Jesus, dude, get a grip. About the dumbest thing you can do is assume someone’s politics and then hate them over your assumption. If you’re gonna hate every 18-21 year old male that makes a dumb decision, you’re gonna hate almost all of them. They don’t know shit about fuck. You think these guys have the time to study the issues and have an informed opinion? They barely have time for school. Their political opinions are undoubtedly similar to their parents. Lastly, if you were gonna tap out on being a Texas fan, you should’ve done it 10 years ago. Doing it during a golden era is just sad, man. Let the hate go, try to find silver linings, and enjoy the game.

Dude. Get a grip and learn to read and comprehend what I wrote. Increased apathy toward the football team is not "hate." MAGA is hate.

-- My apathy is about hardly giving a shit because of the cognitive dissonance and doublethink required to support the team. It is becoming impossible to reconcile being a fan with the obvious UT-SEC move to a region dominated by cultural fascism. It is what it is. And Fascist Cheerleader Frank Drebin loves that!

-- Now, if y'all fellow liberals want to look away and still cheer, that's your right.

As for Quinn and Arch, they are supporting a fascist misogynist patriarchal anti-science political party that is demonstrably hurting women and soon will be hurting Latinos all across America, plus the LGBTQIA communities and many more to come.

-- If these jocks are too dumb to know that, then it seems like a complete fucking educational failure at UT.

-- I am betting that the team is filled with MAGA boys, along with the Athletic Department.

The political and educational situation is no longer about reasonable discussions between Dems and Republicans. Time's up for #bothsides. This is about facing a full-on fascist regime.

We are fighting for the future of any kind of sanity and democracy in America.

If y'all can look the other way and want to cheer those dudes, go ahead.

I'm increasingly opting out.

I have zero desire to watch UT play the Gators from Ground Zero Trump World.

That pretty well sums up Palestinian reasoning for the past 60 or 70 years.  No compromise, we get what we want or else.

Then it turns out "or else" is worse than they thought it would be.

This is what happens when you can't compromise.

Well they can take solice that the election did not hinge on MI results and that their little protest votes had zero effect either way.  Haven’t seen numbers but maybe trump wins Michigan even with them all voting Harris.   Completely impotent display.

I’ve always been fascinated how the Deep South can attract so many black athletes.  Now in today’s game that’s the best football and highest chance to get you into the NFL.  It wasn’t always like that and the racism was much more virulent, yet so many black athletes were still committing to entertain those fucksticks.

The deep south is by far the blackest region of the country, broadly speaking. It's less attracting and more kids just staying home. Paying players before it was legal and less national recruiting before the contemporary era contributed too.

And it's not like racism ends at the borders of the SEC.

The disinformation may indeed be lapped up. When it's discovered to be false, it's generally vomitted back out.

The President-elect of the MAGAs keeps vomitting up lies- the same lies!- and his cult keeps eating it up and asking for more. They embrace lies.

The poor pets of Springfield, for example. The notion that the attackers of the US Capitol are patriots deserving of no punishment. The notion that windmills are carcinogens and that global warming is nothing to worry about.

The MAGAs embrace the lies that keep them in their delusional world where Donald Trump is chosen  by God to keep the queer teachers from grooming their students for sex just prior to be dragged out of class for forced sex altering surgeries.

You know all this. You perversely embrace the embrace of lies. You give no more of a shit about this country than Trump does.

Spike that ball, fuckwad! You're a vicarious winner in the Dickhead Olympiad!

I wrote a paper about this in grad school because I didn’t understand it either.

One word: exoticism

This paper also got me into researching why they call it “Ole Miss” and that led me to never calling it that again and always calling them their government name: Mississippi

I don't think there's a ton of cognitive dissonance or doublethink needed to support Texas football because, as the Gen Zs would say, it's not that deep.

It's a game. It doesn't matter. The way the sport is going, the program is a minor league pro team with a tangential association with the university.

And regarding the players specifically, I would bet plenty of money that "did not vote" won the election among UT football players and that is probably a pretty safe bet most cycles. We're talking 18-23 year olds after all.

Having moved away from Texas, it now requires at least some energy to root for a Texas team. I'm no longer in the collective that feels better rooting for the best the state has to offer. I dunno...maybe I'm just depressed. Maybe college football just became a lot less important to me. OTOH I had to stop myself from buying a flight to Austin for the KY game because something else came up on my schedule.

Good for you. Don't go.
For all y'all who cheered on the move to the SEC SEC SEC but voted for Kamala -- it seems to me the Trump victory is a dildo of consequences.
After all, UT joined the SEC Confederacy, ground zero for MAGA fascism. UT made the bed with Trump-MAGA world, now we gotta lie in it.
The move to the SEC was a post-BLM alignment mandated by Abbott, Eltife, etc. Hartzell and CDC are lackeys carrying the water.
No surprise Quinn and Arch are Trumpers .... Quinn spewing out Jesus quotes in every post interview out front should have told ya. Arch from SEC world is the clue for him.
I would not be surprised to learn that 80-90% of the Athletic Department is MAGA, from CDC on down.  I don't know, but would not be surprised.
My interest in UT football is falling fast to near zero.

lol, we didn’t exactly leave a conference full of schools that are liberal progressive or anything. None of the 14 schools that competed in the Big 12 last year, none are in blue states.

There as a very interesting article in Atlantic a few months ago about Black people and the draw of the South. Some persons and families have long history there. Their family stories, both good and bad, are in those states. Many feel it's a return to their family roots.

I thought it was interesting because I'd never considered that perspective. I don't know how that plays with Black athletes, but it could be a factor of them staying or choosing to move to a southern state school.

You must’ve read my paper as I made this argument at the end of it. You’re absolutely correct here.

EDIT: a lot of Black athletes also feel/felt that playing at these southern schools and getting a degree from them is something they are doing for their ancestors who never got that chance.

I just gave you actual conversations with GC’s and subs I had and what they are seeing with prices and futures, G650 is giving you actual views from the industry and what they are doing on pricing as well. It would be much simpler just to say you’re good with it, you don’t care than ignoring the actual impact on how these things play out.

Sunscreen. Melanoma and other skin cancer risk vs vitamin D deficiency. Supplementation may not have same efficacy as natural production

Interesting take there based on the amount of BS Trump injected into his campaign (eating pets, FEMA/immigrants, etc) that the lapdogs ate up. If you don’t think pricing/futures in the construction industry is already being impacted, then you don’t deal with the industry.

The odd thing about the industry is they have had record years post Covid. I work with 80+ contractors and I can’t think of one that hasn’t had record sales/earnings during that period. They are all as red as they come too, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. There were already signs through the summer that it was checking up especially in certain industries.

I guess it depends on how we define support. We've also moved out of Texas. I was never a major donor but did have season tickets. I'll probably renew them next year, mostly because they are a money maker these days and we'll probably visit Texas for Thanksgiving and go to the aggy game next year.

But it's pretty easy to watch casually from afar. Today's game started at 9:00am PST. It's about to be halftime at 10:30. This will be over by 12-1 and I can get on with my whole day. In that sense it's probably even a healthier level of support than planning social calendars around UT football like we would in Texas.

I can only speak from late 80’s experience, but the kids I grew up with that were good enough to play D1 stayed to be close to family (most were first in family to go to college), and they looked at it as transactional. They were being used and were using the school. The rest didn’t matter

You do see that there is a difference between direct quotes from a presidential candidate/elect and others saying this is what one side or the other will do, don’t you? The horse’s mouth is a much better source of information than accusations by either side and the “horse” is on the record saying the things I mentioned.

1. Trump may not want a national abortion ban, but a significant group of his underlying are interested in it. Comstock Act will be discussed and there's a significant chance it's implemented.

2. He's literally talked about putting her in front of a firing squad.
