Clearly it's not just one thing, but hopefully the state of MSM, internet, and social media will be taken more seriously. People are consuming two completely different and fully separated sets of information.

There probably isn't going to be an election in 2028.

And even if there is, so many "intellectual elitists leftists" are going to leave that the Democrats can't win.

I expect that by about 2040, this entire country will look like Mississippi.  Everyone smarter than that will be gone.

And a bunch of Republicans would smile at that notion.

There’s also going to be the tariffs that Trump’s followers honestly believe are paid for by the “offending” country. That shit is going to reignite inflation, and it’s just further proof that Americans are by and large financially illiterate. Blame Biden for gas prices, blame Biden for inflation, yada yada. Meanwhile, we literally went through this experiment already in 2019 when it really was the Trump economy by that point. He couldn’t take credit for Obama’s successes anymore, and it was a drastic failure. The yield curve inverted, and gold/silver going up while copper went down, and all that was before any of you motherfuckers knew what coronavirus even was, and yet we’ve got sniveling little dickheads telling us that the bigger problem is people like me pointing that out.

That's the other shocking thing, people's memories of how things were under Trump, and Trump himself, are so bad.  I really thought more people were sick of his shit than this.

Tangentially related thought.  I didn't much like Harris back in 2018-2019, I liked Warren and was ultimately ok with Biden, but given the circumstances, I thought she ran a fantastic campaign and was a genuine, likeable candidate.  If you vote for the person, not the policies, or against the person, she seemed to be a winner.

I am guilty of casual misogyny, but I don't think even deep down I am a misogynist.  It barely entered my mind to consider it a negative that she is a woman, or a person of color. My only thought there was "it's about time" and that it would be historic.

I think a problem for Democrats is that traditional government appears to have failed a lot of people, or they perceive it that way.  But I don't really see how Democrats can campaign except on more or less traditional government grounds.  Are they going to have to campaign as more benevolent dictators?  What the fuck.

And, I had hoped that a Harris win would maybe start undoing some of the shit we've got going on in Texas, which is going to be a long, slow process, regardless.  Fucking fuck.  Ken Paxton is going to be our governor.

It's already been happening, but the migration to more culturally aligned states is going to rapidly increase. It's not a question I want to think about right now, but I'm betting it fucks the Electoral College for Dems even harder, because of course it will.

Yeah, but don't worry -- war with China should stimulate the economy.  And of course we'll be on our own since we'll have left NATO.

How much contact do you have with lower and middle income folks? I see a steady parade of Trump and Let’s Go Brandon shit, so I wasn’t totally surprised. My hope was that it was different outside Montgomery County, Texas. Now I know it’s not so different elsewhere. We are a loathsome people.

It’s clear to me that the GOP and Democratic Party operate by a different set of rules. I’ve accepted a while back that Dems are always gonna be the party that wins when the republicans fuck up or at least perceived to fuck up.

I literally watched the Democratic Party run Howard Dean clear out of the primary race for getting too excited on stage during a rally and going on to lose the election with John Kerry to a C avg student from Yale. Dems are the cleanup crew and I just don’t see that changing. The only positive is Dems will absolutely win in 2028 regardless of who they put forward because the orange baboon will absolutely hammer us for four years

So, the GOP has had to kowtow to Trump to win elections.  One way or another, Trump is not going to stand for an election again.

He's also going to go out sooner rather than later and I think we agree his unique brand of populism is irreplaceable.

How much does the GOP continue to kowtow to him?

See my edit.  They're going to have to do something other than Trump in the near future.  What will it be?  Yes they need his base, but I don't think they can hold it without the man himself.

People don't seem to understand christofacism out in the open (as opposed to a crypto-platform).  JD Vance wasn't winning shit without being attached to Trump.

With the understanding and concern for all marginalized people in the country, the only "positive" I see with this result is that it was clear and indisputable.

The government and media are not going to unite this country. We're gonna have to do it all by ourselves, one conversation at a time. And grace will be needed.

It’s really a handful of tech billionaires that want to play god with all their money.  Vance and Trump are just stooges, the next guy will be too.  It’s the Christian nationalists that worry me because the only thing at the end of their road is a bunch of dead people. Ok.

Also I think it's important for Trump supporters to see how this plays out today and coming days.

- Kamala will concede

- Outside of the fringe, no one is going to say the election is rigged

- You will see a lot of sadness, not violence.

I hope they absorb this and reflect, however unlikely.

I know I’m stating the obvious: this is who America is. We were always a fundamentally center right country, and we are moving further right.  This isn’t a bunch of dumb people who got tricked into a second Trump term. The country does not agree with the Democratic Party.

He won a landslide. This is about as close to the 1932 election in reverse as you are likely to get. The Democrats need to look at who they are.

While I agree with the first point wholeheartedly, the second is incorrect, at least partially. They weren't tricked.
