climate change is the big one, I’m distraught over what it means for my sons, one was terribly upset yesterday. It’s hard not to be he has no ability to participate and he sees really dumb dude bros high fiving in the hallways over trumps win. This should be the single issue we all vote for but it somehow never is.

Maybe he could move to Russia, Cuba, Mexico or India and help them with their pollution? Keeps him from living horrible life here under Trump and also help ensure our climate future?

This is the hardest part for me. Both of my kids heard outwardly, over the top racist and sexist shit at school yesterday. These little fucks are emboldened now and we had to tell them it’s probably going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

in the end I bet you want to be decent, I bet you want to be a good guy, yet you come here and act like a bully in highschool. Can you not control yourself?

do you go home and tell your wife about how you owned the internet libs at dinner when she asked how was your day?

seriously, your behavior as a grown ass man is petulant, childish, and demeaning to your self not to me.

Sorry. Thought your sad kid would want to be part of the solution. Our climate is going to hell here in the US. He at least could try to change the climate in another country.

I think the US will be fine.  It’s not like Trump has a history of fucking up everything he has ever been put in charge of.  As for me, I’m a rich white dude and my industry will do better under Trump/Republicans with less regulation (I unlike others didn’t vote for him because I would personally gain but I guess now I will just enjoy the extra money I am going to get).  My main decision going forward is do I want to stay in TX.  I just moved to a house on the lake in DFW but if the Republicans keep passing laws that make me and the wife uncomfortable then we will have to move somewhere else in the US.

Our kids are really going to appreciate us leaving them all this extra Trump money when they get to spend it in a lifeless hellscape.

And just like last time, the racists are emboldened when Trump wins. My sister's SIL texted my sister's husband and asked if he was sad that n*gger bitch lost. Totally cool, normal behavior that I'm certain is rampant right now.

Fair enough, I would have figured that part is self explanatory though, if for no other reason I wouldn't ever consider paying taxes as a transaction. Not to mention I get very immediate benefits from it like roads to drive on and schools for my son to attend.

But what we mean is helping out others as an act of kindness, as opposed to what's in it for us. Personally, 2016 shattered every idea I had about what this country was. I never considered America perfect, but the depths of our depravity and malice were never that exposed, and it seemed we were always working towards being better. But that went out the window in '16. Even so, I still clung to a small flicker of hope maybe it was an aberration, and Biden's win in 2020 restored probably 75% of my faith in the US. This, well, the flame is 100% out now. As I told my wife, I actually don't feel any anger or shock at all, I'm pretty serene. The truth is laid bare for all to see now, and I have completely accepted it. So if I know someone is a Trump voter, my interactions with them are going to be 100% transactional. If my Trump neighbor needs sugar, I'm not lending them any unless I get something from it. Which sounds heartless, and it is, because I'm not giving that part of myself anymore to people who don't deserve it.

I feel zero guilt about this. These people have chosen to break our country. The onus is on them to put it back together again.

Thanks.  I don't see it as heartless.  People make choices.  I don't necessarily own the consequences along with them.  It is accountability.

What happens under Trump won’t matter because the poor-reasoning electorate will believe the reality that is fed to them. Elections will continue to become less free and fair, the press will increasingly be under control of the government and its allies, and normal citizens will learn to function in an authoritarian society. We can blame Russia for some of the demise of American democracy, but we can also look to the ordinary Russian people who have managed to survive the Putin era for 25 years with their reason still intact and widespread dissent still existing. Nothing will be done to keep the summers from getting hotter and the winters more mild. I hope I’m wrong in these predictions.

Responding to OP, they're definitely going to begin their plans for mass deportations. Connected business interests will push back, with what success I don't really know. I don't think this is a thing Trump is going to fold on when his rich friends tell him it's bad for business, because ultimately it's something he personally really wants to do and the last people in his ear (the freaks that will staff his administration) really want to do it as well.

The good news is that the entire federal government (excluding the armed forces) doesn't have nearly the personnel to accomplish what they're aiming for. The bad news is they'll just deputize local and state law enforcement, who will be extremely eager to abandon real policework (to the limited extent any of them actually do any) for SS shit. The surveillance and incarceration capabilities that all of this will require will require turning America into something very dystopic (our entire prison population right now is around ~1,200,000), but a lot of us probably won't see most of that shit.  What worries me most is when someone shows Trump the cost of all of this and he has a "it doesn't cost $60,000 to bury a fucking Mexican" moment and begins ordering for everyone who gets rounded up to simply be shot. The biggest restraint on that is he won't want people seeing that shit on TV, but he may figure that Elon's control of Twitter will be enough to effectively hide it from the public.

A side effect of all of this is that crime will increase as police spend 100% of their time on deporting immigrants.

He may be dissuaded from instituting the worst of his proposed tariffs, but that's another thing he really wants to do so again I doubt it. We'll see inflation jump and an even steeper rise in housing costs as new construction is undermined by the elimination of its labor force.

As for health and the environment, well we all gotta die sometime right? Food, medicine, and drinking water regulations will be effectively eliminated, when not expressly then by refusal to enforce them.  They'll repeal the IRA to halt the green energy revolution and pretend they're coming up with a better alternative, but that alternative will just be giving all of that money to Elon to do whatever he wants with it. I'm less sure they'll repeal the ACA, even though I think they'll have the votes if they decide they want to do so (this assumes the Dems narrow path to still take the House doesn't come to fruition).  That was a big promise last time, but I don't think Trump really cares about it personally and there's not a ton of money to be given out there to his billionaire supporters like there is with an alternative to the IRA.

Obviously there will be a whole lot more awful shit that we can't really predict right now.

This is a nice summation of how I feel.  My give a fuck has been broken, probably permanently.  I will particularly enjoy the absolute shock and outrage that will happen when the deportations start, when Israel levels the West Bank, etc.  He told you what was going to happen, I'm sorry you were too stupid to understand he wasn't joking.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but this is just nonsense dooming. You can't project what will happen or that elections will become less free and fair etc. Those are things you can be on high alert for but just saying it like it's gonna happen is not productive and it's really a figment of your imagination at this point.

@G650 is putting it all out there the way I see immediate changes and immediate action. Everything will very quickly become dog eat dog. Accountability will go to zero and people who "do whatever it takes" will be rewarded vs those who are trying to do things the right way.

American innovation is on its death bed and this could be the beginning of the death rattle. A society so consumed by more more more me me me that it eats itself and dies.

The way you go about it is up to you, but everyone is about to see the character of their neighbors, friends, family, and co workers on full display in short order. Many people are too weak to have a high moral standard and continue doing things rhe right way. The vast majority of Americans have already sold their soul, now it's just up to the rest to see how long they can go before giving up.

In corporate America there has been vast swaths of what I like to call "potatofication" since covid and everyone went back to work. It starts with one or two people who you can't fucking believe do nothing at all and get away with still having a paycheck and sometimes even getting promotions. Then it turns into 4-5 people and corporate profits are still good because whatever so no one is doing Jack shit or they are doing it at the bare minimum required. Then the apathy for the product creeps in, no one even gives a shit what the company does anymore they are just there to do their job and check out.

Then it turns into entire departments of 10s-100s of people who just check the fuck out and add little to no value and all the work that is produced is actual garbage tier not even passable for anything. Then customer relationships erode to entirely transactional requirements specifications and price conversations because working together isn't required by anyone and does no good for the corporate overlords. Its no ones job to care about the product anymore.

Its infectious and its rotten to the core. Then the final piece is cuts, deep ridiculous cuts removing anyone but the favorites who have submitted to potatofication. You are rewarded by keeping your job which you do nothing in and the people actually trying to get shit done are deemed problems and must go.

The line must go up and to the right. As long as this happens you get to stay.

The problem is the line can't always go up and to the right. When it doesn't there's going to be no consequences theres just going to be a good old fashioned shutdown/wind up and a final payout for the corporate vampires at the top.

Good question.  For me it’s less general charitable giving, because fuck everyone else.  It is going to be a lot less mentoring to staff because it’s not my problem anymore.  Finally, I’m going to approach my retirement with a burn all bridges as necessary approach.  I have tried to be a good steward of value but I don’t see the fucking point anymore and will just pull the pin when I feel like it and leave them hanging.  That’s what I mean by transactional.

Well, Andrew Tate's coming back to America.

https://www.irishstar.com/news/us-news/andrew-tate-announces-trump-move-34055079

Quote

Andrew Tate has thrown down the gauntlet. The internet has not had a moment to breathe since Donald Trump was announced President of the United States— again.

The "self-proclaimed misogynist" could not hide his giddiness when he took to X and wrote: “I’m moving back to America.”

Tate has dual citizenship in both the United Kingdom and the United States. He was born in the United Kingdom but raised in the United States before returning to England with his mother.

It’s easy to assume his sudden interest in relocating has everything to do with Trump, as he followed up his previous tweet with: “THE BULLETPROOF OUTLAW IS IN CHARGE.”

Elections are already less free and fair. Stuffing the ballot box is last century. There are many ways to subtly influence an election result that add up to make a significant difference. Chief amongst these is the control or lack of control of information.

There are multiple posts in the election and or poll volunteers thread about access being better than what the narrative alleges.

That doesn't mean it is remotely perfect, but folks even ready to bitch about it were saying they were pleasantly surprised about early voting hours or other access issues.

Does anyone on here know someone who was kept from making a reasonable effort to vote?

You think secular nonprofits aren't also a social or country club payment?

Churches and faith-based organizations do most of the heavy lifting in nonprofit spaces for the poor and downtrodden.  Not just with money.  But with volunteering.

My family has a large charitable foundation as my grandparents decided to leave the overwhelming bulk of their estate to charity.  I review grant requests all the time.  You have no idea what good work faith based NPs do in this country.  Without them, the poor would be really screwed.

I reject the premise that secular nonprofits are more efficient with dollars than religious based nonprofits.

I think you try to live your values of accountability and moral character as much as you can but keep a watchful eye on your counter parties, if they are devoid of accountability and moral character then you guard yourself and engage "buyer beware". you try to do business with those that are accountable and you do not forsake your values, because in times like these, it's all we have. basically more self-segregation.

if you want accolades or a trophy for managing your grandparents chartible foundation (especially while being a dick on line) you're going to have to ask someone else for that.

I've been a member of a large traditional church with lots of wealth, I've been a member of a contemporary mega church and all in between. i didn't say who was more efficient but I guarantee you it isn't the large traditional churches and the contemporary megachurches. and my donations don't come with much benefit so I don't really know what you're talking about.

Leftists should put their money where their mouth is and give more of their time and money to helping the less fortunate.  Voting to give away other people's money through an inefficient government bureaucracy is no virtue.

I get no virtue from what my grandparents did with their money.  I am proud of them.  But it is their giving.  Not mine.  I do help manage it (as do other family members) on a volunteer basis.

I had a Trumper tell me yesterday that all illegal immigrants are criminals because they broke the law by coming here.  That was her rationalization for deporting all of them.

As someone said up thread, I'll personally benefit from tax breaks and business reforms that should come our of this.  I work for a bank and know this will affect me monetarily (in a positive way) before the end of the year because our dividend is now going to go up for sure.

I'm going to keep my head down and my mouth shut while encouraging my daughters to move out of Texas.  And maybe find a significant other from New Zealand so we can all emigrate.

Any second spent trying to improve life for anyone else is a wasted second.  GET YOURS.  AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERYONE ELSE.  Rising sea levels?  Buy land where the coast reaches 30 feet of elevation.  Worried about energy shortages?  Use some of the piles of money we'll make to power our houses without depending on a grid.  Fuck everyone else.  That's the chosen ethos.  Don't fight it.  Embrace it.

Leftists should put their money where their mouth is and give more of their time and money to helping the less fortunate.  Voting to give away other people's money through an inefficient government bureaucracy is no virtue.

I get no virtue from what my grandparents did with their money.  I am proud of them.  But it is their giving.  Not mine.  I do help manage it (as do other family members) on a volunteer basis.

you really can't help but be a raging asshole can you?  you know NOTHING about my charitable endeavors or those of anyone on this board but want to toss around your efforts as better than.  you really are something.

in the end I bet you want to be decent, I bet you want to be a good guy, yet you come here and act like a bully in highschool. Can you not control yourself?

No, they can't.  This is who they are, and more importantly, it is who "we the people" are, in bulk.

Bullying, selfishness....THOSE are American values.  How do we know?  Because when they win, those are the values they display like peacocks.  Stop pretending these trolls are exceptions.  They're not.  They are our American id.

Yep.  Don't waste any of your "give a shit" on anyone else.  We are who we are.  We are the people who happily text about being glad "the nigger bitch lost."  We are the kids who showed up at school on Wednesday dropping racist and sexists bombs left and right.  Our true colors are on display for all to see.  Stop trying to pretend they're otherwise.

And stop caring what happens to them.

They need to be corrected.

Why would society correct against the values it holds most dear?  The hatred and cruelty?  Features, not bugs.  Stopping those dirty niggers, all those spics who are all criminals and not real Americans, and shutting up those mouthy cunt bitches who dared speak out?  Those are AMERICAN VALUES.  Let them celebrate them.

Make your money, protect your family, and watch everything else burn as they celebrate it.  If you want to laugh at them when the flames consume some of them as well, I won't stop you.

Naw, don't be like that. Everyone needs to look out for them and theirs, but the only way out of this is through and nothing discourages the right more than liberals living better lives and being better people than them.

Look out for others, help those who need it, defend those who can't defend themselves. Carry the fire.

Counterpoint: fuck 'em.

This world is made to consume the weak, and those who can't defend themselves.  There's nothing more American than bellying up to the table and gorging on the buffet of the weak/other.

And I am nothing if not a great American patriot.
