I'm not sure it's been brought up on this thread, but where in the hell are Biden, Clinton, and Bush?  Why the hell are they not holding press conferences talking about the danger of fascism?

Their silence is their complicity.  Fuck 'em all.

Maybe they've got their own "leopards eating faces" thread and they're over our bullshit too lmao

It's called flooding the zone. I am sure Dems are saying something but all the media is covering is Trump/Elon 24/7.

They're doing what good patriotic Democrats do in the face of a rising fascist autocratic regime -- bitching about it on an anonymous internet forum.

Hmmm, I see your point but considering that Kristi "Flamethrower" Noem is the Secretary of the Dept. of Homeland Security which oversees the Secret Service and also considering some of the issues  surrounding the Jan 6 events (deleted texts etc), maybe they went with keeping a low profile?

ROTFLMAO

As for Clinton and Biden (you left out Obama and Harris), wtf do you expect? They told us already and no one listened.

I thought I'd seen Obama and Harris speaking out, maybe not.

Also, profit-seeking psychopaths.

At first it sounds amusingly hyperbolic.  But then you think about it for a second:  corporations have no empathy, no concern for their fellow "man."  Nor should they be expected to.

Therefore, the government has a role, and a pretty good-sized one at that, in limiting the damage done.

Stewart is very astute.  He's good at comedy, but unlike his right-wing "peers," it's based in truthiness.

*apologies for any racist implications here, but the number of "religious" people (fundagelicals, fundy catlicks, and Jews) going against longstanding traditions of their faiths is something about this whole timeline that really disturbs me.

I don't know the percentages, but I suspect less than a majority of "faithful" Americans actually believe what their particular religion teaches.  I won't go so far as to say it's all cultish, but there is absolutely a comfort and routine factor in play for many, and the self-reinforcing sense of superiority can't be ignored.

Smart? They are in survival mode now and are continuing to fall in line after years of threats from the authoritarian. What media outlets exactly do you think are big enough, and willing, to reach Trump's eyeballs and affect him? Twitter blew up so elmo bought it. The same mega corporations own all the TV outlets.

The media will not be our savior.

How many votes will it take to quickly impeach his ass?

12 hours ago, Surly Bevo said:

In theory the majority to impeach in the House and the 2/3 to convict and remove in the Senate hasn't changed.

In theory

But even in practice, exactly where are those votes coming from in the House, much less the fucking Senate.

So we get President Ryan who then appoints somebody as bad and so on. They should still impeach if they can, but how far down the line of succession do you have to go to get someone who is simply decent and acts in good faith? Drop a convicted (again) president down that hole, and you'll never hear him hit bottom.

Musk would have been gone long ago were this not true, in my opinion. Musk's resources allow for finding and buying just about anything. He holds Trump's debts or the pee tapes or something worse.

I didn't quote the post about "God's plan," but it does bring to mind an observation I had back when AIDs invaded the scene and it was thought of a "the gay disease." A lot of church-going Christians gloated that it was God's punishment. My belief is that any divine order to the universe would be based in irony and self-fulfilling prophecy.

The irony god (he/she's not pompous) lays down a contagious disease. People dedicated to Christ refuse to help or even empathize. Many laugh. The Christians are consumed by the disease because they refused to help. Then they get to face HIs judgment.

So many Christians will be so fucked if they are correct about Judgment. And what did you do for the exhausted famiiies arriving with almost nothing looking to join you flock? Surely you fed them, gave shelter, and comforted them. And for those of my flock that you found offensive, surely managed tolerance. Correct?

Hit it, Charlie!

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”

That's worth a look. No evidence yet as to who the murderer is, but conspiracy theories have arisen that she may have been killed or assassinated because she's a DEI hire and responsible for the LA fires. Spends her life in service and gets stabbed to death in her own home. Horrible no matter the motive.

“A suspect has not yet been identified, but investigators believe that the victim knew the perpetrator and are treating this case as a potential domestic violence incident. However, the perpetrator's motive remains unclear.”

We lead the free world in shame. We'll end up being a scorpion stabbing itself to death.

Or maybe I should be encouraged by the town hall rage. I'm glad to see it, but I just wonder if the Trumpists will replace the now-hated representatives with guys who will focus soully on non-heterosexuals and persons of color. That was the stuff that made them feel good. I bet they love the Guantanamo story above.

And now in what I’m sure is a total coincidence, the senior JAGs that must have convinced the administration to clear Gitmo have all been fired.

Obama said a week or two after the election something like "America just showed that it's not really concerned with preserving democracy." I think they're all kind of in "Hey, this is what you voted for. Let's see how bad it gets" mode.

If everyone was in utopia while he ruled, sure, I think he could pull it off.  They're most certainly not.  OR if everyone was totally fucked preTrump - they were not.  So no, this won't fly.  Too many guns and even the run of the mill R are tiring of his shit.  The 'look over there' gambit works until people feel pain themselves.  The townhalls and social media diarrhea shows they're very much starting to feel it themselves.  And it's not going to get better.  The plan was always to fleece the middle class and poors.  All the other shit is window dressing for the clowns that back him.  Anyways, popcorn on the ready.  I won't need to pull any triggers myself...but if needed, I can afford plenty of munitions for us all.

There was a time during dotard’s first term that GQP reps were getting pushback at their public appearances. They stopped holding public appearances and the rubes fell back in line. Same thing will happen again.

These were USDS employees that were swallowed by DOGE. The USDS is where a lot of the talent from the tech sector worked and actually modernized and created efficiency within the federal government's IT landscape.

They were what DOGE pretends to be.

And they are absolutely correct.  Get the fuck out of here with the “where’s Biden, Harris, Clinton” bullshit (not directed at you specifically).  They warned everyone for months telling everyone exactly what would happen.  Now its happened.  Everone needs to bend over and take it and don’t look for the dems, who control exactly ZERO out of the 4 power centers, to save you.  Dems need to sit back and do absolutely nothing, cause nothing they do and have done makes any fucking difference to this idiotic population.  Maybe if a few of million die or starve or we get in a great depression people will bother to vote.
