We’ve moved beyond law firms and are now just targeting individuals who say things Trump doesn’t like.  Today he signed an executive order targeting a former government employee for “falsely denying that the 2020 election was stolen and rigged.”

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/04/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-addresses-risks-from-chris-krebs-and-government-censorship/

Quote

ENDING GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP: President Trump is committed to ending government censorship of Americans and believes that those who engage in such conduct should not have access to our nation’s secrets.

Krebs, the former head of CISA, is a significant bad-faith actor who weaponized and abused his government authority.

Krebs, through CISA:

Suppressed conservative viewpoints under the guise of combatting purported misinformation, and recruited and coerced major social media platforms to further its partisan mission.

Covertly worked to blind the American public to the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Promoted the censorship of election information, including known risks associated with certain voting practices, and falsely and baselessly denied that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen, including by inappropriately and categorically dismissing widespread election malfeasance and serious vulnerabilities with voting machines.

Skewed the bona fide debate about COVID-19 by attempting to discredit widely shared views that ran contrary to CISA’s favored perspective.

On a related note, Dominion just won a judgment that Newsmax defamed them as a matter of law.

Trump appointee McFadden enjoined the White House from keeping AP out of the press pool.

https://abovethelaw.com/2025/04/former-national-security-officials-take-aim-at-trumps-biglaw-executive-orders-in-amicus-brief/

The brief, filed by the Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic at Yale Law School and Susman Godfrey, takes particular aim at “the President’s attempt to invoke national security to justify this punitive, retributive, ad hominem Order.”

Trump's attempt to create presidential power by encanting "foreign affairs" and "national security" over matters having little or nothing to do with either is probably the grossest abuse of his powers, notwithstanding its lack of effect on little people.

I just came across this in a discussion and thought it summed up MAGA rather well.

Del Glasz MAGA'S denial of reality.
After 8 years of interaction with MAGA, it is clear to me that it is the case.

It's why they support a convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and adjudicated fraudster, that came to power by starting the birther movement when we elected our first black president.

Facts don't matter to MAGA.
Trump feeds his base lies. They use those lies as a permission structure (cover) to support him while hiding their racism, bigotry, homophobia, and transphobia.

They can hide behind Trump.
Out from the shadows.

That's why "Haitians were eating pets" when they weren't ... or black, brown, or the disabled may have caused a tragic plane crash.
That's why they won't take 2 minutes to do research or totally deny reality.

They NEED to maintain that relationship with Trump.

They aren't fooling anyone like they did in his first term.

Don't argue facts with MAGA (that they can look up in 2 minutes).

Ask yourself why they accept lies (that can be looked up in 2 minutes).

Here is the offending language of the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program  (PREP) program she was enrolled in:

”The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UT Health San Antonio provides an individualized, diverse and multidisciplinary learning environment for students to develop the knowledge, skills and creativity necessary to succeed in the evolving biomedical disciplines.”

Here is a link to UT Health’s PREP program:

The whole program has been obliterated, apparently, and recently too.  Or maybe restyled without the "DEI" stuff.  https://uthscsa.edu/biomedical-sciences/programs/certificate-pre-professional

She was a researcher/student?  Or an administrator?

That's fucking disgusting.

Because we are living under a dictatorship…that’s why.

When talking with others I've been referring to it as the regime.  It is not an administration, as that would require management and as far as I can tell, there is none, only chaos and dictates, so a dictatorship and/or regime (regimes can be democratic, but let's be clear that this is not the case based on the last 3 months).

Apparently, a few days ago, senior government officials filed an amicus brief in the lawsuit Perkins Coie filed against DOJ because of Trump’s executive order.  Those senior government officials are represented by Susman Godfrey (and a Yale law clinic), who wrote the brief.  Yeah, Trump was coming after them.  Susman had some strong language:

Quote

The Constitution did not make the President a king empowered to punish subjects arbitrarily based on animus or whim. Even setting aside the many constitutional rights violated by his Order, the President possesses no general national security power that empowers him to sanction U.S. citizens simply because they disagree with him. Nor does any Supreme Court decision or historical practice authorize the President to unilaterally issue punitive bills of attainder targeting American citizens against whom he holds discriminatory animus. If national security considerations can justify this Order, then national security could be invoked to justify any arbitrary executive act. Left undisturbed, this Order will jeopardize the executive’s ability to call for judicial deference in those cases where national security is genuinely implicated.

Some research universities have not eliminated or hidden their DEI departments and policies; out of curiosity I looked at my alma mater (UW) and they still have all their info up, including "Inclusive Name Tools" and "Transgender Resources" among others. I'm sorry UT has approached it in the way they have by informing her they won't even consider her, including telling her that an interview at any research university will be sabotaged by the notation. For now, that's probably not completely accurate. (Tomorrow, who the hell knows?) I feel terrible for her and others in her position, excitedly starting careers, who have this disgusting shit sandwich served to them by their own country. Rage.

Yeah, despite what I said above, ask not for whom the bell tolls; it also tolls for all of us eventually. Today visas were revoked for 9 students at the UW, 3 at Seattle U, and 2 at Gonzaga. None of the institutions have any idea why, nor were they or anyone else notified. SOP. At least the UW is providing legal and counseling services to the 9.

The difference being that UT is getting it from both Trump and state government.

I'm not sure what legal remedies universities have against this, if any.  I'm not reading much about legal pushback on this.

I thought about mentioning the state's role in this, but figured everyone here was already aware of that (and I'm certain it is a major factor - and it is definitely a difference between the two situations). That said, telling her that no other research university would be likely to interview her goes above and beyond what UT can or cannot do itself - at least for now.

I've been curious about what can or can't be done legally in this matter as well, and also have heard very little around here about what the universities are trying to or can do. One thing they can avoid doing is kowtowing, since Columbia has shown us that bending the knee gets you nothing but a slightly delayed kick in the balls.

There are a few different ways that could be interpreted:

  1. I'm sorry but based on political climate including executive orders and threats to withhold funding to any university that has DEI related programs you're likely to have a hard time getting interviews at research grant universities, you might try the public sector instead.
  2. Sorry, Lib.  Daddy's home and said you can take your woke ideology and use them to keep you warm at night.

Only 1st hand interaction and context would offer insight to which end of the spectrum this was.

Full on Orwellian. What Trump did leading up to the election, on election night, and through January 6 was the worst shit a US president has ever done.

Who was the republican who said in December 2020 "What's the harm in humoring him?"?

"Individualized and diverse" modify the "learning environment." Nothing to do with PEOPLE hired for diversity. Diverse in this statement simply means the nature of the learning environment is varied... similar to "multidisciplinary."  J F C
