Surely you can't be serious....can you??

I think we agree on a lot of points.  Trump is just the symptom here.  Things will be mostly fine for the next 75 years imo then get bad, fast.  But the next 4-8 years won’t have us on the verge of a civil war.
Also what country are these people that are so frustrated going to?  Honest question.  I travel frequently and I still don’t see a country where some dirt poor minority has even close to the same chance to become a damn billionaire or whatever the fuck else they please to become.

Ask @PenelopeWitherspoon.  He is in the process of leaving.

Honest answer: your guess is as good as mine. I’m not a doctor but I believe the flu shot is dead flu strains that the CDC believes will be the predominant strains based on cases in Australia or southern hemisphere countries. These dead strains are added to the base vaccine and administered accordingly.

Again, no idea exactly. But we will find out soon enough and that’s exciting.

Exciting? I kinda prefer the predictability of the approach the medical community currently employs.

But fuck it. Chaos gets clicks.

For me, Trump doing a "good" job would mean doing absolutely nothing.  He's going to fuck the judiciary beyond belief with appointments and stop arming Ukraine and look the other way at Israel, but after that nothing.  No federal abortion ban, no deportations, no new or increased tariffs, no dilution of NATO.  I'd consider that good.  He can build some stupid wall as a vanity project, rip off the federal government to Trump Co's benefit and do some other dumb shit that doesn't matter much, but other than that let the government atrophy for 4 years would be as good as we can get.

does anyone know how many there are?

stage 2 they will figure out "in 2 weeks"

So uh shouldn’t we secure the border before the deportations start?

I totally agree with you that Trump is the symptom of our democracy failing, not the cause of it. I suspect he will hasten it but only time will tell.

I disagree on your time frame, but that is just a gut feeling, I'm not a fortune teller.

The root of the problem is the fabric of our society is coming apart. Hell there are tons of angry liberals in this thread that are basically saying "America is too stupid for democracy" -- This is an extremely undemocratic (small d) opinion!

I’m saying where would you want to grow up ass poor if you have aspirations of making it big or your children doing very well. IMO good ole USA is still the best place to be.

I fear you're falling into the trap of what America used to be. Sheer inertia will continue our standard of living for a while, but the gnashing of teeth from a lot on here is in reaction to a very clear changing of the guard. Hell, I'd argue that the rags-to-riches story of American Exceptionalism hasn't really been a legitmate outcome for 20 or 30 years now; just look at real wage growth over time, or the accumulation of wealth (and how America USED to deal with this level of disgusting aggregation), or any of a 1000 other signs that basically boil down to "rich get richer."

And before you say "yeah but it's always been that way," it hasn't been that way to this level since the days of Rockefeller. And it took a Great Depression, and then the most liberal progressive president the entire world had ever seen to turn it around, which led to the actual creation of that American dream we all cling to. Unions, jobs programs, welfare programs, wider access to health care, pollution control programs, widespread education programs.

The REASON that the last 5-6 generations of Americans think that this is the best country in the world to come be a 'self-made man' is because of all the social programs put in place to make it possible, and they're almost all unilaterally under attack from the incoming government and it's mega-rich supporters.

look for abbott and paxton to be asking all school children to have updated citizenship status. they’ll make a list. if you round up the kids from school, the parents will show up and turn themselves in

It hasn't been that way for a long time, I'd rather be in Germany,  England (even with all their problems) or any Nordic country. Really any place with universal healthcare, free schools and a social safety net you're more likely to be better off, now if you're rich then America is still a great place to live or immigrate to like Elon Musk

I’m agreeing it’s getting worse and I also said it would fall off a cliff in under 100 years.  Inertia is a good thing.
Climate change etc - there’s a lot that looks horrible in 100 years that looks only uncomfortable in 8 years.  Glad we decided not to have kids over here…

$250k gets you 17% of Class A split with the CFO and myself (i.e. first 3 in control 51%)

Tons of family in UK and been to all those places.  You know all the refugees they take in over there?  They would absolutely kill to be over here.  They look just like my brown ass and you can go over there and ask them. I know more than a few.

Democracy was never meant to be quick, lean, and efficient.

It's meant to be relatively fair, safe, and help people feel like they have agency.

The absolute best government would be an objectively benevolent dictator. This is a highly theoretical concept that is great while it lasts, but how do you keep it? The dictator's kid will likely be a schmuck.

I don’t think we are disagreeing on much.  I’m just resigned to the fact this democracy was gonna end up like all the rest.  And yeah, the ones who voted for Trump…many of those will suffer the most.  I guess I’m happy I won’t suffer.  Yay

I want them to overreach but the way Musk wants, 0 deficit, shock therapy, austeraty, this limits damage to the economics a lot more than family deportations. Lastly they affect everyone (except super rich), we all must suffer.

RFK being in charge of anything might be the wildest shit to come out of this whole nightmare. Trumps cabinet will be an all-star team of weirdos and misfits. When Elon sits at that table, he will genuinely be the smartest man in the room.

The budget deficit is around -$1.8 T. Discretionary spending is about -$1.6T with just under half being military.

I know Elon is generally full of shit, but you’d have to make serious Social Security and/or Medicare.

So, yeah, we’re all gonna feel it.

They voted for a convicted and admitted sexual predator - a man whose family had a charity that stole from children cancer patients - a man who is cheated almost every contractor he ever employed, and his employees admitted during his trial they might be fired if they paid what Trump agreed to pay in a contract without getting it reduced.

They voted for a man who made fun of people with visible health problems, voted for a man who said police should smash the head of presumed until innocent arrestees on police cars, a man who only the stupidest human beings on earth would be able not to tell was a pathological liar and narcissist, a president who stole national security documents - and then lied about it and tried to hide them after he stole them, and a man who swore to take revenge on the news, political opponents, and anyone who opposed him.

You have the fucking gaul to question calling those people ‘stupid’ under those absolutely true and unquestioned facts

The fabric is coming apart because those fucking idiots are too stupid to tell that the fabric is coming apart, and support the least honorable or stable or competent or intelligent president in our history.

i would wager at least 25 million trump voters are taking social security, medicare or both

let's see how that goes down

First to go, accelerationism is our only long term solution, someone mentioned FDR before, we need a great depression for priorities to realign for people to understand voting has consequences.

As a former conservative, let me remind you of the "free shit army" that was a very popular political theme at TOS.

The sentiment that the electorate is too stupid to vote is a #bothsides thing.  But the conservatives criticizing the free shit army was at least criticizing an electorate, or portion thereof, voting in its short-term best interests, at least.  Now they're not voting in their self-interest at all.

And, only one side is actively attempting to deny votes to the electorate, and by no means just the stupid ones.

And I hate accelerationism as a voting strategy but not as a don't interrupt your enemies making mistakes, I was terrified that we were banking on perfect candidates every 4 years to remain normal, there is a rot in the foundation and it starts by people not understanding how good they have it, they will if shock therapy happens.
