When I first started reading your posts many years ago I thought you were nuts. And yes, we’ve seen things happen I never would have believed. I’m not clear where this ends. How far does this go?

Well eventually there is a war. Probably not a civil war, but we’ll be at war again because people in the ultimate positions of power like this buffoon like to use their shiny toys to project even more power.

Basically just expect a big war, probably with China because it’s the place we wanted to exploit for profit 80-90 years ago, but Chiang Kai-Shek and his wife were incompetent and fraudulent morons that wasted everything we gave him.

Many of the tech billionaires don't believe democracy is viable and authoritarianism is the answer.  See Curtis Yarvin and Peter Thiel.  Whether this is an honest belief, pure arrogance, or just wanting to shed government interference with profit-taking is more or less anyone's guess.

A fair number of conservative intellectuals advocate something called "common good" constitutionalism.  Although it is technically a theory of constitutional interpretation, it basically holds that authoritarians should tell the people what is good for them, that good being defined by allegedly Christian, mostly Catholic, teachings.  See Adrian Vermeule and Gladden Pappin.

Part and parcel of all of this is accruing power to the executive to rule by fiat and removing checks and balances from the other branches of government, at least until they get in line.

So, that's what underlies all of this.  I highly doubt Trump is even those plutocrats' ideal of a national leader, but he is a useful idiot.  I think Vance is more their type.

It’s money. You always default back to money in this situation. You get access to more it working with an authoritarian government than you do in a democracy. The American oligarchs can get billions more using num nuts than having an actual president and government that tells them to kick rocks and get out.

Read the Twitter responses to Pence’s tweet. There were an avalanche of responses admonishing him for not knowing the history where the Ukraine provoked Russia repeatedly by breaking a treaty and moving towards nato membership, and doing other things to provoke them. There were even posts about Biden inviting Russia to invade.

It’s not “the Ukraine”. Ukraine is a sovereign state (at least at the moment).

the lifetime cost of the f35 program is TWO TRILLION

yes it's stealthy but it doesn't have supersonic supercruise - in fact it can only make mach 1+ dashes for about 80 seconds

can it hover? yes

does it have sigint platform capabilities beyond our wildest dreams? yes

is it any better than a f22 at basic air superiority?  absolutely not

ford-class carriers cost 13b each

the gerald was commissioned in 17

the jfk is coming this year

the enterprise has been laid down

we could cancel the doris miller, bush & clinton and take out another 50 billion over the next 5 years

the nimitz class is being decommissioned prematurely

do we need 10 floating death stars?

do we need f35s when the f22 is just as good and other technologies can handle the sigint?

Did you get this off FB or Twitter, alot misinformation here.

Certainly is for the plutocrats.  I'm not sure what's really motivating the common gooders.  It's Catholic fundamentalism raised to the 11th power, though.

Common gooders it’s just the power trip. No human is infallible and we’re all susceptible to falling in love with being in control of things. Some folks just willingly throw their decency out the window. I’d rather keep my decency for others intact than jump onboard this moral train wreck of an administration.

I can't get over the fact that Trump seems to be pulling this off given his obviously limited intellect, which is likely compromised further by age.  I guess I always thought dictators were evil geniuses, but in reality it seems far more important for them to be able to garner the blind support of a significant fraction of the people and weaponize their fears.  That doesn't take smarts per se, it takes audacity and "charisma" (for lack of a better word).

Musk is no dummy, but is as much of an opportunist as he is a crafty thinker.  He seems to be Trump's Hermann Göring.  All dictators need a right hand man who will actually do the work.  Here we are.

Yeah, I think it's just arrogance.  They think they know how to run shit and should be put in charge.

Remember that Thiel is largely responsible for both Musk and Vance.  He has Trump's ear, one way or another.  I think Heritage/P2025 and Thiel/Yarvin types come at it from different angles or directions, but at least temporarily have the same goals.

That's it exactly.  He says things with a shrug and an, "I dunno, but that's what they're saying," and people excuse it away as trolling.  We love him for telling it like it is, but you can't take him seriously, ya know?

Then the soundbite gets repeated over and over, or the image gets shared over and over, and people steadily get desensitized to it.  This is part of what they mean by flooding the zone.  I'll only be a dictator on day 1, you'll never have to vote again, long live the king, and more to come.

And it's going to work.

Hell, if they get the bright idea to put unlimited presidential terms to a public vote, they'd win it right now.  Yeah, I know that's not how that works, unless they decide that it is.  Who's gonna stop them, the Supreme Court?  Mike Johnson and friends?

So.  Turbo.  Fucked.

No, it's really not.

Biden started with a whole lot more functional brain than Trump ever had.  So it's all relative.

The point being, Trump has never been smart enough to understand the long-term ramifications of hardly anything.  Someone is pulling his strings.

The question being who and why.

The answer should frighten you.

Wow. Yet Biden can run the free world on a 30 hour work week.

Well not all F-35’s are the same.  We don’t have many F-22s and the F-22 is not carrier capable.

And we need to keep those defense workers churning out war machines lest the shit hit the fan. Also jobs program. We can argue highest and best use of that labor, but it is effective.

So if we can just step back, take a deep breath, and realize that Trump (aka President Huff & Puff) is the first dictator in US history; then let me ask you this...when he dies who stops in?

Vance? Don Jr, Eric, Baron?

Spoiler

I think it is Ivanka

Who the fuck are you arguing with? You'd be hard pressed to find someone here who still believes Joe shouldn't have pulled out of his re-election bid earlier, but he was clearly capable at thr start of his term.

Regardless, Biden's capabilities has fuckall to do with Trump being a morally bankrupt dipshit, who will almost certainly be in worse mental condition than Biden before his term is up. He also hires people who are horribly incompetent, at best, and downright evil, at worst.

Careful. You're going to get him started on Hillary's private email account.

Well, I think  you can see the flaw in your logic.... we are quickly breaking the 3 branches off government model, and ignoring the constitution. But maybe that's just my impression of what's going on.

Pitzker speech was her lead, he was good.

Polling is declining for him, over 90% of Americans don’t trust Putin, Trump does. That will impact him.

Some republicans are starting speak out - focused on Ukraine push back, people are protesting, and news papers all over the country including in rural-ish areas are blasting Trump based on headlines she showed.

I won’t sit here and argue with you like Trump is an angel sent from heaven and is a morally unflawed person.
Yet your claim of him having someone “pulling his strings” after the former sitting president had an obviously failing cognitive ability and was baby sat for the better part of his term is funny to me.

No flaw, just a recognition that even if the Constitution continues to be pissed on, the powers-that-be who got Trump to nominate Vance as his running mate will still see to it that he ascends to president if Trump does not serve his full term.  I don't think they give a shit about Trump's piece of shit kids.
