I don't see a normal game week thread, and I'm tired of work at the moment.

I assume Lagway is all the way out?

I didn't watch the Georgia-Florida game, but should we expect a 49-0 type of game like when Gabriel was knocked out the week before OU played us in 2022, or should we expect the Florida backup to come in and torch us since we won't be prepared for him?

Also, F this 11 a.m. start time.

I'm actually good with the 11:00 AM start time. Breakfast tacos and beer at the tailgate, catch the game, go home and enjoy the rest of Saturday's football from my couch. I don't want a whole fucking season of 11:00 AM starts like we were getting in the Big `12

The backup is a walk-on transfer from Yale who wanted to be closer to home. He's not frightening.

Lagway is a Texas kid, and a lot of family is coming to watch him. If he’s cleared, he’ll play.

A dual threat QB with a 48% completion rate against ranked teams, playing with a bad hammy?  Yes please.

But also...

Not a bad option

Lagway with a really bad leg is not frightening at all. That would really impact both his ability to throw and run.

No way he plays this game after having to sit out while having UGa on the ropes

Florida’s my 2nd favorite program, so I know a ton about them and watch almost all their games, but it sucks to see them so down and out. Lagway will 100% not play. Napier does not rush anyone back from injury, and on top of that there’s a 99% chance Lagway never suits up for the gators again. It’s no secret he’s leaving that dumpster fire for the highest bidder. Their freshman RB Baugh is a damn good player, but with no threat at QB this will be an ugly game. The gators have an improved defense of late but they’ll get gassed. I’m predicting 38-0 Texas.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators starting quarterback DJ Lagway left the Georgia game with a hamstring injury in the first half and did not return. He was on crutches with his left leg in a brace and had an MRI on Sunday.

UF coach Billy Napier provided an update on Lagway’s status at his Monday press conference.

“The good news is, we’ve had positive information on that front,” Napier said. “That is the positive thing, we do think the injury is less significant. We think there’s a pathway for a recovery and return. And we did find that out (Sunday) evening. Lot of good on that front. So, less significant than we anticipated.

“And he’s been doing well so far (Monday) morning. We have not completely ruled him out (for Texas) and I think a lot of that will be to be determined as we move our way throughout the week. So that’s a good thing for all involved and certainly for DJ. … It’s gonna be pretty clear cut once we get to Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. So, we’ll know.”

I really doubt Lagaway will be 100% even if he plays, but can't blame a kid for wanting to play a big home in front of his family.

It does put a lot of pressure on their OLine to protect him against our Defense, probably not a great way to come back from an injury.

Related - Vanderbilts QB definitely was missing a step after playing us , I hope he gets better for the road ahead and spoils another game or two (Tennessee and LSU up ahead)

Napier could save his job with a win in Austin.

Lol. This is a schedule loss for Florida. I've watched enough Texas football to know that we're capable of handing them a freak upset but Napier isn't a whipped Longhorn fan. If he wants to save his job he's going to need to do it in one of their last 3 games.

Idk. Is he going to be wearing a knee brace?

Yeah.  When Erin Andrew’s is a median-level member of the Pom squad at UF….  UF ladies are (and have long been) easy on the eyes.

So Lagway is most likely out? Our defense is gonna have a field day with that back up. minimum 5 sacks.
The Yalie may be smart, but he looked a bit slow processing reads when he went in for Lagway. I predict minimum 2 picks.

His reads weren't the only slow thing about him.

He left Yale for UF allegedly for a woman and I guess to play football.

I also saw him "scramble".

He might have gotten good grades, might be book smart, but he's not football smart, football fast nor does he read the tea leaves well.

But... undefeated

I'm confused how there aren't any reports on Lagway other than what Napier said publicly. Does UF not have nosey 9.95ers who leak everything in advance?
