Johntay posted again today. Here he shows himself getting training. Looks like he is working out w/ HS kids. I think it's his way of saying 'I'm back to grinding' and which is a good message. No idea if anyone will touch him at this point but I'm rooting for him.

You’d be think a Sam Houston State type program would take a flyer on him with the stipulations that there’s no NIL and he’s gone after even a minor fuck up. But not participating in spring ball is a bad sign.

When he was kicked off the University of Washington team last Dec, it was then too late to enroll for the Spring semester.

Perhaps schools will wait 'til he clears his record. I agree that a D2 program has nothing to lose by offering him a role next Fall.

It will be interesting if he can repair his reputation.

Boy, he sure f'd around and found out.

He's a young man obviously dealing with some mental health/drug issues. He doesn't seem particularly spiteful or violent or abusive. He didn't fuck Texas over. Would be nice for him if he could play a little ball and get a decent education somewhere.

For those in the know, was his screw ups similar/better/worse than Randy Moss as an 18 year old?

Expand

Funny, it seems pretty parallel. I didn't realize until now that Randy Moss was originally committed to Notre Dame, then lost his scholarship, then transferred to Florida State, kicked out for pot, then ended up at Marshall.

Not sure Cook has the talent level to overcome his obstacles, but it will be interesting to watch.

Another thought is perhaps Johntay Cook benefited from being on an incredible HS team that hid his playing limitations, like Tate Martell.

Everyone loves a redemption story. I don't think Cook is ready to do that, tho.

Typically, I do too, but unless and until he gives a sincere, full apology for his conduct toward the University of Texas football program, he can fuck right off.

Imma send him a note about playing for Colorado School of Mines, and that maybe I can get him some NIL money from my weed store, or at least gift him my reward points.

I wonder what type of engineering he'd like to major in?

I should emphasize - I don't see his redemption arc beginning any time soon. He's still mid-fall-from-grace.

Moss hit a cop with his car at FSU before he enrolled didn’t he? I didn’t think he was on any team until he got ready to take Chad Pennington to the NFL.

There was a “rumor” of locker room theft, if I remember right (long time ago), while at FSU. Then off to Marshall where he and Pennington beat my McNeese Cowboys in the FCS semifinals.

The QB they beat that day is now on the UT staff as a QB Coach, Kerry Joseph.

The theft rings a bell, not sure if it was locker room or otherwise but I do recall some sort of petty theft accusations like shop lifting or similar.

Edit- Mario Edwards stole a phone, Moss was possession charges per this article.

To be fair, he's definitely on track to becoming a custodial engineer.

The word engineer is abused. Custodial engineer? Sanitation engineer? Where does it end?

There are electrical engineer, structural engineers, mechanical, aerospace, civil, soils, etc. You know? Like people studied 4 years or so at a college or university for these degrees. Some HS drop out mopping puke off in a locker room floor is not an engineer.

As someone who's tired and out of shape, I thank you for the complement.

"Compliment" (with an "i") means an expression of praise or admiration.

"Complement" (with an "e") means to complete or enhance something else, or to work well together.

Sorry.

Okay, couple new Stories posts from _jaythegreat_:

First, he's repping one of his friends, Ja'Kobi Lane, a WR at USC, with a video of the guy making a nice catch in practice. That's a solid post.

image.thumb.png.54381e365631e52ac8db5a9205bb815d.png

In the next one, he's repping former Longhorn and current Seahawk, Byron Murphy, who seems to be promoting some swag from a brand called Amiri. Maybe they hung out during Johntay's brief stay in Seattle.

I think these are good posts. To me, the message of promoting other people's success, says "I'm going to be a good teammate." Of course, he could be paid for cross-promoting Amiri. Dude still have 84K followers.

This is a joke within a joke.  You must be a comedy engineer.
