When you go to their home, is Fox News the default channel?

if so, that’s a nope.

Lifelong Dems, and my sister is already going to step up in my family. I’m musing about the general populace.

There is nothing wrong with multigenerational living situations. It's the norm in much of the world, and the norm in many demographics in the united states. Of course, it should not be a matter of an unintended outcome of policy, but policy that supports such situations when they are voluntary should absolutely be promoted.

Who said there’s something wrong with it? My siblings and I been preparing to do it once health issues for both make it necessary. We might only be experiencing an acceleration of this by a couple years

A lot of folks are not going to be happy being forced into it, and have no clue it might be coming.

I'll tell you what has been completely laid bare as a sure fire winner for the Democratic party.  Smug condescension.  You all can't help yourself, its truly breath taking.

How many of us are prepared to take in a family member whose only income is SS or disability?

Only kid here, with a disabled mom (though she can mostly still take care of herself), plenty of student loan debt and a mortgage I gotta pay. Kamala's proposal to have medicare cover home health care would've been a fucking godsend. Honestly, no fucking clue what I'm going to do now when my mom can no longer take care of herself.

Post this over in the Truce thread.

It an interesting topic.  End of life care.

Or don't, just a suggestion.

We probably agree that public policy, starting with the tax code, should support such situations.

If they voted for trump? Streets aren’t that bad, besides with climate change it won’t even get that cold in most parts. I’m here for the pain, no fucks left to give and I love saying I told you so. All the bad things that happen to convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, bankrupt businessman pedo traitor dotard supporters will get a laughing emoji or LOL post from me from now until forever. Bring on the pain you voted for.

One request though, hopefully we can keep the posts to verified links. The DOE autism parents one seems more plausible than the union worker one. Just saying…

Well except it'll be illegal to be homeless.

And that ain’t my problem when they get the care and social support they voted for. If anything that adds to my delicious tasting told you so.

edit for post below: so I get cleaner streets AND I told you so? Sign me up. It’s the American way. Bad things need to happen to bad people and magats are bad people. But democracy wanted maga in charge so I’m gonna do my best to follow the will of the people. And I’ll be laughing the entire time when I check this thread.

I agree with that, but taking it a step further, I think our culture needs to shift towards encouraging multi-generational homes. Management of scarce resources, transportation issues and child care costs/time management could be better addressed if we did.

I don't really see much point in discussing something the GOP is going to have less than zero interest in ever addressing.

Once we get rid of all the illegals in prison there will be plenty of room for them

I thought the illegals weren’t in prison and that was part of the problem? Also, why should it be illegal to be homeless if you aren’t bothering anyone?  Why can’t i just say fuck the corporate life and live in a tent somewhere?

100% in agreement, it is primarily a cultural and social norm thing. Americans were sold the vision of the single income, middle class family, white picket fence 1950's bill of goods. It's not tenable now, nor has been for the vast majority of human history.
