Not sure this will be enough to convince a major program that his troubles are behind him, but we shall see.

I imagine he will have multiple choices as long as he sticks to showing stuff like this and training. I thought he looked pretty good when he played. He was probably way too immature to handle such a stacked wr room. Dude would have easily seen multiple balls a game this upcoming season if he could have curbed the ego and thought 7 months into the future. Kids do dumb shit.

Wow. And to think that I HIRED South Austin when he was just a snotty-nosed kid with a fucking police record.

Subject: Performance Review Notification and Adjustment to Reporting Structure

Dear TreatyOak,

Following a recent review of your current performance and overall contributions, I regret to inform you that concerns have been raised regarding your ability to consistently meet role expectations and operational standards. These concerns have been brought forward by your new direct supervisor, @South Austin, who has expressed a high level of dissatisfaction with your recent output and accountability.

In response, and in alignment with our commitment to supporting employee development, you are being formally placed on a 90-day performance review period, effective immediately. The purpose of this period is to provide clear structure, regular oversight, and the opportunity for course correction.

During this time, the following changes to your responsibilities and communication protocols will be implemented:

  • You will report directly to Mr. South Austin and provide him with daily written updates outlining all work completed, work in progress, and next steps.

  • You are expected to prioritize cleaning and maintaining the company CyberTruck into your daily task list. This duty is non-negotiable and must be executed with attention to detail and consistency.

  • Any requests or assignments issued by Mr. Austin must be immediately added to your schedule and prioritized accordingly.

We expect to see marked improvement in productivity, communication, and ownership of responsibilities throughout this review period. Progress will be evaluated on a rolling basis, and failure to meet expectations may result in further disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email and confirm your understanding of the expectations outlined above.

Sincerely,

@'stache

Johntay is posting pretty regularly again. He’s cleaned up his act and sticks to shout-outs, grinding videos (like this one) and a couple of fashion-focused ones. I think his recent misadventures have made him realize his path to riches is more fragile than he previously would have imagined it was. That’s a good thing. image.thumb.png.1e039327c1506221009f568309bb5322.png

Yeah, I'd like to see this story turn out well... I think a lot of us feel this way.

I don't suppose Sark would consider a second third chance? But it might be worth a look - let him in Summer School, work out with teammates, see if it's a real change. Would be a hell of a thing if it worked out.

He doesn't the level of talent, and we aren't desperate enough at WR, to justify bringing him back on the team.

He doesn't what the level?

Sumbitch seemed (seems?) plenty fast and able to get open. If the drops were basically just lack of concentration, and his attitude and effort are up to snuff, I wouldn't mind giving him June and July to show out and give Arch  another reliable target.

But, meh, you're prolly right...

He’s a really good receiver, but he wouldn’t get on the field over here soon enough to stay focused. He needs to go somewhere smaller where he gets plenty of PT while finding his edge as a player, then if he becomes a big time contributor, he can transfer back up.

He was given those chances already, he's a locker room cancer. Why would you even entertain the thought of having him back?

I hope he becomes a success, and he is seeming to get himself focused on what he needs to do to succeed. We shall see how it turns out. He certainly has erected some tall hurdles to overcome.

I would not like to see him back at the University of Texas, but it would be a really great story, for sure!

America loves you on the way up. We love to tear you down. And then we love a great redemption story.

This is the point, of course.

Errybody seriously doubts it happens... but it would help take some of the ridiculous levels of attention pressure raining down on Arch's head.

His mental training should be to challenge himself to shut the fuck up anytime he feels the urge to speak. If he senses a thought coming on he should ignore it. He needs to practice the discipline of abandoning every instinct he might have for the next two years. He should maybe consider filing a restraining order against himself. Long road ahead. The grind.

Lulz, you can tell that by some insta photos? My guess is that Cook is the same fucking idiot who got booted from two college teams and went to jail twice in February alone. If he can stay out of jail for the next couple of years, it may be evidence he isnt a fuckup.  I wouldn't take that bet.

I love comeback/redemption stories.  Would love to see him succeed at another program.  He's young and did dumb stuff.  I'd like to see him do less dumb stuff and become a productive member of society.

I should have clarified that he has cleaned up his act on Instagram. He's stopped with the stupid, self-defeating, celeb-styled partying, braggadocio crap, as least for now, and is projecting an image that he is working hard to prove he deserves a second chance.

Sark places a bigger emphasis on character than most coaches.  It seems to be working.  The guy got his chance here and elsewhere, left Texas and got booted off UDub.  I really see no path forward where Sark would want to entertain that level of fuckery again.  He's not the only fish in the barrel (or whatever, water under the dam, you get it).

Does he need a college?  Could the UFL be his ticket back to football and a paycheck plus audition for the nfl in both talent and maturity?

He needs to find a way to play football in an environment where there aren't any other people. Coaching staffs and teammates and the most minimal requirements don't suit him. Solo interpretive dance might be his best path to displaying his ability.

That's exactly what KaVontae Turpin did.  He had an electric career at TCU (not huge stats, but he was a threat every time he touched the ball), was abruptly kicked off the team with no further contact when he beat up his girlfriend (not allegedly--he pleaded guilty), and then went through four years of the long slow grind of the indoor Fan-Controlled Football League, the Spring League, the European League of Football and finally the USFL, where he was MVP.

Then Jerrah gave him a chance in 2022.

In March, he signed a 3-year, $13.5 million extension.

Well, Johntay's post today is calculated to prove he's grinding, but stupid, inspiring quotes should only ever be seen on LinkedIn and the Successories online store.

And lol at the posters who come to this thread to post that they don't care about Johntay Cook.

Bond just got arrested too.  wtf

https://www.si.com/college/texas/football/texas-longhorns-isaiah-bond-turns-himself-in-police-arrest-warrant

Quote

AUSTIN -- Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond is making headlines for some concerning reasons as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches.

Per reports from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bond turned himself over to Frisco (Dallas-Fort Worth) police on Thursday morning due to an outstanding warrant for sexual assault. Rapoport reported that Bond posted bond and was released.

Bond played his first two seasons at Alabama before transferring to Texas last offseason. It's unclear if this incident took place during his time in Tuscaloosa or this past season in Austin.

"Former Texas WR and current NFL Draft prospect Isaiah Bond turned himself in to Frisco (TX) Police this morning for a matter related to an outstanding warrant for sexual assault, Frisco PD told The Insiders," Rapoport wrote on X. "He posted bond and was subsequently released."

Bond released a statement shortly after the news broke, per Rapoport:

“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false," Bond said in a statement. "I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation.  Unfortunately, claims like these prove to be harmful to all involved, absent full review.  I kindly request that all reserve judgement until the authorities provide a complete report based on truth and evidence.”

Expected to be a potential second-round pick, Bond could now see his draft stock take a hit with this year's event set to begin in Green Bay on Thursday, April 24.

Bond didn't have the season many expected due to the lingering ankle injury. He was limited down the stretch, having just one catch for 22 yards in the SEC Championship before sitting out the first round of the College Football Playoff against Clemson. He returned for the Peach Bowl against Arizona State but didn't catch a pass.

Then in the loss to Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl, Bond had just one catch for eight yards. He finished the year with 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdowns along with four carries for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Today's post. The posting strategy is more successful. Still, these are all Insta stories, so they won't be readily visible when a school checks out his social media.

On another level, expending aimless amounts of energy by himself may be symbolic of his life right now.

I find Johntay's story very relatable. He is a reminder that for so many men, we are often our own biggest obstacle to achieving our goals.

Finally accepting that you are responsible for your own failings is a sign of acquiring the maturity to make the required changes in yourself.

I keep seeing this thread pop up.

“What is this drug addled, malcontented criminal doing now?”

clicks thread …

”Oh, it’s just @TreatyOak stanning for this selfish loser and other idiotic shit around that. “

This guy took close to a million dollars from boosters at Texas, flushed it down the toilet, became a cancer in the locker room and then talked as much shit about Texas as he could on his way out the door, including attempting to poison the well with recruits and transfers he knew.

Fuck him. I am enjoying the premise that he remains unsigned with a new school. Someone will eventually bring him in, thinking they can fix him, and he’ll blow them up from the inside as well.

Redemption story? Right. GTFO.

Honestly, I am surprised more of these guys don't act like selfish idiotic lunatics in similar circumstances.  At 18, he just had $1mm dropped in his lap.  He's never seen cash like that, and it reinforces his belief that he's God's gift to football.  His work ethic slides, and his production slides.  He gets less playing time because he's inferior and now unreliable.  He freaks out, and blames everyone except himself.

3 months ago, Cook was on a path to being a career criminal with zero self-awareness or respect for others.  That path has taken a turn and it looks like he's on a positive path.  Great!   He now appears to be on a path to being a productive member of society - or at least off the criminal malcontent path.  Perhaps sitting in a FW jail helped.

Yes, he lit $1mm of booster money on fire; that's part of the risk of funding NIL, and I suspect it stings.  He has zero chance of returning to Texas and lighting another pile of Texas booster money on fire.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

In similar selfish-jackwagon news, Nico Iamaleava wants to renegotiate his NIL deal - just 5 days before the spring portal opens.  I see Nico landing in Oregon or at tOSU.

Will Rogers on trickle-down economics:

"The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover didn’t know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night, anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow’s hands."

Looks like it's passing through Jontay's hands pretty damn quick.
