Tracking Trump Promises

Recommended Posts

I love being told I’m dumb by a group that includes broke ass baristas with worthless degrees and a quarter million in school loans. Or people whose best and brightest think you need a biology degree to answer a simple question like “What is a woman?”

But here’s a newsflash — you cannot win an election without a whole bunch of stupid people voting for you.

1) Gut the government while improving what is left. Move agencies out of Washington and find competent heads to man and restore faith in institutions. Break the neck of the elite, intelligence and bureaucratic groups rotting in the government. Shrink the size and scope of the Federal Government, especially Exec branch agencies

2) Comprehensive and permanent immigration reform. Executive orders help and will stop border crossings immediately, but we need permanent safeguards against what Biden Harris did to us.  Have a robust guest worker program.  Pathway to citizenship for hardworking contributors.  Recruit other high achievers from around the world. Deport violent criminals.

3) Secure permanent onshoring of manufacturing -- or at least bring to Latin America -- especially for critical infrastructure like tech and medicine. Lead the charge to wean is off the addiction to constant purchasing of cheap shit to a culture that will pay more once for a more quality product the way we did from post war through preNAFTA.

4) lay down the foundation for a generational dynasty of a new Republican party. Make good on promises to all the various nontraditional republican voters and try to retain them after Trump is finished. There's an incredibly bright future with a deep bench in the republican party, but it won't matter if they squander the gains they just made. I think it's imperative they secure democrats a seat at the table, even if it means some compromises. Getting bipartisan consensus on what I believe will be an incredibly successful agenda would solidify the party for a generation.

5) Repair Federal Law Enforcement . . . Remove biased DOJ and FBI administrators and prosecute any DOJ and FBI officials who have acted illegally.

6) End all DEI in federal government.  Have the EEOC issue guidance that corporate DEI programs that promote one race over another are per se violations of Title VII and will result in enforcement actions

7) Get rid of all mission creep in our military and the CDC.  Return to core missions, and not the social justice wet dream of the week

8. If constitutional, a national ID and comprehensive requirement for voter ID (have not studied constitutionality

9) Eliminate the department of education

10) Investigate and if appropriate charge under RICO, with mail and wire fraud being the predicates, if evidence is there for a criminal conspiracy with the perpetrators of lawfare.  Willis.  Smith. Bragg. Leticia James.  Anyone at DOJ that violated the law.

11) Replace Alito and Thomas on the SCOTUS and hopefully get 1 or 2 more like Roberts or Sotamayor

12) Remove gender identity from Title IX

13) Finish the wall

14) Strengthen SS and Medicare.  Compromise between raising SS cap and moving retirement age back a couple years since people are living longer.

15) Tell Ukraine we will sell you weapons, but the free ride is over.  EU countries have plenty of money and they can pay.

16) Extend tax cuts

1.) This is kind of vague. Fair to say you'd expect restoration of the Schedule F piece and a purging of the federal workforce? Or is this more just a general deregulation bit? What degree of size/scope reduction are we talking? Do we see the really nutty shit like RFK in charge of HHS or Elon Musk with some new department? What proportion of agencies should we expect moved out of DC? Who are the elites and what is breaking their necks?

2.) Illegal border crossings are already relatively low - below 2019 figures, actually. Are you saying you expect exec action to reduce them further? If so, how? Is family separation back on the table? Do they pass the bill from earlier this year? I'd love to see a guest worker program + path to citizenship. I'm surprised you think we should expect this. I'll give you your due if it's correct but I think you and I will be disappointed here. Deporting violent criminals - so is it fair to say you think the mass deportation rhetoric is bluster? Should we expect an increase in removals? If so, how much? Prior Trump admin levels? Obama levels? Beyond that? You think we should expect it to be focused on violent offenders?

3.) It's well documented that there's a huge, ongoing boom in manufacturing construction. Are you just planning to spike to football when those jobs materialize or should we expect the Trump admin to do something here? If so, what?

4.) On its face this is something anyone would expect from their party with a trifecta so I get it. Stripping out value judgments on policy entirely, the House has been a dysfunctional mess the past two years and this election looks to be a stalemate in that chamber. Expecting clean and effective governance out of the slim majority seems like too much to ask given their track record but I'll keep this in mind. From the executive, "keeping promises" can mean a lot because Trump promises everything to everyone. He has promised to broadly lower prices, for example. Should we expect deflation? What promises should we be judging on here - that's really the root of my entire line of questioning, right?

5.) Again, pretty vague. Trump's FBI director is still in place. Seems like a solution in search of a problem so I don't really know how to evaluate it. We just talking filling federal law enforcement with more GOP-friendly personnel?

7.) Define mission creep and what ending it would look like?

9.) Department of Ed was created by Congress so Trump can't do this himself. Will need to get Congress to go along. I don't know that I expect them to do so. Interesting that you say we should expect that. If they do, what becomes of federal education funding? Just goes away? Administered through another agency? What about programs like Pell grants or PSLF that were created by Congress? Those just go away entirely or are administered elsewhere?

13.) Define this. Are we talking an actual wall from San Diego to Brownsville? Portions that have been authorized or started to date?

14.) Define what you mean by strengthen? The campaign oscillated between gutting and not touching them depending on the day. Similar to the guest worker bit, GOP's not going to raise the SS cap but okay I'll keep an eye out.

16.) Broad extension of the TCJA? Permanent or extending out to 2029 or something? Any additional tax cuts?

What is your expectation with regard to tariffs? Will they add enough to be inflationary or is that a boogeyman? What about the Israel-Gaza conflict? Will there be any notable difference between Trump and Biden with regard to that? What if Israel makes a larger offensive push into Lebanon?

My favorite is how Biden 4 years ago announces to everyone he is choosing a Black female VP. Narrows it down to 4 (Harris, Bottoms, Deming and some other). Obviously one of these will be the next President candidate. When their Election Day finally comes, they lose and blame the loss on color, misogyny, etc….

They make their own bed and then blame society they want to govern for the loss.

Border crossings from Mexico were halted during COVID.

Border encounters rose during most of the final years of Trumps final year in office. Those are the crossings they knew about. There's no telling how many people entered the country without the Border Patrol or law enforcement ever knowing.

With all due respect, tracking Trump’s Truth index is inherently flawed because he is accountable to nothing. Not truth, humanity, or good. Whatever he said before was fine if he got what he wanted from it, and his supporters demanded nothing more.

It is a psychopathy supported by the majority in this reality.

This is what you were talking about bring back multigenerational home, essentially. Old folks homes are known for there abuse.

My father is already dependent on my sister and I. He voted for the democrat platform and Kamala due to needing social security / VA Benefits/ Medicare. Life long republican and he finally saw the writing on the wall. He told me last week that is now truely is going to be dependent on us.

My grandparents are getting too old to drive and rely on my aunt who had a heart transplant. It's really sad to see it all from Oregon.

I'll pray for your family. Ecclesiastes 4:2-3 indeed.

If it makes you feel better, add that in 2016 Trump poked at Obama because he played to much golf when there was important business to attend to.

There's is nothing to be gained by tracking his lies, except helping someone feel better about their vote.

But then this is the cloak room, hat check your sanity when you enter.

For now, yes. His Social Security covers almost everything. If that goes, it falls to my sister and I. He’s 93 and did not expect to live this long, so he out lived his plan. Sis and are just outside Surly Rich, so we can handle it as long as he has Social Security. That goes away and some changes will have to happen (he moves in with one of us).

Ok, we might be getting somewhere now…..

If you know the society you want to govern won’t vote for a black woman, maybe try someone that will get the votes?

Here is where we disconnect. If racism and misogyny are such a problem in society, I don’t think we should just accept that and acquiesce to that behavior. I think we should work to change it. Because I believe in equality and not being a piece of shit.

Fine. Keep losing elections and not connecting with your constituents.

No, it means taking into consideration about 30% of the populations background.

In late April, more than 200 black women who are leaders and activists within the Democratic party signed an open letter to the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden calling on him to select a black woman as his running mate.

"It is a fact that the road to the White House is powered by Black women and Black women are the key to a Democratic victory in 2020," they wrote.

I believe we call these “alternate facts”.

I do not agree with it. And 200 of anything should not have that power. But then, that is a major issue with our system.

Then is it appears it is the Democrats that are making the election about color and gender.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden committed Sunday to picking a woman for his vice president if he were to win the party’s nomination.

Speaking during a CNN-hosted primary debate with fellow candidate Bernie Sanders, Biden said: “There are a number of women who would be qualified to be president,” and that he would choose a woman as his running mate.

Biden also said that he would try to make his Cabinet reflect the demographics of the country and would choose a black woman to serve on the Supreme Court if a vacancy were to open during his presidency.

Biden had long sent signals that he would choose a woman to be his running mate as the Democratic field narrowed to the former vice president and Sanders (Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is also still in the race). Biden did not give further hints as to whom he might pick.

Candidate yes, and I do not agree. But I do think reflecting demographics is not a bad thing. Sorry for the derail, happy to move this discussion to a better thread so we can track trump's promises. BTW, when is day one for all of those?

Education should be pushed to the lowest levels. Let the communities be the primary decision makes of how to educate.

There's a decent argument for local control, within a certain framework.

But small, stupid communities full of uneducated people should not be making curriculum decisions.

Define uneducated? People who can weld, plumb and grow corn?

People who think people of a different color are 2nd class; people who believe the Bible is a scientific resource guide; people who don't give a fuck about pollution or climate; then again there is no means test for being able to vote.

They can have a voice, particularly as parents.  But if they lack formal education they cannot be dictating aspects of formal education they don't comprehend.

Education has a societal component that is broader than the community it "serves"

Hell, even the parental interests of highly educated locals don't serve the broader interests underlying education.

If you have complete local control of education, you'll have localities with entirely vocational graduates and those with higher educational aspirations will be left behind and in highly educated localities, vocational type students will be left behind.   It's untenable.
