@xx_feetlover69_xx He got into it with Chris Jackson and Sark had to step in. Said maybe he should go somewhere where they will throw him the ball. He was already gonna transfer to Oregon.

Pretty sure it went something like this. Cook: "I'm leaving after the season." Sark replied, " Really, Hold my beer Waterloo."

Fuck that. For a young player who doesn't hustle like he needs to, isn't a commanding blocker, and drops balls, there is something wrong with wanting assurances regarding PT. Now, a good team will give him that to get him in the door, but they'll most certainly be on his ass about those things above.

Would he have to sit a year to go to sec team. Since he’s leaving in December will he be eligible for sec team?

No, as long as he enters before deadline of next portal window which opens Dec 2024

Thinking more like

"Coach, if I can't get more PT, I'm gonna hafta get in the portal."

"Well... bye."

This is where my mind immediately went. If my Average YPC was 17.1 and my QB was incapable of passing beyond 10-15 yds....I am pretty sure 18 yr old me would be raising hell too. Hopefully that's not the case, but if it is, it's an indicator that the team may not be as aligned with the Coach as they need to be. At the end of the day, culture is important...but so is accountability, and I'd likely be calling BS on the culture if the culture simply said "let's all keep acting like there's a deep threat...."

This is a great point, outside of the fact that he isnt the best deep threat on the team.

You know... he dropped a TD that was a deep bomb... which got him benched...

Maybe.  I think he's a kid that thought he was going to be a star player at Texas and it just happens that we have had arguably a top 2 WR room in the country 2 years in a row where there are guys that just happen to have elite traits that he doesn't have.  He wasn't better than Worthy, Mitchell, Whittington last year.  He got passed up by Moore, Bond, Houston, Wingo this year.  All those guys are NFL players and many of those are 1st-2nd round guys.  Cook is talented and he's probably going to succeed at his next stop... but he lost his spot and wasn't getting it back.  Now him potentially acting out like a bitch mid season in a year where we have playoff aspirations speaks more about his character and selfishness rather than his actual football talent.  If history has shown us anything, Sark is probably going to bring in 1-2 NFL ready talents from the portal again this year to plug into his system.  With Arch taking the reigns, there will no shortage of guys wanting to catch passes from him.

He could have busted his butt and transferred after the season like Malik Murphy, a kid that the entire fanbase and teammates still root for.  But we all knew the diva Cook was during his recruitment so this is not surprising.

If the fight with coach is true he had to go. But if he was smart , he would have just worked his ass off and got better. He’d be in a great spot next year to get snaps with his experience. I think he could have been a good one. Thems the breaks

Sark's system churns out quality WRs.

Your initial thought should never be "why wasn't Cook utilized more" but rather "why wasn't Cook good enough to be in the rotation?" This is a position where if you're a good enough player you will absolutely produce under Sark.

Imagine how stupid it is to quit on a top 5 team. Lmao.

So he is not quite 20 years old and has been told better part of his playing days what a bad ass receiver he is.  No surprise that he would make that decision.

I don’t think the coaching staff has been telling him that this year. Probably more along the lines of “get your fucking shit together or make sure the water bottles are full.”

Yeah that dropped wide open TD against MSST got him benched, and frustration set in most likely. WR is probably our most deep and skilled position on the team, so drops like that can force a player to work their way back up to getting playing time. I wish him well on his next team as long as we don’t play them next season.
Something tells me he lands in the SEC even if it's not a team we have scheduled. Not sure how many of Joey Freshwaters mercenaries sign up for another year, but could definitely see Cook go to Colonel Reb.

I badly want Bolden to have some big moments the rest of this year. That guy blocks hard for his size and gives maximum effort when he's on the field, even though he's probably had a lesser role than he expected.
I've literally never seen him take a play off since he put on the burnt orange. Even if he's a one year rental he will be fondly remembered by me when he's gone, that type of player is rare these days

That's a big chunk of SMU's roster (Wheaton, Harmon, Abor, Byrd just off the top of my head).

Just looked up Wheaton and he's doing pretty well.

Here's what I don't understand - How tf can you not put in the effort to fucking block for your teammates? If you do that, you get more PT. It's really just that simple. Also, stay late and work on your hands with the Juggs machine. A little extra can go a long way

Good riddance. He’s lazy and an unreliable pass catcher. Give me Bolden and Moore all day over Cook.

Do you have some sort of inside the program insight or just talking out of your ass? While he has dropped a few passes in games we haven’t seen enough of him on the field to indicate whether he’s improved his hands or not.

Don't they have to sit out a year? I can see him RS for a season, but if he has trouble catching the ball, will Kiffen even bother? I can see him go to a school like SMU, but that's just my opinion.

Not if they transfer during the first portal window, or at least that's my understanding.

Let me try again.  I’m talking about before he came to UT.  He’s a kid full of himself based on hearing how great he is BEFORE coming to UT.  So of course he still thinks he’s great, Sark and UT don’t know shit, and he will take his talents elsewhere.

Dropping passes and not giving full effort on run blocking for a receiver that is maybe 5th in the rotation makes the coaches jobs very easy.

Maybe we should wait for better sources than FCB and the venerable feetlover69

Technically speaking... Since this is theoretically out in public, isn't this tampering?

I know he's not on the team anymore, but he's still on scholarship with the University of Texas, he still counts as a roster spot, and he can't enter the transfer portal until the window opens. Obviously teams are going to reach out... But they can't do so publicly/officially until he enters the portal, no?
