Kristi walks a difficult tight rope: explaining why we are deporting the Venezuelans who fled their repressive authoritarian country, while still keeping her Trump family dick sucking mouth position in the “available” position.

Have seen similar mouths in the fishing thread.

Political violence including riots have to be soon to follow, right? A part of me thinks that we’re going to go out with a whimper with nary a protest. What else is there to do? National strike?

Riots aren't going to do shit at this point. Trump could fully send in the military with all guns blazing and a large portion of our country would cheer it at this point. It ain't getting done in the courts and it's definitely not getting done in congress.

I fear we have but one option left....

I mean....seriously....let's break that down.

1) The CIA LITERALLY created a list of every person the agency hired in the past two years.  A list.  Of all of them.

2) It then sent that list....via fucking EMAIL....to the White House.

Think of all the movies and TV shows you've seen built around the plot device of there being a list of US spies/assets, stored on a thumb drive or somesuch, which was much sought after by our enemies, and the hero had to chase down and secure "the list" before it fell into the wrong hands.

Today?  The administration just types up the list, and sends it via unsecured email.  Which can be hacked by every single foreign state that exists.  For fuck's sake, I bet even Vanuatu has someone capable of hacking fucking email accounts.

Yes, the adults are DEFINITELY in charge now.

Jesus tittyfucking Christ.

But Hillary hosted emails on a private server. Game, set, match!

If people have jobs still, there will be no riots. The avg American doesn’t have time for all of this shit, even though it affects them. They will get up, go to work, bitch and moan and then go watch TV.

If all they are going to do is extend the tax cuts, that would be a relief. That is pretty weak sauce shit. WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED AT...MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO!!!

Anyway this is why I don't protest. It just makes them happy.

I just hope every single eligible voter out there voted this election. Some people like activism until it comes down to the actual time to activate your voice. If those that get shit on in Texas would get off their asses and fucking vote, we wouldn’t be getting shit on in Texas, imo.

So I thought my local Whole Foods being out of eggs was just the local store.

For some reason, I’ve fully bought in on the egg crisis when I saw no eggs (and a sign!) at Costco. That means this is serious.

And I eat 30 eggs a week.

You ATE 30 eggs a week.

Literally just got back from buying eggs at the Tom Thumb and there’s a “we ain’t got x y z because bird flu and other shit” sign on the eggs coolers. That may not be word for word, but you get it.

It drives me fucking crazy how you will have these terminally online people who talk to me about politics and their whole damn identity is politics yet won't vote most of the time. Like WTF? I hate politics and I vote in every election.

Generally I hate talking about it, I just post here when shit is so insane I have to come here to cope.

6 eggs today. I feel like someone is going to break down my door to steal the eggs I have. I need to stop giving them away, but I have too many. It costs very little to redneck a coop and buy some pullets. Fuck HOA rules as well. Everyone should be doing it. It takes very little effort.

I thought this was interesting. This is a maga person’s response to a republican wondering why Trump sounds a lot like Putin in wanting to invade Greenland, Canada, Panama….

*************

Hey just saw this on a friends post - ??

In the interest of pointing out misinformation.  In Dec 2023 there was a decision by the World Court, that gave water above land shelves to those countries and ruled they were not international water.  The renaming of the Gulf of America isn't renaming the whole gulf.  It is renaming the area above our land shelves as our territory.  You can't exactly put signs or border walls in the middle of the ocean.  So for legal reasons, we need to identify these new changes on the map, so that new borders are made clear to maritime traffic.  Those new maps will set the latitude and longitudes of where our border begins, or the Gulf of America. So all maritime traffic knows when they are leaving international waters.  This is where knowing what is happening in the world, will help you filter out drama, and help you understand the legalities in your own country.  This had nothing to do with Trump's ego, he is strengthening our borders and making sure all maritime traffic understands the changes that happened in 2023.  Putting legal protections in place to help us enforce any military actions or incursion in the future.  Betting most of you never realized the US grew by thousands of miles.

Likewise some of this radical idea of buying Greenland and possibly Canada. has nothing to do with his ego.  That has to do with the race for minerals in the Arctic Ocean, protecting our borders,  and getting us the legal right to help Europe protect their borders from the Russian and Chinese fleets that have been doing damage to infrastructure.   If Greenland is the territory of the US, but still their own country like Puerto Rico, then we have the legal right to have a base there and the legal right to protect the waters around Greenland.  The whole premise right now, if we were to go help Europe it would trigger an act of war. We would have to wait for Nato action to do anything.  If we have the legal right, to be there. Legal right to protect Greenland, then any response to defend our territory is not considered an act of war.  It makes it easier to help our Allies.  Also, like as not, Russia and China have been making plans to invade Greenland.  I have been hearing they are trying to buy up land around harbors in several countries or eyeing what they can take by force.

So Trump is not crazy. Not being an egotistical dictator.  He is trying to strengthen the U.S.  and working to provide some checks and balances that strengthen our ability to help Allies and prevent another world war.  A lot of countries are getting we are the lesser of the two evils.  Media not so much, they have grown allergic to fact-checking, and understanding any complex issue and just become about stirring drama rather than reporting facts, all of the facts.

And we want the Panama Canal back. It should never have been given away. I was very young when Carter did that, but I knew what he did was unmistakably wrong.

Loved having chickens. 3-5 fed us very well. Hopefully the feed doesn’t jump in price too badly.  Don’t have enough yard space anymore to give them a few hundred square ft to roam.

and tractor supply has their prefab coops on sale often, if spending  a little cash for something that is nice and quick assembly suits someone more than rednecking it with pallets and boards or whatever.

I will give a whack at disputing it.

When Gingrich became speaker, he told told every republican congressman not to argue policy with their Democratic opponents, but to demonize their opponent as bad people: enemies of the country who wanted to hurt the country with their policies - that they were socialist communist liberals who were against God and American values.

That was a very effective strategy for the next 30 years.   Because dems telling Bubba that they are NOT a godless atheist socialist will not win the day.  It’s like the LBJ story about how he told his political advisor to spread the story that his opponent was having sex with barnyard animals.  When they told LBJ that it wasn’t true, LBJ said “Who cares? let’s get the son of a bitch to deny it!”  So debate content was no longer about issues so much as it was about God and country and “family values”

And people like Karl Rove perfected the art by having wedge issues like burning the American flag become pivotal in an election.   The Republican senators and congressman knew that the first amendment gave you that right, exactly the same right as standing on a soapbox and saying, “ I disagree with my countries long-standing racism”, or “ this country sucks because our foreign policy is literally killing people who are innocent.”    Republicans back then knew that the liberal position was true, but they also knew it was not politically effective to agree with supporting the constitution when Bubba wants to beat up the guy who would burn the flag.     It was brilliant, because taking the mature responsible position on preserving our constitutional liberties will get your ass defeated in an election.

The second thing that the Democrats were not responsible for is Rush Limbaugh and the advent of conservative drive time talk radio, and Fox News becoming what it is.     You are blaming the Democrats for not being effective communicators when the other half of the country are sworn to not listen to Democrats or any news that Democrats might be on, because it is “fake news”.     The active communication you blame democrats for failing requires two parties, one of whom agrees to listen to the other person communicating an idea.  They don’t do that.  In fact, listening to the other side or reading something from the other side’s news source is an act of treason that is against your team.

The other problem is that there are numerous studies showing that people on the right embrace black-and-white simplistic ideology.   They have no time to learn why the Middle East is not all Arabs, but also Persians.  They have no interest in learning about Sunni and Shia and Wahabism - they are much more receptive to “bomb the desert into glass”, and “ make Gaza a beachside resort”.

The short way to put it is that nuance and complexity is not something they have an interest in.   That is why “drain the swamp” has such an appeal. that is the only thing they need to learn to say. They don’t even have to know how to explain it to someone.

There are other tangential issues like diminishing education, a total lack of emphasis on critical thinking and the liberal arts (the biggest sin being the word “liberal”, which does not mean what Cletus thinks it means).

The other thing is the rise of the toxic fundamentalist evangelical Christian community, and their desire to push theology over secular debate on issues.    If the magic sky fairy du jour tells you what rules to put on in vitro fertilization legislation, who are mere mortal democrats to oppose that?

The more the GOP took the low road the more successful they were.  I do not know when it happened, but we reached a tipping point.  We should’ve seen snowbilly Palin‘s popularity as the canery in the coal mine.  But alas, what she was selling is exactly what the voting population wanted. If the economic crisis of 2008 had not happened, McCain would’ve likely won.

Finally, I’m not saying Democrats don’t have a lot of old and new feet wounds from their shooting.   But I disagree that they could overcome those other factors.  and I did not even go on a tirade against social media, another huge promoter of tribe thinking.

TL;DR

Apparently, we get the country we deserve.

Smart people are smart. Nice.
