So he is mentioned in a book I read called “ Good To Great” and it’s about 11 companies that performed better than their peers over a long period of time. He was a terrible leader and none of his companies were on the list of profitable companies

I read that book. It didn’t age well. For example, one of the “great” companies it recognized was Circuit City.

What were they doing? That has to be a tour of the university. Twin peaks is about 2 miles away and usually pretty crowded.

Or a co-ed who works at Twin Peaks.   It's Texas State, not Harvard.

So, I am about 45 minutes away from there and never caught measles as a kid and don't have the vaccine. Should I get a vaccination in the event this explodes through the area?

In my experience, swine flu, various flus and Covid always seems to march west from SM/NB. Those fucking cocksuckers.

How did you get into UT without MMR? I couldn’t find my records from elementary school and they made me go get one before enrolling freshman year

I am going to call my doctor tomorrow just to make sure I am up to date. I would get vaccinated ASAP. You don't want to get measles immunity the old fashioned way.

I lost my record a long time ago. I was planning on getting the full run. Might as well now.

I need the record for overseas travel mainly. I know I got it all as a kid. Was mandatory before we could go overseas.

Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine

there is no way you went through grade school/UT in this country and didn’t get it.  Now you may need a booster if you haven’t had one in past 10yrs

As others have mentioned it’s a combo shot. If you went to public schools in Texas you had to have it. I’ve had like 3 extra boosters from not keeping track of my records. One at UT, one as a resident, and one in practice (hospitals are always asking for your immunization records)

also don’t forget

You may need one of these because pertussis protection only lasts about 10 years

Out of curiosity, what was the time frame of these mandatory immunizations? I remember being a kid in the 80's and other kids getting Mumps and the Measles but I never caught it. All my childhood and teenage shots were administered by the military, I was a dependent. Anyone that had medical records from those days remembers an envelope with a fat stack of sheets. Those have been lost to history.

I do remember submitting immunization records but I wasn't paying attention at the time.

I've had the DTaP shot as an adult, that I remember getting.

Well nobody because who the hell worries about mumps, measles, and rubella in the 21st century? But oh wait, they are back! So I guess I will get one.

Mmr wasn’t always the shot. It evolved over the years to have all 3, but I don’t know the timeframe for each evolution.

but I’m 46 and had mmr in the early 80s so from then on for sure.

Last time I had an MMR booster was for a work trip to SE Asia. Ironically, I'm now on a work trip in Indonesia and probably safer than back in Texas.

Given that it's Monday morning and a rather dreary one at that, this seemed like a good bit of commentary as a reminder that the sifting and winnowing of who will be "us" and who will be "them" has been underway long before this administration took office but the acceleration of the divide will be more stark as the year(s) progress.

Me too. Had to go to the health center and get it either during freshman orientation or before classes started because I couldn’t find my records.

I got a full slate of vax back in 2019 for travel. So I think I'm good.

I think we are going to get the whole family vax record reviewed and shots updated - kids had all theirs when they were young but I don’t know if others are recommended now.

Go to your physician.  They can test you for your vax levels based on antibodies (or something like that).  I was good on MMR, but need to up my Tdap.

Also, any vax that isn't covered by your insurance, you can get at a negotiated rate that is (*reasonably*) affordable at the travel vaccine clinic.

I couldn't count the # of times I had to contact my kids' pediatrician to get a record for school, college, soccer, you name it.  You'd think I'd file those away, but nope, I just pestered the doc every year or two.

Isn’t that the one that feels like molten lead going down your arm? I KNOW I got a booster for that before I went to China.

Gonna go out on a limb and assume that measles are pretty far down the list of concerns for anyone who was at Twin Peaks for dinner on Valentine's Day.

had to do further research, per their social media 2/14 years as red lingerie day, followed by bikinis and binis. those girls have to be freezing at work
