Read up on Saparmurat Niyazov (Türkmenbaşy) if you want to see our future.

1.) in 2002 he renamed the days of the week and the months (including naming January after himself).

2.) He made it mandatory for schools to teach his autobiography, Ruhnama, and eventually it became part of the test required for people to get driver's licenses. He famously stated that the only two needed books were Ruhnama and the Koran.

3.) Created a new Turkmen alphabet

4.) Closed the Academy of Sciences

5.) Shut down the internet in 2000

6.) Closed all hospitals outside of the capital.

7.) Closed all libraries outside of the capital.

8.) Cut pensions causing the deaths of thousands

9.) Removed all dogs from the capital

10.) Replaced the word for bread with his mother's name

11.) When he quit smoking, he made it illegal in public and for all government employees

12.) He banned car radios

13.) Banned video games

14.) Required doctors to say an oath to him instead of reciting the Hippocratic Oath.

15.) Built a mosque that could hold 10,000 people as his mausoleum  where he put scriptures from both the Koran AND Ruhnama on the walls.

Although not everything was bad as he did ban lip synching at concerts in public.

The lip synching ban had to be to effectively ban drag

That was already illegal, he just hated lip synching so he made it illegal. Turkmenistan is/was an incredibly interesting place.

Here's a video of the president after him "winning" a horse race, until it faceplants and the video was smuggled out after threats to journalists in the audience.

You'll notice that the other jockeys are letting him win before he faceplanted. I'm assuming Trump's recent golf championships are exactly the same kind of thing.

Princeton, Harvard, and Cornell have all told the Trump administration to pound sand. These big law firms could find some similar backbone.

Not many schools (even private) can do that.  Harvard is reportedly risking $9B in federal funding.  Their endowment is just over $50B, and even so they would be restricted in how they use it.  This will lead to serious program cuts.

I think what we’ve seen from Columbia is that if you acquiesce the targets you have to hit to get that mythical money are never ending and never achievable. With the added reward of handing the keys of the school over to this clusterfuck administration to do whatever they want with the school.

I will not be shocked if he goes after AOC, either via the DOJ or ICE.  He has shown that he has no problem deporting immigrants, and he has said he will now target US citizens.  She's probably near the top of the list.

So now the Trump administration is withholding $2.2B in funding to Harvard? I fully expect the next step is to revoke the visa for every international student and faculty member.

I lived in Uzbekistan during the waning days of the brutal and bizarre Karimov dictatorship.  I was there when he tossed his once-favored daughter Gulnora (pop-star name: Googoosha) into jail for maybe being a witch.  We used to talk about how fortunate we were not to be in Turkmenistan where it was really weird.

Googoosha video apropos of nothing.

Yeah it is going to suck, but what choice do you have? It is either that or lose your institutional independence.

Trump's used Air Force One, at taxpayer expense, to travel from West Palm Beach to Miami—a drive of just over an hour—for a UFC event.

doge !!!!!

Having a MIL in Palm Beach and a SIL in Coral Gables, I'm familiar with that drive, and it's a motherfucker.  But a helo would work quite well.

The plan is to request that Congress rescind $1.1 billion in federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the taxpayer-backed company that funds public media organizations across the United States, one of the people said. If Congress agrees, that will amount to about two years of the organization’s funding, nearly all of which goes to public broadcasters including NPR, PBS and their local member stations.

Probably send her to some filthy women’s prison. With a mean lesbian warden. Where their clothes are all ratty and stick to their bodies because of the heat, and sexual favors are traded like

Sorry I blacked out there for a second. But yeah if he’s disappearing people like AOC then we’re past civil war stage.

Someone else will have to post whole story. I'm on my phone in Paris.

In the Trump regime’s letter to Harvard demanding a complete eradication of diversity, equity and inclusion, they, in that very same letter, demanded Harvard implement “viewpoint diversity” throughout the university.

Somebody should tell them…
