At least see what the next Lege session looks like. We'll see what they do with them really off the leash.

Is there any path for abortion to get on the ballot in Texas like it has in so many other states? What would it require?

We need some damage control.

Need to win the senate seats in Nevada and Arizona.  If the GOP takes those, they are at what 57?  Trump supporters will probably use death threats on 3 democrat senators to get around the filibuster.  I’d feel a lot better if they’re at 55 or 54.

Need to win the house or have the GOP only win it by 1 or 2 seats so that we can cause as much complications as humanly possible.

Texas doesn’t give a fuck about its citizens or what they think.  The legislature decides all of our policy.  You could collect 10 million signatures in support of an issue and hot wheels will just laugh at you on the Capitol steps.

I feel like @ulukinatme has a pretty long post history suggesting he’s not a “fascist fuck” … we’re all shattered but it’s not the time to turn on each other.

Maybe Harris should’ve picked Shapiro instead of Walz. I don’t know if that would’ve made the difference in Pennsylvania but it couldn’t have hurt. It certainly lays to waste the silly assertion someone made who said Shapiro not being selected but campaigning for Harris would actually improve Kamala’s chances of winning PA.

Did you forget that our future president is a Russian asset at worst and a putin fanboy at best? Trump will not only decline to lift a finger to help Ukraine, he will raise his fist against it.

Results from Hidalgo County:

Trump/Vance: 110,415    Harris /Walz: 103,952

Results from Cameron County:

Trump/Vance: 60,925    Harris/Walz: 54,156

Results from Starr County:

Trump/Vance: 9,443    Harris/Walz:  6,845

Unbelievable.   This is reflective of the reasons why the Dems got their asses kicked last night.  And no, it wasn’t racist, Nazi white men.   Your wacko policies (or lack thereof) cost you your base.  Deal with it

If we assume this result on the border was about policies, Biden’s border policy wasn’t a surprise… so it was about abortion?

Edited by B00M
Or was it about the border policies being less punitive/psychotic? Maybe I give too much credit

that had nothing to do with anything. nothing that these candidates said or did had anything to do with anything. everyone already knew which side they were voting for ages ago, and nothing was going to change that. tim walz was the best chance the dems had at appealing to the more rational of the conservative base, and it didn’t matter at all. this whole thing is totally tribalistic. none of the minutiae matters .

Would've been even worse if Kamala didn't move to the right on the border like so many lambasted her for.

It's clear the "legal Latino" resentment of illegal immigration was a major factor in this election.

I've always felt like the Dems failed to get the message out about how Trump sabotaged the conservative border bill to benefit himself, leaving the border situation on his hands.

This is such a complete and total rebuke that there’s no point in analyzing specific things that the Dems may or may not have done wrong. It’s like criticizing specific play calls when asking why Colorado State wasn’t able to keep the game closer against us.

The electorate wanted to vote red this cycle, period. In hindsight, nothing else mattered.

Yup, and proud of it. Your family is not my problem. Stop being poor. You live in America and probably can have your college fully paid for in scholarship. Your bad life choices shouldn’t affect my life. You already get welfare from my tax money against my will.
Im an asshole. Don’t care

I think your posts in this thread sum up the mindset of a lot of Trump voters. It’s basically “I got what I need and fuck everyone else less fortunate or different than me.”

It’s really sad that we live in a society where a majority of people apparently feel this way. Your comments in this thread are extremely selfish and show a complete disregard for your fellow citizens, but at least you own it.

One day you may need help in some form and it won’t be there, but you helped bake this cake so I suppose you can endure the consequences with everyone else.

I don’t, actually. Please point to a policy. Let’s just say I’m really fucking stupid and don’t know goddamn thing. Please tell me the wacky insane policy or policies. Help me recognize it, then.

I agree with this to an extent. Once it became abundantly clear that nothing was going to be able to convince the majority of Americans that the economy was pretty good--or at least recovering decently--it was probably all over.

People are going to vote for themselves and their own above all else--not that I blame them--and that makes it easier to ignore/rationalize the character of who you're voting for.

And people have really short fucking memories.

Those factors plus the built-in Trump base and, yeah, the VP pick probably don't make a shit.

Was it a wacko policy or a lack thereof? Anyway they started slipping away before Biden was even elected. I was very alarmed how those places were voting in the 2020 and 2022 election. And this just kept it going.

Is this the LGBTQ stuff?

Meh. The people who follow and understand this kind of political grandstanding aren't the ones that the campaign needed to reach.

Obviously Trump realized that and knew that sabotaging the bill was to his benefit. He bragged about it himself.

It wasn't passed, Dems are in the White House, and the border is still bad. That's as far as the thought process goes.
