George HW Bush. And they abandoned him for it.

GHWB increased taxes.  THAT is why they abandoned him.

Then in 1991, he signed a bill increasing taxes.

His son, GWB, DID propose reducing spending, though.

But, it would have involved reforming social security.

The Democrats shot that down.

Really...

That's all you have now?

I'm curious.

Did you try to bring me back because you wanted honest, intelligent discussion, or because  this echo chamber has run off everyone that is even remotely conservative?

Or were you were you being disingenuous and just trying to bring me back so that I could get attacked by the denizens on this site?

Narrator: no one wanted him back.

For grins, obviously. I don’t think of you as remotely conservative*. That said, you do have an interesting point of view on things and generally present it in good faith, and that’s why I tapped you in.

*in all honesty I don’t, but I would also say that about the vast majority of voters in your coalition.

He does.

And it would be amusing (to me, I'm sure not you) if he trolled people and named it Trump University (yes I know about the other one).;)

of course you would be amused. one, you're aggy.  two, you find the world's richest man and possibly/probably most powerful person in the country trolling the majority of our citizens 'amusing'.

that is what a third of our populace and our incoming 'leadership' aspires to. trolling.

I know that’s what was sold to the rubes voters, but his real offense against his party was fiscal conservatism and a serious approach to deficit reduction.

Other than his massive debt funded tax policy and wars of convenience and also new entitlements and and proposed borrowing to finance the transition and stuff, sure.

Define your version of "conservative".

Maybe others that were conservative bastardized your/the definition.

Maybe the left has been able to stigmatize your/the definition.

I'd like to see your view.

HOWEVER...I'm going to steal this from someone else I know because it definitely fits me:

I'm no longer a "conservative". I'm for whatever limits domestic government, keeps taxes low, maximizes liberty, while always putting Americans first. Find a label for that and I'll take it.

I don’t Agree that you have been,  other than your obvious support for lowering marginal income tax rates for top earners. Do you have examples of the others?

Who gives a shit?

Is agwithkids of the opinion that Bush's war in Iraq was money well spent?

I came across the figure of 36 trillion in uncollected taxes, due to tax cuts.

That's a good point.  I wonder if the payback from hiring extra IRS agents might be a good return on investment?  I'm sure he's 100% behind that.

I'm not sure I really believe you care about "fiscal conservatism" or deficit reduction.

I know you couldn't post on this site regularly espousing those positions without getting shit on.

What were GHWB's:

a) massive debt funded tax policies

2) wars of convienience

iii) new entitlements

D) proposed borrowing to finance the transition (and what "transition"?)

Name the posters that are conservative on here.

Shouldn't take you long...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I tip my hat to any person who can say they were wrong. I have and probably will be in the future.

That's a good thing and maybe a sign you haven't been paying enough attention.

Didn't realize you were the left to Karl Marx...

Nope.

I think society is most prosperous (which should be all our aims, but isn't) operating at the right blend of democratic government rule and free enterprise, but thank you for unintentionally illustrating the Overton Window in which we exist and the casual nature in which you post such a thing that would be taken seriously in a multitude of forums.

Someone who has never voted for the GOP since the Reagan Revolution.

How's that?

You made the accusation. The onus is on you.

List the posters in this lib hellscape you believe who have never once voted GOP.

How do you get that from what I'm posting?

Are you implying that I don't want taxes kept low for people that are not top earners?

IDK what examples you're looking for.

Do you have someone that shares your positions that you have had an opportunity to vote for lately?

b) WTF are you asking about "Bush's war in Iraq"?
