Same shit different name, but it's the same problem.

Unless we're just off the rails on day one, an executive order doesn't overrule the law

Well, treaties themselves are the province of the executive, but trade treaties generally require legislation to fully enable them.

I'm going to assume that these tariffs violate the treaty, which will invoke dispute resolution mechanisms in the treaty and if Canada and Mexico win (it's gonna take a while) the tariffs will be gone.  Then Trump can withdraw from the treaty and not shit the rest of government can do about it.

Can't wait for avocados to cost $10 each.  I mean, 90% of them consumed in the US comes from there.

I'm sure plenty of people will be accepting of an avocado "tax" their favorite restaurant starts charging as well.

First they came for the avocados, but I don't like avocados, so I said nothing....

guacamole is already very very over priced in restaurants

they used to be 10/$1 until white people found out how great they were

same thing happened with fajitas

Shit's about to get real expensive.

Good. I relish the pain everyone is gonna experience.

Republicans have actively worked against controlling the cost of insulin for decades. And no one has given a shit except obama and biden

There are diabetics that my endocrinologist treats that ration their insulin. This is life threatening.

FEEL THE PAIN AMERICA.

What I want to see is when the Surly Law Dogs face the Leopard?

Those reassuring "wheels of justice move slowly" takes they offered were laughable.

Dude, those "takes" are factual.  For good reasons and bad, the wheels of justice move slowly.

It's not some opinion.  And it certainly wasn't offered in defense of Trump.

Yeah, not sure where he was going with that. Courts move slowly on purpose. We may occasionally root for a one-off Ready, Fire, Aim approach, but it’s antithetical to a free system.

But a free system depends on folks not voting to ditch the system.

They do. Getting a run of the mill state felony to trial in 10-12 months takes effort. One of my cases headed to trial passed the year mark in August, when the state realized they missed a crucial step. That one’s somewhat straightforward. Federal prosecutions against public figures are 10x as complex.

I’m sure the 10% from California won’t adjust their prices up to match.  Farmers and agricorps would never take advantage of something like that.

Can your black market avocados find their way to the greater Seattle area?

and are they going to be labeled as abogado’s avocados? (My trademark, we can negotiate)

Partially yes.

The single most regrettable thing is that it's a pay-to-play system where those who can pay play longer than those who can't.  That one, I don't really know how to fix, in a rational way.

She did say "on purpose."  Sure some laziness on the part of judges and prosecutors plays a role along with defense attorneys and "delay favors the defense."  But hardly any of it is on purpose other than defendants usually want to delay things.

But mostly, the system is overstressed.  It's not overstressed if plea bargains are an acceptable outcome at the rate they occur, but it is if we think more jury trials should occur.

Well Elon told the middle class this was going to happen. People will have to deal with some pain. Oh he and all the rich people will be fine. The poor and middle class will continue to suffer. But hey, a large number of them signed up for this, right? They wanted things to be like they were when Daddy Trumps was in office and he's funny with his little dances and how he calls people mean names. This gif is going to get a lot of use in the next 4 years.

Look on the bright side. Through energy policy, this new administration will move the date by which you can grow avocados locally in Western WA up by a significant margin.
