The conversation about grief in Wind River is just gut wrenching, but has actually helped me get over loss in my life.

The final scene in Hell or High Water, Chris Pine's speech to Jeff Bridges, is fucking all-time in a movie, imo.

Burke is a good source for things being broadcast. He's actually in a legal fight about sharing clips from a feed that wasn't being broadcast at the time.

And yup, the replies included DOTUS being booed, as you and I highlighted)

Oh for sure. Wind River is one of my favorites. When he nails it, he nails it.

He just also has quite the collection of lower-effort projects with lazy ass writing, shameless self-marketing and product placement, hilariously written "strong" female characters, and not so subtle political messaging.

But, when you're responsible for 83% of all shows on television, there are bound to be clunkers.

Harsh on my part. He's either a MAGA choad or he's smart enough to realize the profitability of throwing out red meat to that crowd. I'll give him due credit and assume the latter.

In Lioness, it's pretty comical. Two seasons of dudes kitted out to the nines pausing mid-gunfight to give exposition on what "the administration" allows to happen (or conceals) on the border.

Even Kevin Costner's masturbatory "I am the wall against which progress dies" speech in Yellowstone. It's pretty damn heavy-handed and clearly meant for a certain audience.

Doesn't bother me enough to stop watching some of his stuff--and, to his credit, everything he touches seems to have a floor of turn your brain off action and entertainment--just eye-roll inducing.

There's a rural, working-class white-guy zeitgeist going on in entertainment.  It's not inherently MAGA, but it does sell well to people who don't see 21st century progress as worth a damn, and that's a big overlap with MAGA.  Taylor Sheridan is seen as having his finger on this pulse, much like Puff Daddy was seen as having his finger on the pulse of urban black culture.  I don't care, fucking entertain me as the world burns.

Lulz. Okay, YouTube videos do use the question mark in their URL. At the end of that URL there should be “?v=“ followed by a string of characters that need to be included. Then if there’s an ampersand (&) after that, delete it and everything else that follows.

I am most grateful for your advice, Buck.

Was watching a random video about the NAMM Show (big music industry sales show in LA). They had run a poll of 548 attendees.

One of the questions was "who did you vote for?" Roughly half the people were non-citizens, but of the other half, only 8 said they voted for Trump.

Maybe we should let musicians run things...

In Texas, failure to report observed child or adult abuse is a crime:

Quote

Section 261.101 of the Texas Family Code mandates that anyone who suspects child abuse or neglect must report it immediately. The report may be made to (1) any local or state law enforcement agency; or (2) the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Failure to report suspected child abuse or neglect is a Class A Misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $4,000.

I'm slow. Browsing the NYT site, there is headline after headline of terrible decisions. Terrible policies. Likely terrible results. How can anyone think this is good government or even decent? It's kind of like a love it or hate it TV Show.

Only, it's not like TV. It is TV. This is The King Trump Fiat Show!

Tune in at noon, King Trump will sign an Executive Order getting rid of those weather scientists at NOAH who keep lying about climate change and the paths of hurricanes. We'll get live reaction from the socialist libs as they cry!

Then, at three o'clock, talks about his beautiful plans for Gaza once we get the filthy Palestinians out. Have you seen their country these days? It's a shit hole. King Trump is going to make a better deal and tuurn somebody else's land into paradise.

At five, we play Which Ally Are We Going to Screw Today? King Trump may threaten Denmark with an invasion of Greenland. King Trump may sign an order making Canada a state. Or maybe, he'll pull out of that scam called NATO altogether! Watch at five if you want to find out!

BREAKING

“I always abide by the courts,” Trump says after several policy priorities were halted
From CNN's Donald Judd

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will “always abide by the courts,” after reporters asked if he’d follow a judge’s ruling if it blocked one of his administration’s policy priorities.

“Well, I always abide by the courts, and then I’ll have to appeal it. But then what he’s done is he’s slowed down the momentum, and it gives crooked people more time to cover up the books,” Trump said.
“So yeah, the answer is, I always abide by the courts, always abide by them, and we’ll appeal, but appeals take a long time.”

I haven't watched any of Taylor Sheridan's stuff, except for occasional clips that pop up on my social media or a scene as I'm channel surfing.  I will say that early on in the Yellowstone run, when I didn't even know what it's about, I stopped on a scene where the Beth character was in a trough, taking a bath and drinking champagne, then got out and walked nekkid up to the house.

She looked like a good time.  I understand that her character in the show may have been a POS, I really don't know.

And as Forrest would say, "that's all I got to say about that."

I literally only think I'm missing Bass Reeves and Lioness at this point. And you're saying you think Taylor Sheridan is a border obsessed MAGA choad?

Not sure about border obsessed but I have little doubt he is a narcissistic MAGA choad who forgot how to write a decent screenplay about the time he produced Yellowstone.

There's a little back story as to why Trump wanted to attend the Superbowl at a taxpayers' cost of $20 million. It appears that the Philadelphia Eagles won the Superbowl when Trump was in office the first time. They decide not to go to (snubbed)  the White House to meet Trump.

So, his petty A$$ thought that it would be good revenge to be in the audience when Kansas City beat Philadelphia in the Superbowl.

So, his petty A$$ thought that it would be good revenge to be in the audience when Kansas City beat Philadelphia in the Superbowl.

Trump’s fractious relationship with the NFL predates the anthem controversy. Long a frustrated wannabe team owner, he made a failed attempt to buy the Buffalo Bills in 2014 in what turned into a fierce rivalry with a bid spearheaded by Jon Bon Jovi. And as the owner of the New Jersey Generals, a team in the defunct United States Football League, he led an ill-fated anti-trust lawsuit against the NFL in 1986 with the aim of forcing a merger. But he was feted by fans on a visit to a Pittsburgh Steelers game last October, while in his previous term as president he named the co-owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson, as ambassador to the UK.

The Republican wrote on Friday that it “WILL BE A GREAT GAME!!!” However, the state of relative calm between Trump and the NFL might be contingent on the musical entertainment and whether the Chiefs win their third successive title. The half-time show is not usually overtly political but this year it is headlined by the rapper Kendrick Lamar, whose 2015 track Alright was adopted by Black Lives Matter demonstrators. In 2017 he rapped: “Donald Trump is a chump”.

Trump, meanwhile, hailed the Chiefs on social media after their AFC Championship Game victory over the Bills a fortnight ago: “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs. What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers.”

He also praised the Bills. But there was no mention of the Eagles thrashing the Washington Commanders earlier in the day. Philadelphia won the Super Bowl in 2018. That year Trump scrapped their invitation to the White House - an honor habitually afforded to the victorious team - after it became clear that almost none of the players or staff were willing to attend as a result of his divisive conduct. Last year Trump depicted the heavily-Democratic city as a crime-ravaged dystopia. Another Philadelphia victory might re-ignite hostilities and explode what appears to be an uneasy truce – or else offer more evidence that the sporting climate has shifted from resistance to acceptance.
