back on track, this thread is moving too fast. This needs to be focused on stuff that's actually happening, not sidebar stupidity.

I just asked about more details about old people dying of cancer. I'm not sure what else you wan't me to do, sir.

That place is great. I left my wallet there one time on a business trip the night before I was flying home, and once I got it back I had a lot of fun going around like “I left my wallet in El Carajo I gotta get it, I got, gotta get it.” But at the time it was very stressful.

I looked to see if I could find any pictures of the old interior, but alas, I could not.

This was the old exterior though.

$1.06 in 1998 (when ResE2 came out) is $2.04 in 2024 dollars, and I've definitely bought gas at $2.10 this year

Living in Oregon, gas and diesel is about a dollar more here. I went back to Texas in July, and saw it under 3. It was pretty cool.

Every week, I grill a tri-tip and bake a large pan of chicken thighs for our two high school aged kids to eat for dinner or a snack (after school or late-night). Costs basically nothing and feeds two active teens. Throw in pasta and taco nights and we’re good to go.

Where the hell you finding tri tip these days that’s costing basically nothing. That shit got brisket/fajita-ized years ago.

If you are talking about canned tuna, you know that stuff is already cooked, right?  Didn’t need to spend the money on the energy required to heat that and the mustard.  Every nickel saved is another euro beer ordered.

It was for flavor and not for food safety. You don’t unlock the subtle flavors of the complex mole type sauce that is French’s mustard mixed with fishy brine water from the canned tuna unless you add some heat.

The food in Miami is incredible. The choice for dinner that night was La Mar by Gaston Acurio in the Manderin Oriental on Brickell Key, or El Carajo at the gas station next to the highway.

I remember 50 cent coke, and gas for about 80 cents. Played Resident Evil 2 Remake and the shot of the gas station. I was thinking how expensive it was back for other states out of Texas.

Remember my parents bitching up a storm first time gas went over $1 a gallon when I was a kid...boy those were the good ol days

I remember old analog gas pumps with mechanical price per gallon, total gallons, and total price meters that had only two wheels for the price per gallon (I guess it never occurred to them that they'd ever charge more than a dollar a gallon).  (I'm old)

Believe it or not we have zero immigrants on payroll. We had a brief flirtation in the early 00's but it did not go well. I'm honestly not sure if we even have anyone of Hispanic background right now. I think we must, just because of the odds, but I can't think of anyone off hand.

We’ve decided to splurge on some bigger purchases. A new TV for example anticipating it will be much more expensive this time next year

Bingo. We've made a list of big things we were needing to replace in the next 12 months. New mattress arrives in early December.
