It's not about the cost - it's about making a big fucking scene and daring people to protest it so that he can start deploying blackshirts

Revised National Parks Webpage Describes Harriet Tubman As Human Trafficker - The Onion

Quote

WASHINGTON—As the Trump administration continues to alter the version of American history that appears in government publications, sources confirmed Monday that a page on the National Parks website had been revised to describe Harriet Tubman as a human trafficker. “Operating between 1851 and 1862, the notorious human trafficker Harriet Tubman stole approximately 70 African Americans away from their homes in the southern United States,” reads a post on the National Park Service page, which now refers to the Underground Railroad as one of the most prolific human trafficking rings ever to operate on American soil. “Tubman would kidnap people in their sleep, including children, and carry them off to locations as far away as Canada. Despite the best efforts of American lawmen to bring her to justice, Tubman remained at large over the course of 13 separate kidnapping raids into southern states. Even in her later years, she never once expressed remorse for displacing her victims or violating the property rights of their owners.” At press time, the Parks Service had reportedly rewritten its page on Rosa Parks to describe her as a terrorist bus hijacker.

UT claims it was threatened by the federal government that it would lose all federal funding and accreditation, if it did not scrub any vestige of DEI from its operations. Apparently, UT is so frightened they shitcanned microbiological research they had previously decided to fund when NIH funds were withdrawn.

A war on science? A war on women? Both.

It's too bad UT doesn't have the autonomy to tell them to fuck off about accreditation.

My daughter’s microbiology research at UT Health was terminated today. In her meeting, she was told about a letter in which the federal government threatened UT’s accreditation.

Is your position that no matter what the dems did they could not win the election because of stupid voters? This is where I disagree. There is and will always be uneducated, stupid and biased voters. A smart leader is able to overcome it. Muslim voters felt like they were not being heard, and they wanted to punish the incumbent. That's usually the natural outcome when a demography feels like they are not being heard.

The problem going forward is going to be how dems can relate to people who feel like they are not being heard. Do you accept it as inevitable and blame the "stupid' or do you craft a strategy to overcome it? We lost a few important supporters like Musk and Ackman with a huge following during the last election. These people are not stupid. They just formed an alliance that they thought would benefit them more. Ackman was pleading Biden to drop out for months and then he switched sides. To ignore the mistakes as someone else's problem is the recipe for failure again.

@UTEE97  I think this is a very complicated issue and not something as simple as crafting a message.  Harris had a message and Muslim-Americans didn't give a fuck about it.  Trump had a message, and Muslim-Americans didn't give a fuck about it either, they voted against their interests and behaved irrationally.  The message doesn't matter if someone isn't willing to listen.

We didn't lose Musk.  Musk was always who he was.  He, just like Trump, tried to win over crowds by repeating what they wanted to hear.  But in both cases, their actions and behaviors drove them to find acceptance in the right, as they spewed hate and found more kindred spirits there.   Musk wasn't stupid, but he wasn't even remotely the genius that branding attributed to him.  You could see it in Tesla if you paid attention to the signs, and you could see it on full display since he took over Twitter, embraced drugs more and more and craved more attention.  His duplicitous nature was revealed to all very quickly as was his unmet need for acceptance and genuine friendship.

Let's get real, one doesn't switch from Biden to Trump and think this is in the best interest of the country.   Ackman as of Dec 2024 making claims about the "deep state" and thought Biden shouldn't be able to do his job after the election took place, a throwback to the bullshit Cocaine Mitch pulled.  What is even more impressive is the hubris of this unelected billionaire thinking he could tell the President how to do his fucking job and what was within his control.   I cede nothing to the oligarchs.  Ackman was likely promised he would have a hand in reshaping America along with other billionaires.   And they have.  They have flushed the goodwill and kept the turd.

Once again, the idea that the left can simply craft a message and get people to follow is simply not realistic.   As measles cases rise, we have a carefully crafted message, backed by unassailable science and research for an effective control and containment.  And yet people avoid it, to their own detriment and to the detriment of others.

Are you willing to share, at least vaguely, what kind of research it was? Asking solely for when I'm arguing with one particular person IRL in mind and he says, "Maybe they should've pulled the plug, dude."

UT has been ordered to scrub any vestige of DEI from its curricula. I’m assuming a flagged word is associated with her research.

No it’s related to federal money getting pulled, and NONE of these universities are willing to spend a dime of their billions of endowment to fund commitments.

My daughter’s research was actually being funded by UT, a decision made after the NIH funding was withdrawn.
