Any explanation from our Democrat friends on why 2020 why was such an outlier?

Immamac says Tuesday was because a bunch of lefties stayed home, and rather than choosing to vote, decided to masturbate, or bake cookies, or something.

The popular vote totals are still incomplete. Not sure when all the numbers will be in. Both candidates will end up with more. I think the chart would be better if it showed 3rd party results, but also it seems clear that more former Biden voters switched to Trump than former Trump voters switched to Harris. That makes intuitive sense to me since Trump has clearly been who he is for at least 8 years now, Harris became the candidate late and she got saddled with the price inflation that hurt so many more Americans than the asset inflation benefited

Well, half of California is still out as of the time stamp on that tweet.  Also a combo of lower turnout of some Dem groups an some voters voting Trump.

Do you realize that Trump had a bigger increase from 2016 to 2020 than Biden had over Hillary's total?

Voters have very short memories. My concern is Trump will try and get the 2 term limit as President overturned with a Republican Congress and SC. On Day One!

Seeing as how that requires amending the Constitution, it's not happening.

He's done running for president.

What/who is going to make him adhere to the rules of the Constitution?  SCOTUS?

There are no more rules for the dumbest, most flawed human to ever sniff POTUS.  All bets are off.

Idk what happened in 2020, but it's an interesting topic for sure.

Do those people know what the phrase record turnout means?

But how could that be? I was told all these Liz Cheney events were a great idea

I mean, they were. It needed to be presented and investigated. But the only people that watched them would’ve voted against Trump even if the D candidate was a literal donkey. Independents of today are only independent because they’re disengaged.

I also suspect abortion helped trump more than it helped Harris. Lots of people that are completely unaffected by abortion laws because they’re old, or men without young daughters, or just very religious, care deeply enough about it to hold their nose and vote for a giant piece of shit.

You think she should have not tried to get never Trump Republicans to vote for her?

Maybe this was already posted but all well. I normally don’t give a fig for bernie but I give the guy credit for saying out loud what cant be said in polite political society:

Kamala lost because she sucks. Donald lost in 2020 because he sucks. Hilary lost in 2016 because she sucks. Everything else is cope. James Comey and the emails, russia, the steal, all cope. We live in an age of cope. What will be the cope this time? Neither party does dick for the common man but we go on swinging the pendulum back and forth in the vain hope that maybe it’ll be different this time. We’ll riot at the capitol over a fake cope but wont lift a finger to challenge the real fraud that gives us these two bunk choices in the first place and even has the audacity to present itself as the bestest noblest system on earth.

At least the Lincoln Project grifters took a bunch of money from progressives.  It's a sin to let suckers keep their money.  That and all the money they wasted in Texas on Wendy Davis Beto O'Rourke Collin Allred warms my soul.

How does it compare to the $100M Trump has spent on legal fees, paid for by his supporters, the last few years?

That is a basically non-existent demographic. Yes, they exist but they didn't need to be courted because they were already vocal about their support for Harris.

I have a strong feeling that these types of high-effort, low-results appeals to the right wing also played a role in depressing turnout for Dems from Biden's 81M to Kamala's probably sub-70M turnout.

Results like these are Not Our Standard.

Trump fucked up covid response to the absolute max, helped make masks a political issue for no reason, and told people to inject bleach. And gas was expensive; even you retarded MAGAts know voters don't like that.

And did your dumb ass notice that the red bar was highest in 2016 as well? Maybe it's because a lot more people voted.

I'm surprised you morons remember how to get dressed everyday

SIAP. Arizona craziness:

  • Trump 1.30m, Harris 1.17m
  • Gallego 1.25m, Lake 1.182m

Basically 120K voters voted for Trump but didn't vote for Lake. She's identical to him in many ways. And roughly 60K of them voted for Gallego. WTF.

In hindsight Trump not more vocally supporting Lake in the last few months is going to be a mistake by the GOP. It's an understandable mistake since she seemed so toxic but he may have been able to pull her over the finish line with different tactics. EDIT: vote counting is not over so who knows how it will shake out including Lake winning.

Lake has more votes than Harris! Wow.

Dems might not win another POTUS election unless they drop identity politics.  Americans are mostly shitty people who like to see the fringes suffer.

I have hated identity politics since the 2010s it is such a god damn losing strategy, its like they are stupid enough to never understand that there are 100 to 1 ratio on trans voters vs everyone else, yes it is shitty that they are being abandoned but the answer was pity parties, tear jerkers, not going to ham on god damn pronoun enforcement.

I'm not entirely agreeing with this because I don't see Harris going heavy with identity politics. Harris seemed to intentionally shy away from her background other than she grew up in a middle class household. Were you aware of that? :)

I do agree that Dems do a poor job communicating their stance towards trans issues. As a group they support trans rights but I don't see them running on that. The right has pounced on the unpopularity of trans rights. Should the Dems join the bandwagon and try to out-cruel the right? It goes against the values of the Dems to add to the marginalization of a minority group.

What the fuck are you talking about? What Democratic candidates ran on "identity politics"?

The Democrat party is one huge narcissistic circle jerk.  The first rule about that is that it is you and not them. So the autopsy of this election cycle will be someone else's fault. I am okay with them keeping that line of thinking.

The Democrat party is wildly attractive to people with mental illnesses, especially narcissists. All you have to look at is the core traits that make someone a narcissist.

1. No ability for self reflection. If they get a negative response, it's on the other person. Not them. They are perfect.

2. No ability for accountability. Ties in to #1.

3. Narcissists LOVE echo chambers. They have no ability to receive and process thoughts other than their own. This is why college campuses have become giant narcissistic echo chambers. Anyone who does not think like them infuriates them and causes them to lash out.

All that said to point out that there's a fractional chance they'll look in the mirror and be honest with themselves, but they don't have the ability. This is good news for the GOP.

The country isn't ready for it.  Like it or not, men in women's sports is an 80/20 or 70/30 issue (against).  The Harris campaign had to moderate on that issue and they never did.

Don't forget - as I recall in 2008, Obama was anti gay marriage...because he and his people recognized the country wasn't ready yet.  Since the final vote was a landslide, he may have still won if he had come out in favor of gay marriage but the margin would have been a lot slimmer.

Call it mean, call it divisive, call it "transphobic," call it whatever, but the "Kamala is for they/them; Trump is for you" ad was unquestionably the most effective ad in this cycle.  Even the Clinton folks said that the Kamala people needed to push back and they wouldn't.

Yep. I was definitely worried about that one the second I saw it during a football game. My initial reaction was, "Shit, that's a really good commercial." And obviously a good tagline. Begrudgingly, his team knocked it out of the park with their ads down the stretch. Way less hateful and divisive than earlier efforts while still painting her in a "radical" corner, and, importantly, they didn't let him talk.

I've been saying for awhile that trans issues are going to be a much bigger deal in this election than any of us wanted to let on. It sucks that years of culture wars have made 2% of the population a tentpole issue (and drawn targets on their backs), but that's where we are in America.

Kamala's ads were extremely blah down the stretch. She needed to say something to the effect of: "We strongly believe that no one should make life altering decisions before they reach adulthood, but ultimately their decision lies between the individual, their parents, and their doctor, and them alone."

Not sure it would have had an effect, but can't let their propaganda run unopposed.
