My wife started the process for her dual Italian citizenship last year.  It's still going to take at least a year, if not more, depending on the Italian government, but I'm glad we at least got it started.  Yes, I know the Italians aren't a great model for government right now, but it would get us both access to anywhere in the EU.  Fucking nuts we now have to think about this as not just a retirement/luxury option, but maybe a necessity.

Fascism has been slowly closing its fist on Italy/Europe too. Today is going to speed up that process globally. The US is no longer an Allied power.

I go all the time. I have a lot of friends already there. It's actually cheaper in London than in NYC. I need to be Dotard free.

Big Texas Exes crowd at The Swan in Hammersmith upstairs area every game day/night.  I went for the Miss St game.  It was fun.

Well, for me, yeah. But, that's because I work for a company with a large UK presence. It's something I'm going to talk about with them over the next couple of months. If we time it right, maybe I can make the move in the summer.

FYI, I cannot go to sleep. I'm so bleh at the moment.

Yep, I'm sending out an email to someone tomorrow about any lateral moves to any of our EU offices.

well, now i understand the violent growing anti-american sentiment in the Europe. well deserved. i'm glad we finally got to visit it first, earlier this year.

I think for those of us trying to escape, they will be most excellent. I have had nothing but good experiences over the last year.

We’re a fucking problem. Always have been. Now the veil of morality is about to be dropped.

I have spent a week out here in Hawaii and while some things are more expensive I have found that what I researched before coming here is accurate. I can live here for less than NYC and it has the added benefit of being more peaceful. I should be back by mid-January at the latest. I already set up a new bank account and did the legwork on apartment hunting and a job transfer. Just gotta get my two sweet dogs brought back with me and all will be well.

I sent out my first email tonight for a university I hope to eventually work for or with in the South Pacific. No time like the present to take care of decisions that can pay off for you down the road.

History books would have talked about a billionaire social media platform owner utilizing his money and said platform to manipulate the idiots of America, but we won’t have legitimate history books going forward.

We'll have to smuggle them in from Europe, amiright?

You're funny. I like you.

Dan Patrick runs rampant across the state of Texas like never seen before.

our idiot legislature in the state Capitol will view this election as a mandate to go as far right as humanly possible. Look for more book banning. Critical race theory. Abbott wheeling over minorities and gays. School Vouchers. They might try to crush delta 8 because why the fuck not.  Shits and giggles. They will tell the idiot Texans who vote that it “ protects the children” and 80% of Texans will support banning delta 8. Fucking insane world we live in.

look for transgenders having to hide in basements or attics and never seeing the light of day. Gays / lesbians will be constantly dunked on and ridiculed. Women will have their rights taken away. Minorities will be reminded that they are second class citizens.

stephen miller will be the national point man for a lot of Dan Patrick’s Texas style ideas. They’re going to line up like Alabama football under Nick Saban and ram as much shit down the throats of the American people as possible.

America and the idea of America doesn’t exist anymore. This is what we are now.  The institutions we believed were strong enough to survive an authoritarian are hollow.

The future is the Washington Post.  Billionaires who shape our environment acquiescing so the ignorant and angry won’t be deployed against them.

I just want normal and sane and frequently kind. Ideals and aspirations we can feel good about even if we often fail to live up to them.

But ok. The dream that this would be a decade long chapter in American history is gone - this is who we are now.

Delta 8 was never going to be a longterm thing here but yeah it's doomed.

In 2016, I was shocked that he won but instantly became more plugged into politics and there was an underlying desire to fight against Trump and his policies.

I get that it’s still fresh, but this time I just kind of want to unplug and get away. What’s the point?

There is no point. Fights over. And by get away you should think about that, literally.

I can’t. I’m trapped here.

2016 was easy to see as a fluke, as a large minority of the country that hated Hillary shrugging and taking a chance on her goofball opponent and happening to win thanks to the electoral college.

That wasn’t this. This was him openly running as a fascist, with everyone who restrained him last time warning us about the danger he posed, and a solid majority of the country eagerly voting for fascism. And the worst thing is that we don’t have the excuse of a horrific depression like Germany did. A majority of voting Americans are just monsters.

I don’t see any other way to look at it except this. Did they get this way because we abandoned a chunk of them by offshoring jobs? Kneecapping education? Failing to register social media? Absolutely. But we started abandoning them first, 30-40 years ago. And the rest are just selfish boomers who DGAF about anything but themselves.

I sincerely hope if he wins that everyone who voted for him will be targeted with the worst thing that is possible to happen to them. Fuck this country for voting for a dictator on day one. Feel the pain bitches

This kind of sentiment is exactly why people loathe the Democrats now. People just voted for a very flawed person in a landslide over Harris and you would think at some level this would cause some of to wonder if your party was really on the right path. If the democrats ever want to regain the trust of the working class or young black and Latino voters they should probably start by wondering why they hate you so much.
