Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?

Great question. And then you have the ethical questions like "Is it ok to yell 'movie' in a crowded firehouse?" And religious questions like "Does the Pope shit in the woods?"

That's ok, I'll just screencap and post relevant links.

That's fine, it has more to do with the trash performance and lack of free API to fix it than anything else tbh. It also seems like most sports journalists and fans are moving to bluesky as well.

I don't know about that stuff, but if If it's about trash performance, Insta is the one that loads slow for me.  I waited 10 mins for these to load on the bevoette jade lol thread.

Insta and Twitter are both dogshit platforms that have moved past the growth phase of their business and into value extraction. The worse performance and user experience is an artifact of that shift.

Yeah Instagram and Twitter are more interested in loading a fuckton of trackers and a bunch of unnecessary bullshit vs bluesky which is a simple embed with content.

So ... a Pyrrich victory?

Well, unlike the Mueller, Durham, and Hur reports, which mostly did not result in indictments, I don't think this one is going to contain a whole lot of revelatory information.  In the former cases, the investigations remained secret or mostly so.

In Smith's cases, the indictments pretty much spelled out the evidence, especially with that "immunity motion," where Smith had to pretty explicitly lay out his trial evidence to show that none of it comprised immune acts.  There may be a bit more of a narrative to expose in the documents case.  But also in the documents case,  some procedural aspects of it (Trumpco trying to unseal grand jury testimony and succeeding) mean we have seen a good deal of the evidence against him.

In a legitimate timeline, Congress would subpoena the evidence and use it to impeach Trump as soon as he took office.  That's what underlies the OLC memos, the notion that if criminality is bad enough to support a felony indictment against a sitting President, impeachment should be nearly automatic.

But, thanks to a spineless and feckless GOP and their electorate, nooooooooo, that's not how this works at all.

So, homeboy just won an election that was about inflation more than any other issue, and one of his first announcements is that he's going to drive inflation to new heights?

For those of us in the medical field...

How do you think this trump nuttery will impact our field on a broad level? Don't want to say exactly what niche I'm in so just wondering about the overall feeling of what could happen.

Not sure if this is the right place or if this should be it's own thread, but mods can feel free to move it if they want.

Well, I think in many cases, yeah it was "I'm mad about the economy, so I'm gonna take it out on some little(r) people."

I kind of always wonder if people with certain points of view avoid the touchier issues out of concern for what type of follow-up questions there may be (if any)

It's one thing to say the economy is very important and then answer follow-up questions about that.  The worst you can come across is stupid about basic economic principles.  Other issues depending on your particular point of view may get uncomfortable depending on follow-ups.

But what the hell do I know.

First Patrushev, who helped blow up apartment buildings in Russia to get Putin elected, said that Trump owes a debt and needs to repay while following up that he hoped Trump isn’t killed.

And now Putin discusses that Trump needs to be careful not to get killed.

The Russians are sending a message

Merry Christmas to all, including the all the knee-jerk, bleeding-heart liberals, sipping tea and playing patty-cake. And those useless hippie pot-heads, those commie-pinko leftists. The bunny huggers, the pillow biters...The BUTT-PIRATES! And those beastly man-haters, tell those chicks to shave their pits then call me! And those goddamn whiny crybaby minorities, you can keep them all! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

It’s sharpie time

This is so they can start making the case for suspending the 2028 election, or some other path to eternal power. I can see red states declaring that, based on those findings, their electoral votes have to be decided by their state legislatures until the swamp is fully drained. Then Trump issues an EO suspending the 22nd Amendment. SCOTUS will find the suit to be a nonjusticiable political question.

This will be cheered by the MAGA voters.

This will be slept through by ambulatory dullards who form the swing vote.

Non-voters will join in the nap.

Pro-republic anti-MAGAS will raise obvious arguments in clear language to absolutely no effect.

When this happens, this investigation and the bogus report is issued, we'll be a fascist country for real.

MAGAs will crawl out of the rotting anus of the moribund USA and spike the ball in celebration.

Why would he? That would be a step down in power for an oligarch a billionaire

I mean, I wouldn't do it if I had a billion $, but I'm not Mark Cuban. He seems to give a shit & seems to like spreading knowledge rather than hate and division. I love the way he keeps things simple and relatable. If not him, we desperately need people like him in elected offices.

Hey, that OPEC+ deal started April 2020, but when did it end? I can't find it in any searches, but judging from the prices on that chart, it was for 2 years and I guess it ended Apr 2022?
