Heard a snip from President Huff & Puff q&a today - egg prices are down 93 or 94%. So if eggs were $5.00/dz, they would now be $0.35 or $0.70 for $10/dz. Anyone here seeing eggs for less than $1 dozen.

Okay move along, nothing new just 1 more thing that is said by our fearless leader that has no truth to it or facts that it is based upon.

Comments like these are great. Even the morons know it’s not true. Every little irrefutable lie helps chip away at their blind obedience. It also allows us easy opportunities to make fun of him when we’re around the morons, and they’re forced to take it without response

nope, not in the least - it doesn't even register to those in the cult, and if confronted they will either ignore the question or say it was a rhetorical or indicative directionally but not to be taken literally. They wouldn't believe he is a follower of Satan, even if Lucifer himself was to introduce Trump one of his ongoing cult rally's.

I did this just this morning for my wife.

She's going out of the country in early May on a girls trip.   I took an old iPhone to ATT, got a new number and the international plan for a month, created her a new Apple ID just for this single phone, installed no social media apps, only put on the esssential contacts and only the apps necessary for the trip.   She's paranoid about having to hand over her phone when she re-enters the country, so I set up a phone she can just hand over and never look back.

She'll have a dozen apps loaded before she gets back.

I've always been prepared to do that.  I do not enable any biometrics.  I will not give my passcode, as doing so would allow access to my email and other portals through which I have client communications and materials.  If they say "if you don't allow us access, we'll just seize your phone," I'll say "cool, have it."  Because 1) I can go buy a new one for $1k, 2) unless they have REALLY good reason to access my phone (and they really won't), it's not worth the cost and time to try to break into it, and 3) I'll send a nice piece of correspondence to CBP and the DOJ before the day is out informing them that they seized a device that has attorney-client privileged material on it, and as the know, that requires them to take certain steps to insure that any access they obtain does not intrude on the privilege.

And then I'll go buy a new phone.

@Brisketexan I fucked up and can't directly reply to your post.  If I send a single email to a lawyer I know, can I make the same "attorney-client" claim?

Considering that you can have him on retainer for a 6 pack of Lone Star and some beef jerky, of course.

If it’s an actual A/C communication, then you can claim that the device has privileged communications with your attorney.

For search warrants directed to attorneys or their offices, USDOJ had (past tense may be key here) a policy that required review and approval of the warrant at Main Justice including a plan for segregating without unnecessary review of privileged matter from an attorney's files, property and devices.  And those reviewing for privilege had to be "chinese walled" from the prosecution or investigation team, so that even snippets of privileged information couldn't be used by the prosecution team ("I saw an email to Gotti  . . . .").

You may recall this was a big to-do when Giuliani's and Cohen's cell phones were seized.

But by letting them know you're a lawyer, or if not a lawyer, that your devices contain attorney-client communications, you should be able to make life harder on them.  Should doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

That’s not how cults work. It’s not chipping away at anything other than their grip on reality.

And without blinking they would ascribe the same behavior to democratic voters regarding Obama, Biden, et al. It’s truly just team sports to them.

Crazy times when you have to start making requests for the next Android update to allow you to take pictures / videos without unlocking the phone AND prevent the deletion of those pictures while still locked.  IYKYK.

ETA:  Apparently, you can hit the home / power button after taking a pic and that cuts off access to that picture until you unlock the phone.  If someone grabs the phone out of your hand while you're shooting, they can delete whatever pictures / videos you took in the most recent session, though.

Perhaps I haven’t told you this yet: in the early days, I wrote two letters to the editor of the local rag, one overwrought, the other comic. Neither had any effect. Those who agreed with me agreed with me; those who did not remained unpersuaded. After a third attempt was rejected, I found myself pulled over, up near the house, for no reason I could discern. The cop (nice guy, just a kid, really, from my perspective) asked what I did all day. Did I have any hobbies? I said no. He said, Some of us heard you like to type. I sat in my car, looking over at his large, pale arm. His face was the face of a kid. His arm, though, was the arm of a man.

How would you know about that? I said.

Have a good night, sir, he said. Stay off the computer.

Good Lord, his stupidity and bulk there in the darkness, the metallic clanking from his belt area, the palpable certainty he seemed to feel regarding his cause, a cause I cannot begin, even at this late date, to get my head around, or view from within, so to speak.

Fiction, but we're getting there....

Trump also allowed Venezuelans temporary legal status before he left office, which people attribute to the influx of other Venezuelans after he left. Yet, Republicans used her death by a Venezuelan to hurt Biden. They are playing on a different, evil level. How Dems messed that one up is crazy.

My answer to what makes sense in this MAGA turn our country has taken:

The resistance cares about the one-off.

If even one person is wrongly deported, the process has to change.

If even one person is wrongly executed, the process/laws have to change.

If even one child dies of the measles, we need to increase vaccinations.

If even one person dies of tainted food, we need to increase food inspections.

The MAGA - for thee and not for me approach accepts casualties as long as they don't affect them.

If it's suspected criminals or immigrants -- what are we even talking about?

If it's a few hundred thousand dead people - well that's just pre-rapture paring down.

I told my wife last night that the GOP thinks that if they limit payments to married couples having kids that they think that will be a backdoor way to mostly pay white people because they think black families won’t qualify nearly as often.

Shari Redstone 'destroyed' CBS News/60 Minutes

https://www.semafor.com/article/04/22/2025/shari-redstone-kept-tabs-on-60-minutes-segments-on-trump

The Scoop

Paramount owner Shari Redstone in recent days sought to know which upcoming 60 Minutes stories were about President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the situation — triggering a series of events that ended with the Tuesday resignation of the show’s longtime producer.

Producer Bill Owens resigned abruptly this week, complaining that he no longer had the editorial independence to run the iconic Sunday evening news show.

In a note first shared with The New York Times, Owens said that “over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for ’60 Minutes,′ right for the audience.”

“So, having defended this show — and what we stand for — from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward,” he wrote.

His resignation was the culmination of months of tensions between 60 Minutes and Paramount, which has taken greater interest in oversight of CBS News.

Following Trump’s demand that the FCC inflict “punishment” on CBS over a recent 60 Minutes piece on Greenland and Ukraine, Paramount executives, including Redstone, asked the program to provide a list of upcoming Trump-related pieces it was reporting on for the duration of its season, which ends in May.

A spokesperson for Redstone denied that she saw or sought to see 60 Minutes pieces, and emphasized to Semafor that Redstone and Paramount were not seeking to kill stories. But one person familiar with the situation noted that Redstone had both publicly and privately criticized 60 Minutes in recent months, a trend that resulted in Paramount’s decision in January to appoint Susan Zirinsky, the former CBS head, to oversee its standards.

A fourth source who spoke with Owens in recent days said the former producer had grown concerned that CBS’ corporate parent was becoming too interested in 60 Minutes — and that was making him uncomfortable. Owens also did not enjoy the additional scrutiny from Zirinsky, who since January had been reviewing sensitive stories as part of a push for stricter standards within CBS that was supported by Paramount.

Owens’ resignation comes as Paramount is hoping to close its merger with the entertainment company Skydance, which continues to be under review by federal regulators. Last year, the Trump campaign sued CBS over what it said was deceptive editing of a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. While CBS has stood by its reporting and editing, Paramount has sought to settle the lawsuit, reportedly choosing a mediator to oversee the talks.

Here's the actual quote:

TRUMP: “When you say per capita, there’s many per capitas. It’s like per capita relative to what? But you can look at just about any category and we’re really at the top”

we're first, because we're last

Swear we used to have laws and shit to prevent that kind of thing from happening. Oh well.

Well, ackshually, we kind of didn't.  We had norms that most or all Presidents respected.  The Emoluments Clause sets a norm, but without a statute/law enacted pursuant to it, is basically unenforceable.

One of our problems is that our do-nothing Congress has been lax in enacting laws that constrain the behavior of public officials, in no small part because they would constrain Congress as well.
