I had dinner last weekend with a family member who voted for Dotard at least once. He fucking hates him now, and is ashamed that he ever supported him. So, it does happen.

Same with my Dad.  Every time I talk to him he's ranting about Trump being a stupid mofo

Given how pathetic and outdated your "meme game" is (Rosie O'Donnell, really? as if she were somehow some sort of an au courant liberal avatar), my guess is you're getting mighty close to retirement age, that is, if you haven't already surpassed it. So, yeah, you would know all about social security, old man.

You'd better pray the senile senior citizen whose dick you're sucking on doesn't take it away soon.

Went out to eat this evening at a place around 30 miles from the house.  The drive there is rural with a few small towns in between.   There's a bar on the outside of one of the towns; you can picture it in your mind.  Gravel parking lot, lots of beer signs, you get the idea.  Not much different than the Double Deuce.

Huge flagpole in front.

A Trump flag was the highest flying, with a US flag below that.  The third flag on the pole was some other MAGA variant flag.

Now, I'm not fully versed on flag etiquette, but it was my understanding that the flag of the United States is to be flown the highest on a pole, when multiple flags are on the same pole.    Guess the fine folks (ahem "patriots") who run and frequent this establishment feel differently.

In February, Chris Stanley, who currently works as a security engineer at two of Mr. Musk’s companies, SpaceX and the social media platform X, went to the roof of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the White House complex to explore installing Starlink there. Mr. Stanley has also been working with Mr. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency as a special government employee.

As Mr. Stanley opened a door leading to the roof of the building, which is directly opposite an entrance to the White House, he tripped an alarm that alerted the Secret Service to his presence. It created a dramatic scene as a uniformed officer rushed to respond, according to four people with knowledge of the incident.

You are now:

(c)

No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: Provided, That nothing in this section shall make unlawful the continuance of the practice heretofore followed of displaying the flag of the United Nations in a position of superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United States at the headquarters of the United Nations.

Me?  I’m all about law and order and will never violate law.

Just musing and all, mind you, but it seems that a lot of Republicans are not resisting because they are literally afraid for their physical safety and their family safety from maggots.

I wonder what would happen if many of the Trump appointees abusing their power and doing all of this crap arrogantly without any worry of pushback suddenly wound up dirt napping because unhappy people did a Luigi on them?    It seems that the threat of actual violence is a very persuasive thing, and you wonder if it is a tactic that will eventually be utilized by more than one side.

I could see this happening. Unfortunately, Dotard would see it as a good excuse for suspending habeas corpus, imposing martial law, seizing liberal media outlets, et cetera.

These people are willing to torch the Constitution, our allies, our economy and way of life at the altar of their god-king. Not too surprising that they're not all that worried about the Flag Code.

I'm thinking about becoming an evangelical pastor and starting a church, eventually a mega church.

Seems to be one of the surefire way to turn a profit in the Trump era.

Squirt Yurts for everyone!

Every time I see this thread title pop up I can’t help but read it in Eminem voice.

America, uh,

This is Trump’s America, yeah,

How do you like it?

I was born in the land of the free,

But it feels like freedom’s been stolen from me.

They rally behind him, but can’t you see?

It’s not the land of the free, it’s a country of greed.

This is Trump’s America, it’s turned us away,

It’s a circus of lies, man, we’re all just prey

I'm not sure Kristol was ever on the Trump train. I remember when my dad would hush the kitchen table when the guy came on the teevee during the 1980s. Later, after 26 years of Fox News conditioning, he thought he was a RINO. Anyway, Kristol, as an actual conservative with conviction, has been critical of Trump for years.

But, yeah, I don’t disagree.
