Fucking insane that I’m having to consult an immigration lawyer acquaintance and consider postponing a trip to visit my wife’s family in Brazil because she’s a green card holder. Although her getting stuck there and forcing my hand to move to Rio may not be the worst thing. I hate this fucker.

I wouldn’t leave the country as a green card holder. To the GOP, your wife doesn’t belong here. It’s a much lower bar for them to ban non-citizens from coming back into the country as opposed to attempting to kick them out. They can even spin it as a reevaluation of her immigration status especially if she’s had any issues even as simple as a speeding ticket. That makes her a criminal in their eyes.

and don’t think for a second that someone in the WH isn’t thinking this. His name rhymes with Stephen Miller.

I had a young engineer from India on my team for whom I did a great deal of work in getting him a permanent visa.  I don't know where he is now, but I'm concerned, because rules don't matter.

They called FL House seat 6 for the republican, Randy Fine.  This is a deep red district.  I'm guessing the margin is much closer than Trump's win in the district. No results in from the other elections yet.

so gmail huh?

Waltz and staff used Gmail for government communications, officials say

Trump’s national security adviser is trying to manage his way out of a crisis. But new revelations about his team’s operational security are piling up in the inbox.

...

A senior Waltz aide used the commercial email service for highly technical conversations with colleagues at other government agencies involving sensitive military positions and powerful weapons systems relating to an ongoing conflict, according to emails reviewed by The Post. While the NSC official used his Gmail account, his interagency colleagues used government-issued accounts, headers from the email correspondence show.

That is disappointing. Weil’s ads were phenomenal

It's deep red.  Oddly, the election is too soon into his term to really hurt them yet.  A year from now, this might have been a winnable race.  But as of now, Social Security cuts haven't happened yet.  Tariffs haven't been fully implemented.  We have only seen the tip of the iceberg we're about to hit.  Many of them still think Trump's only going to hurt the libs.  It will be too late when they figure it out.

Jesus. Yeah she should not leave unless she’s prepared to be denied reentry. I’m so sorry.

Taking your wife to Brazil is like taking beer to a keg party. You will love Rio though.

Yea. It’s looking like a pass for now. Especially because her Brazilian passport is still in her previous last name while her GC is under mine. Already got a little flack for that coming back from Japan under the other admin. She has no legal issues here but don’t want to give them an inch.

Trump gonna try to beat it at next year's SOTU

More likely that Trump will just lie and claim by the end of next week that he gave a 57 hour speech to a private audience consisting of the couch fucker, Elon, his cabinet, Laura Loomer, Kid Rock, and Conor McGregor. They will all lie in support of him and it will be like every time he wins a golf tourney at his own course. Trump will then proclaim himself the greatest speaker of all time.

And then a strange administrative error will land Cory Booker in an El Salvador prison with everyone claiming they can’t get him back.

Wisconsin is interesting.  Susan Crawford has an early lead, but adding voter ID to the state constitution is also winning, and winning big.  Does this mean a lot of GOP voted for Crawford?  You would think the Dem vote is voting no on that amendment.

I don't think voter ID is an indicator of much. The majority probably see it as common sense, no big deal, and an easy decision because they don't think through it too much. Hell, I'm about as progressive as it comes and don't have a problem with the concept, per se.

The issue is how it gets implemented when they make it as difficult as legally possible for folks, especially those living on the margins, to obtain one.

Democrats should never have gotten painted into a corner on that issue, but as usual they were wrong about the politics and also misunderstood their own electorate (and didn’t bother to ask them). But nevermind anybody’s opinions about the issue or history, Democrats should be vocally supporting voter ID now because in the year of our lord 2025, low propensity voters favor the GOP

On the plus side, a lot more R voters are going to fall into that category

Looking at the map, that Schimel guy did not run up huge margins in most rural districts.  I'm seeing a lot of high 50s and low 60s.  A lot of GOP voters crossed the line.

How many people are going to be ticked tomorrow when the switch 2 costs $499 instead of $399 thanks to tariffs?

If the Democrats are smart, they'd make Elon the face of the Republican party. He's just weird, and no amount of his own social media is going to cover up that fact. In fact, I think the more he's seen/heard the weirder he'll be thought to be.

Appreciate the sympathy. This is minor compared to what others (including yourself) are going through, but still sucks. She literally chose me over moving to Portugal in 2020 so hoping that doesn’t turn out to be the worst decision she ever made, ol fuckstain is making that look like a possibility.

She chose you over a location because she LOVES YOU. You know this. Go tell her how thankful you are to be her husband for no other reason than to just say it. I think it’s beautiful that she picked you to share a life with. Things will change and these idiots will eventually be gone, but you can’t replace love.

Nah, you're the better choice. The Portuguese like to make fun of Brazilians (probably jealous that Brazilian Portuguese sounds much better/more lyrical than European Portuguese). Even speaking my terrible Brazilian Portuguese in Portugal, I always get the "you speak Portuguese very well... for a Brazilian!" followed by peals of laughter. Of course, Portuguese people are great and it's all good-natured....

(seriously, though, I hope for the best for you both and agree that right now might not be the best time for her to leave here) 🤬
