This fucker has never kept his promises.  Yes, some of his policies will suck and his judicial appointments will definitely be ass.  But the poors and middle class suburban / rural folks who expect some big windfall are gonna be left hanging more times than not.  The liberal elites of NYC and other big cities will end up with more money than ever and it won't bother Trump one bit as that's the people he really wants to be like.  Just like his clown daughter who avoids daddy these days hoping she can get invited back to those parties.  But yes, for optics etc Trump will keep feeding the masses red meat while taking care of anyone with money behind the scenes.  Soros' right hand man getting some appointment is fucking perfect.  LOL

Are you hiring?

What is your obsession with Obama’s presidency? He hasn’t been president since 2016, and you’ve had turnip as president already. Why did you keep going back to Obama

It’s weird you consciously select the Black president to single out every time.

Well he’s a documented racist, for one.

True, but he was also very likely a genius and had experience running large bureaucracies in FoMoCo.

Well, there’s at least chatter that Fox News bro is going to face an uphill battle to get confirmed.

Or will he even need to be confirmed since Russia already vetted him?

DJT has already announced that he just wants to do recess appointments not confirmations, and Scott is on track to make that happen.

Dumb question, but is the defense secretary usually someone that was a very high rank in the military at one point in their career.  Like a general or career military?  I’m not a military guy but I wonder how actual generals will feel taking orders from a tv show host.

Trump draft executive order would set up board to oust generals en masse: Report

Gen Z’s President. Gen Z men are more religious and more conservative than prior generations. They are the hope for the future and will be on the front lines of ridding America of DEI, woke and the other cultural degeneracy and strife that Obama’s Presidency left us with.

Israeli minister draws criticism for saying Trump's win is an opportunity to annex parts of the West Bank

A call from Israel’s ultranationalist finance minister to use Donald Trump’s election win as an opportunity to annex parts of the occupied West Bank has drawn international condemnation and fueled fears about the U.S. ally’s plans.

Bezalel Smotrich said Monday that “the time has come” to extend Israeli sovereignty over settlements in the area — land recognized by the international community as belonging to Palestinians in their quest for a future state.

The Israeli minister welcomed the president-elect’s victory and said he would seek Trump's support for the move.

“I intend, with God’s help, to lead a government decision that says that the government of Israel will work with the new administration of President Trump and the international community to apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria,” he said, using a name employed by many Israelis for the West Bank.

Discussions on plans to annex parts of the West Bank were held between Israel and Washington during Trump’s first term, and Smotrich said that he would push his government to engage with the incoming administration to gain support.

“We will apply the sovereignty, together with our American friends,” he added.

[…]

Smotrich has drawn controversy since becoming part of Netanyahu's hard-line coalition government in 2022.

In March 2023, he claimed that there is “no such thing” as a Palestinian people, and in January he joined thousands of people at a conference in Jerusalem calling for Israel to rebuild settlements in Gaza and northern parts of the West Bank.

Trump's America will include a dumbed down military, straight out of the Stalin, Pinochet, Saddam, Putin, Hitler books of strategy. A move towards loyalty in the military leadership ranks as the means of judgement for fitness will ruin the world's greatest military institution.

The military fitness review process in the U.S. primarily involves evaluations conducted within the military chain of command, focusing on the physical, mental, and professional capabilities of military leaders. This process does not typically involve political appointees. Instead, it is managed by military personnel to ensure that leaders meet the necessary standards for their roles.

This process has evolved over the century of its existence into a great process that largely guarantees seperation of the existing military from the whims of politicians. Through this process, the United States is the greatest military power in the World regardless of which party is in the White House.

Like many authoritarians, faced with destroying democracies in their country, Chile's Pinochet immediately targeted existing military leadership in 1973. He purged them through arrests, reassignment and forced retirements. They were replaced in favor of less competent loyalists who refused to contradict his command, no matter how immoral. He would then use the military to suppress political opposition for his 17 year reign.

Authoritarian regimes often weaken their military by prioritizing loyalty over competence in leadership appointments. They do this to use the military as they see fit, especially against their own citizens. This undermines military effectiveness, as seen in other historical examples like Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, Nazi Germany under Hitler and Putin's Russia. The fear of coups drives this practice, leading to constant strategic and operational blunders. Ultimately, this leads to severe weakening of the military capabilities of these countries under authoritarian rule.

So y'all know that theory about the movie Children of Men where it's actually just Britain that's like that and the rest of the world is still going fine?  We're going to be like that, having rolled back all the advances of the last 150 years of science and medicine, while the rest of the world just continues developing.

I was assured that Trump's reasoning for wanting "the kind of generals that Hitler had" was not tied to the fear of coups / ability to sic the military on his people.  I'm assured of this ...

I'm sure this isn't news to many of you, but re: the deportations ... in Trump's first term, his own policy actually increased the number of undocumented criminals staying in the U.S. by de-prioritizing their removal. Not only was 'Deporter in Chief' Obama deporting a lot more aliens than Trump was, a larger proportion of those deportees were criminals. So really, the 'undocumented criminal' problem was exacerbated by Trump's own policies. He created his own grievance, then got the Bipartisan Border Bill killed, and ran against Biden and Harris using as ammo a problem he exacerbated before Biden ever took office. And the rubes fell for it 100%.

Why deportations actually dropped in Trump’s first term   https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/11/politics/deportations-trump-presidency-what-matters/index.html

Quote

rather than prioritizing the removal of people with criminal records, Trump widened his dragnet by putting less emphasis on immigration action against people who were deemed public safety threats and instead prioritizing action against everyone in the country illegally. This led to Trump’s controversial family separation policy.

Bier argues that by filling detention centers with asylum-seekers rather than focusing on detaining people thought to have criminal histories, the Trump administration ended up allowing more people with criminal histories into the country.

In a separate study, Bier also looked at the rise in detention of people who crossed the border illegally during Trump’s term and found that it did not substantially raise the number of deportations.

Good. There will still be some true Republicans in both the House and the Senate who won't sell out to the more extreme MAGAts. Hopefully they can hold the line and be Trump's guardrails for this term. The MAGAts will deride them and call them RINOs, but anyone who's been paying attention knows who the real RINOs are.
