Daley Plaza?  Maybe he will come to Dealey Plaza for a photo . .  um . . opportunity.

Also, Faber College actually had graduates?  Who knew?

What do people hope to accomplish with these protests? Trump and co don’t care (if people even let Trump see them). The GOP doesn’t care (they support P2025). MAGA is all in on anything Trump does and chalks these protests up to Trump derangement syndrome. It seems like a waste of time and energy.

Yeah I'm not sure what this even does. Protests need to be peaceful but completely disruptive to something to work. Everyone going out and being pissed off that things aren't going well isn't gonna do shit but make people feel like they did something.

These protests should happen any time doge tries to enter a building or when they try to close a park etc.

Protests need to be violent on one side or the other or they get ignored. History has shown this.

Not sure I agree with violence, but protests need to actually be disruptive and cause something. They can't just be a way to get your feelings out

Hugo is right. A general strike is the way.

But I'll believe it when I see it.

Something about bravery in solidarity… maybe folks need to see they aren’t alone in their anger and bigger things build from this?

I don't want violence but as a black person we never got anything accomplished unless there was violence by us or against us.

Not trying to be a dick, but that is a totally different thing than this. If every black person in the united states protested or did a strike it was only 11% in 1960s and its under 15% still today.

If half the population protests or strikes then shit will happen real quick.

No offense taken Imma. I just don't believe that anything will happen with this dude in office. Trump had to have a "get off the field" guy to keep him from giving orders to shoot protestors. He is deporting college kids that peacefully protest, and holding their Uni's hostage financially. Same dude was laughing about Musk firing protestors at Tesla. The only thing that will get through will be tearing the motherfucker up.

We ARE talking about a dude who just levied tarriffs on the entire world.

Tariffs which Congress can revoke, so turnip isn’t the only target; and violence opens the door to martial law.

I am onboard with a strike. These protests might spark such an event. Confidence, as we have been reminded, is contagious.

Humans are social creatures. I see some value in organizing people and getting them out of the house and off their phones to see and feel other people’s anger with what is going on. But, yeah, it’s a first step and if there aren’t subsequent steps like our representatives actually acknowledging that this shit is wrong and actually doing something about it, it’s likely a waste of time.

Was downtown for other things and just did some casual protesting. Very calm crowd. A lot of boomers which was a pleasant surprise

Every journey begins with a first step...so they say.

Probably the desired end result of this entire undertaking.

Can’t strike if you are laid off cause the economy is in the shitter.

Yes! The criticism of people actually taking public action because they're not doing it to some strange standard is idiotic.
Somebody does something more than I do? I'll just clap.

My question wasn’t meant as a criticism - I just genuinely did not see the point. If it’s a starting place - great. If it’s for the feels for those folks - also good.

This could be a situation where social media becomes a positive. Bluesky is plastered with pictures of huge crowds across the country, including in several red states. Hopefully there's some FOMO of those staying at home and the next round of protests are even bigger.

Plus, I'm sure that at the protest sites there are plenty of activists signing people up to phone bank, sign petitions, etc just like at a political rally.

This lady says is better than me.

I know how you feel about Ronnie Reagan, but the last chance we had at a general strike was when the gutless piece of shit Lane Kirkland didn't call for one in 1981, and left the air traffic controllers twisting in the wind. He could have brought Ronnie to his knees and completely changed the trajectory of unions. My pops was always on strike during that time. Pipe fitters striking? Electricians? Carpenters? All the trades strike in solidarity.

If we really want to make this visible, people need to be in South Florida impeding Trump's access to golf courses.   If he had to sit in the Beast  beacuse the roads were blocked with tens of thousands of protesters it would make the news and it would rattle him.   Then, do it when he's on the way to Air Force Once for the ride back to D.C.   Ring the White House perimeter with thousands and make him remember what the Lafayette Square protests looked like.

Make him uncomforable.  Tempt him into forcing an error like trying to clear out the protesters again.  Somethign that the media, no matter which side, can't ignore.

Peaceful is good.   But I think some violence is going to be necessary.  By both sides.

There is some part of me that’s chasing a cheap high and some just wanting the LULz from creative signs. Anything I learn that might work to get a non-voter to the polls is a bonus. Yea, it cost me a Sat morning, but I’m in a walking boot and can’t do much anyway.

I'm 100% behind the protests, but in the end the only thing that matters is the ballot box. There are big rallies and momentum for Kamala in October, but more ignorant maga people came out to vote and we got what we got. Wake me when all the marches, rallies, and momentum doesn't get a fucking idiot elected.

I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere credible that it’s statistically impossible for turnip to have won all 7 swing states. He also said something like muskrat did his fixing in Pennsylvania.

I’ll go to my grave believing their accusations about stealing the election were confessions, just like every other fucking accusation they make.

We are throwing the most advanced health science research system into the sea and have turned over our public health infrastructure to quacks and crooks. We are destroying our prosperity to sate the president’s desire to play at 19th century political economy. We are blithely ignoring the potential for war with former allies as Trump crows about annexing Canada and Greenland.
