So, what's it gonna be?

Yea, at this point it’s hard to feel bad for the demographics that are about to be shit on when they’re the ones that voted him in. Crushed for those that didn’t though. Me and mine will be fine.

He'll overreach, just like last time, which will lead to a loss of the House in 2026. Depending on the state of the economy, he might screw things up just enough to get a Democrat voted back into the White House in 2028.

Or he'll take the extremely good hand he's been dealt and play it well enough to ensure a Republican successor.

But more likely than not, I don't know shit about fuck.

If by “mine” you mean you have kids then they will definitely not be “fine” because they’re future world just became a lot more problematic. We just got set back even further on solving the problems presented by global warming. On November 5 when we set a new record in Central Ohio with a high of 80 degrees on Election Day, we elected a science-denying president who believes global warming is a hoax and renewable energy is dangerous. If you are a parent then your children and grandchildren and all your future progeny in the next several generations just got fucked worse than they already were.

Thanks a lot, democracy.

Right there with you. That chart that showed how each income class would fare under each candidate’s economic plan had us FIRMLY in the black. I live in California with my two daughters, so we’re relatively safe in that regard. We can easily absorb an increase in the cost of goods. I’m exploring which investing strategies to use in the case of massive inflation and an economic downturn.

The people who most wanted to vote him into office are the ones who will be most hurt by it and I’m here for it. I’m in the leopards eating faces phase now.

Same here.  I'll likely take home more money under dotard.  I will be enjoying a boatload of:

scha·den·freu·de

/ˈSHädənˌfroidə/

noun

noun: Schadenfreude; noun: schadenfreude

pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.

"a business that thrives on schadenfreude"

Trump knows what to do to unite everyone. Both D and R want to pack the Supreme Court. With him gaining control, this would be a great bipartisan accomplishment he will target right off the bat.

i read a ton of posts in The Supremes thread. I think the consensus was for him to get the court up to 15.

Pretty much exactly this, also in my estimation the more Trump economic policy that gets enacted, the worse the economy will be around midterms so while Donald thinks he is winning, he is really losing things for MAGA GOP in 2026. Gonna have survivor guilt for a while as being a mid 30s white man, things will likely shake out just fine for me at least at first. Will be preparing for the eventual "well they finally came for me" over the next couple months before Jan 20th.

Not me. I am surprisingly serene, not at all what I expected.

Prognosticate.

I'm curious what people think is next.

I know what I believe, but I want to hear from y'all (both sides, as you say).

Now what?

The exit polls don’t lie.  Men making under 100k elected Trump.  It was all economic pain and immigration.  Democrats suck at messaging.  Democracy out front is not the issue.

Abortion is a niche issue and identity politics really only works for certain races.  Trump would have won in 2020 but for the Rona.

I am going to sit in my corner with my tax cuts coming and count my blessings.  We’re going to see some shit I think, so I’m going to make sure my kids are ok and their future secured.

I am going to be a lot more transactional about things and I am definitely retiring sooner than I thought because I do think there will be a housing bubble coming with low interest rates being pushed hard.

Inflation is going to come hard in about two to three years after we start QE in February again.

Think he would add 6 spots and not pack the court with 6 more 40-year old conservatives hand picked by the heritage foundation, you know the project 2025 sponsors.

I’ve set up a decent life for myself and I’m an oldish white guy so I expect to do well under a Trump presidency. Did great under his previous admin and even better under Biden. Still I vote for Dems because it’s the right path for future success for more Americans.

Won’t have any sympathy when many Trump voters struggle. I guess the ones who compete with illegal immigrants for jobs will do better. Not sure about other lower wage voters. Their losing will show the libs up.

My guess is they're going to try and create a Reichstag fire-type of event.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichstag_fire

I don't think they'll burn down the Captiol or anything but they're going to create an event traumatic enough to suspend civil liberties and go from there.  It will likely be "illegal immigrant" related.

It likely won't happen b/c dotard is such a moron, but some of his cult is smarter than he is, so we'll see.

Let me get this straight. You are going to enjoy lower taxes, keep your kids safe, secure their future, and retire early? All while Trump is President?

Fuck Trump. This sounds horrific.

This group of winning voters will be voted "Idiots of the Millennium" by the rest of the free voting world for reelecting the asshole responsible for the Capitol riot in Jan. 2020 by calling that election rigged and telling them "It will be wild" after he was shown in a video from Dec. 18, 2019  being told by a group of his top advisors that there was absolutely no indication of any such interference.

Trump is Trump, though. If history is any indication, he'll screw it up.

There's also a significant portion of our society that believes "the man" owes them something, and in some cases, a lot.

I'm interested in the comment upstream about "being more transactional" about things.  What does that mean to Hefe and/ or others?  How does that affect G650's statement?

So...no more taxes.  No more FICA deductions?  Cool.  Enjoy.

I foresee this as more oligarchy moves. Musk threw in with Trump's campaign and I anticipate him to be richly and publicly rewarded for it. That's a signal that trumpco is open for business to trade favor for favor and pick winners and losers based on their "donors" wishes

That is VERY unique to Trump.

So do we see an impact on Musk's business endeavors, with regard to consumer backlash?  Are the Trump parades gonna have Teslas now?

(That premise is hilariously funny to me on multiple fronts, BTW)

That qualifier was not in the post.  Thanks for adding the context.

Is this where I drop the good reading insult?  No.  Let's just have the discussion, shall we?
