.

Women need to massage egos, they are not convincing their mom and grandma to save them

Dating apps need to be banned as well, all they do is turbo magnify shame.

Sadly I see war on the horizon we are all going to pay the price of edgy men wanting to burn the world down.

I hate to say it, but just like it took the repeal of Roe to mobilize women and win elections in places like fucking Kansas, it's going to take some deporting of some (a lot?) American citizens to swing the Latino vote back Democratic.

We are strictly in the "no progress without pain" phase of American democracy.

Add to this a few other issues that run deep in the Hispanic community.

1- Their idea of economy is different. The average dude does not have a stock portfolio.

2- The Catholic church. even if they do not attend, it is part of their culture.

3- LatinX. Most I hang out with hate it.

4- They give zero fucks about Taylor Swift and Clooney.

They do not think they are going to be deported once here. And if they are, it is they were unlucky or broke the law.

Yeah I know all that but still would have thought they'd have more empathy for illegal immigrants than they apparently do, whether it's because they have friends or family who are here illegally, they better understand the urgency of why the immigrants needed to flee x country, simple ethnic/cultural solidarity, etc. And on top of that you have all the racist shit Trump has said for the past 9 years. I just can't wrap my head around nearly half of Hispanic men voting Trump.

This really drives home the fact that Kamala was a shitty candidate

Yes, this is the answer. I think most any of the others on the short list--man or woman--would have outperformed her. I went along with the enthusiasm but in hindsight it all felt a little manufactured--as her prior Dem primary run did--and while it was enough to get me to care, it fell flat on those that needed a reason to vote for her. The rejection of Trump wasn't enough motivation, even though it should have been. I was in favor of the open Primary and still think that could have led to a stronger candidate. We'll never know now and our goal should turn towards making Trump a 2 term president. That is not a guaranteed outcome here.

I’m traveling to El Paso today for a big hearing tomorrow (“He’s arguing, he’s making an argument”), and I heard a guy on NPR this morning doing a post mortem of Texas say that El Paso Democratic turnout was down and support for R’s was up. I’m going to ask my local counsel what the fuck is up with that.

I never saw/heard any Democrat messaging on the point about Trump initiating the inflationary stimulus. They need to figure out how to educate people on things like this, instead of letting Rs brainwash people with bullshit without pushing back.

This.

It's been a long 4 years dominated by a sluggish economic recovery. High prices and a delayed pre-Covid market were the key insurmountable obstacles here. Expensive groceries and gas were seen daily by voters and indelibly imprinted on their mind all year.

I don’t think it’s the answer at all. As I’ve opined, it wouldn’t have mattered which candidate ran after Biden dropped out (and it wouldn’t have mattered if Biden stayed in the race). A huge chunk of the electorate who decided the election simply looked at their own situation and said, “Shit’s more expensive for me than it was a couple years ago, and I just think the other party can make it a little better.”

The strategy of keeping everyone so desperate they're too busy to stop and think is paying off huge dividends. Corporate price gouging pays off in spades to get the corporate candidate in power

The Dems have a real problem because they just assume people know what is going on. People need to have issues explained to them like children so they can understand. It’s like people who don’t teach their children how to bathe themselves and wipe their asses right. Yeah it seems like common sense to know how to wash yourself, but some people need to have it explained to them so they don’t walk around smelling like shit.

The mass deportation schtick was just to get elected.  It is entirely impractical to think it would happen.  There may be a draconian effort to stop nearly all immigration at the border, but people aren't going to get rounded up in droves.  90% of the bullshit he says on the campaign trail is just to rile up the base.  I can see him doing relatively little real policy work.  He just wants to sit in the big chair and have people kiss the ring.

The strategy of the campaign failed and clearly missed the mark entirely. There is an obvious enthusiasm gap here.

And the enthusiasm gap was driven by:

1. Racism and Misogyny

2. Political ads. His ads were all about fear. Hers gave hope. Right now, fear sells.

Obama is long over, not even he could win today, people are angry they no longer have manufacturing jobs, those are never coming back but we will see how they like shock therapy where they won't even have gig economy jobs.

The truth is, an adult in the room needs to tell those people that the manufacturing jobs ARE NOT COMING BACK.

Hey that is my theory! that said the fundamentals are tanking manu jobs are king, and as long as people remember what they lost we will never see a true democratic party fix, let Musk burn it all down. Lets see how people like what they vote for.

If we let Musk burn it down, we lose reserve currency status, which is what China and Russia want. This is why Musk is an idiot. I do not think he fully understands that.

1 hour ago, linux said:

Even if Gavin won it was only 4 years, the fundamentals are devastating, people really believe the Trump is good for the economy bit and nothing will change that, except the cold water of reality, once the administrative state is dismantled, once millions of people are fired from the state, once all handouts are halted and we do pure austerity which will also kill the gig economy people are paycheck to paycheck on, maybe then will this change after people suffer reality, the US is in a slow decline economically, way better than the OECD, but weaker than China, and that is what is allowing Trump to win razor thin margins in the blue wall.

We only cater to the blue wall because of the EC.

Except that people who employ them in great numbers don't want any of that. It gets more expensive. Immigration is the ultimate red herring and I doubt we see anything beyond maybe the bill that Donald quashed in the spring might fly through now that the R's will control both houses and the presidency. If Pee Wee German wants to round up and deport 20M illegal immigrants, be my fucking guest. I'm in a let-the-motherfucker-burn-down territory now.

Yep. The only way to stop illegal immigration is to punish the businesses that hire them. That is a non-starter.

We need shock therapy, people need to suffer reality, maybe after 40% GDP drop after dozens of millions of people are fired by Musk and 100% tariffs drive prices up the wall maybe then people will understand how good they had it. I doubt they will even blame Trump for this. Honestly, Americans are fucking stupid when it comes to the economy.

36 minutes ago, South Austin said:

I don’t think the VP pick mattered one bit.

So far for me, an NPR commentator said it best. It was a vibe or feeling election, but not like we thought. A lot of Trump voters who were polled expressed nothing more than a “feeling” that a Trump presidency would bring change. For the past two years they’ve felt the difficulty in buying homes, cars, groceries, and other items, and simply felt like a vote for the other party would be the best way to somehow change that, without any ability to articulate something they’ve heard from Trump that would specifically bring about that change. They don’t even understand the tariff argument. And some said they didn’t even believe the no-tax-tips thing.

The voters who swung for Trump simply looked at their own personal financial situation, felt a pinch over the past couple years, and felt like putting the other party in power could change that. For those voters, if it was the other way around and a Republican was the incumbent, they would’ve voted for the other guy.

Beshear or Shapiro wouldn’t have changed that.

This.  Most Americans don't even have a basic understanding of economics. They were completely duped.  They are idiots.

Here's the problem I see with Gen Alpha, Gen Z, and Millennial men: there's no way to change them. They are driven by entitlement. The have been force-fed propaganda about how they're failures unless they have trad wives and nuclear family to rule over. This has fundamentally changed who they are deep down and what their values are.

Once the GOP accomplished that, the only thing they needed to do was make clear appeals to those values. The details never mattered. Trump is the guy who "fights" for those values, and everyone standing in his way is the enemy.

They don't know or care what Project 2025 is, and the few who did look into it said "that sounds great!"

THIS! They think they should get what they want becuase, well I want it. Fuck them.

For all of linux' discussion, energy transition is something that could bring jobs and economic growth back.  Being on the forefront of this would lift everyone. But that would require the GQP to acknowledge climate change.

How does a candidate lose on the economy while in the land of reality the economy is incredibly strong? There's absolutely nothing she or Biden could've done differently  -  okay, one thing and maybe that would've worked is if Biden had put in a different chairperson of the Fed Reserve 3 or 4 years ago. Powell allowed interest rates to climb in order to cool the economy down.

Trump also lost a large quantity of votes from 2020 do you think they're over there being pissed off about it?

Multiple things can be true at once: Harris ran a great campaign. The economy is strong. She lost to a felonious nazi with dementia and the media didn't make that clear. The nazis ran a campaign to drive down turnout through negative advertising funded by HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars of nazi money. The campaign did everything it could to counter that.

The ppp was a democratic program and never would've happened without the Democrats. They care about this country and that's their weakness. The nazis only care about power and how much money they can graft throughout their lives.
