please provide examples of Trump saying he supported US steel and Nippon merger

Okay, did a 1 minute review after searching and I retract.  Trump did not say during the campaign that he was in favor of the Nippon Steel deal.  So the local union guys who feel betrayed by Trump's position weren't lied to, they're just dumb. This also probably doesn't fit the thread since these people were going to get fucked no matter who won.

Looks like Trump said back in aug that he’d block the merger.

Makes sense that xenophobic and maga trump wouldn’t want Japanese and US company merger.

Steel workers appear more to be wishcasting and tantrum throwing than a case of LAMF.

The biggest issue is not that they are idiots, we all knew that after the election, the real question is how do we communicate with these fucking idiots. There has to be an outreach program from day 1 on every moron that avoids politics 47/95 months every 4/8 years

There is.  It's called "Flood social media with tasty, easily digestible lies that they want to hear."

That's it.  That's the entire plan.  It works.  We should do that next time.

Yes, but we also fuck up on this forum with the no politics discussion on the football/recruiting board.

If I could root cause the idiocracy this would probably be it something like 30% of the population absolute refuses to engage with the most important discussion of our lives but still gets to vote on election day and pat themselves on the back. I want everyone to to keep posting to these steelworkers every single day after their plant gets shut down that "them getting fired was the will of OUR republican president and that their sacrifice was worth it". That is how you get through to people, people are allergic to facts and logic, but people love emotion, well connect their emotional despair to Donald Trump.

Connecting that emotional despair to fact-based things is not enough.  You have to make up outrageous, inflammatory lies.

I didn't make these rules.  I'm just telling you what they are.

It's a delicate balance, I still don't think becoming liars is a winning strategy and at the end of the day we still have almost everyone that is logical and factual on our tent, but we have to stop avoiding the clearest of all realities we have to embrace populism and push politics everywhere all at once, the United States is in an economic/republic decline not unlike what Rome went through, we absolutely need to jetison the policy wonks, the adults in the room because while I think 40-45% are irredeemable (hateful ideocracy), that is not why the election was lost it was lost because of the detached ideocracy.

That is assuming our Ceasar is not successful at establishing the empire before he croaks.

Despite the rock-solid, tangible evidence to the contrary staring you in the face.  Look at election results over the past decade.  They are what they are.

Yes.  And how do you communicate effectively with and persuade idiots?  NOT WITH FACTS AND EVIDENCE.  YOU DO IT BY APPEAL TO EXTREME EMOTION, WHICH CAN ONLY BE ACCOMPLISHED BY OUTRAGEOUS LIES.

You can still appeal to emotion and not lie, Trump lying about tariffs being paid by China is a clear lie, but saying that you will increase real salaries for working families by for example doubling minimum wage is a partial truth, perhaps unsustainable in the medium to long term but enough to have seen him go away.

At the end of the day democrats messaging went from BBB, to austerity THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS and that is why we get crushed by the absolute trash of this earth, it should have gone from BBB in year one to double down with handouts and promises for the working class, Poverty IS rising we need to drill down to people on who did this to them, and that is our only ticket to finally end the "republicans are better for the economy" murderball. Even if inflation rises even if the macro indicators are sluggish, the number 1 goal was to prevent the orange ball from power and they chose to follow the corpocrats and chase never trumpers.

"I'm going to make inflation go away."

"Gasoline will be so cheap you won't even believe it."

You have to promise simple, stupid, outrageous things.  The kid who ran for 4th grade class president (and I selected that year because that level is the average level of intelligence of Americans) who promised ice cream and pizza for lunch every day and no more tests ALWAYS WON.  ALWAYS.  Promise the people ice cream and pizza and no taxes and you will ban fans of the football team they hate and you will protect them from the man-eating lions roaming their neighborhoods and you will send every American a tax rebate check for $10,000 and blah blah blah....AND YOU WILL WIN.  100% of the time, you will win.

Once you win, THEN you can govern....because most of those people won't be paying any attention.  Then, when it's time to run for re-election, just lie about what you did, say it was awesome, and deny any of the bad shit you did, calling your opponent who says such things "fake news."  Boom.  Re-elected.

Stop making this complicated.  The voters certainly aren't.

Inflation was the absolute most disgusting trap and we fell for it hook line and sinker, it is like they set up this Willy E Coyote painted train tunnel and we ran head first into it.

The fundamentals is that REAL salaries are dropping, if these rise it does not matter what inflation really is you still get a decade or two of fucking peace. Instead we ran head first into austerity and then we wonder why Biden was not popular. He could have been 110 and still won if he did not value his legacy above doing what should have been his #1 job, keep the traitor out.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that easy because you have to get to a plurality, which means that you need to get a good chunk of the idiots without losing the rest of your voters.  That works for the GQP because they have a rare mix of idiots / racists / misogynists that want to be lied to along with a craven group of greedy MFers that don't care if the GQP is lying nonstop to group #1.  The Democrats unfortunately have principled citizens among their base that might just stay home if their representatives are incessantly lying.  The trick is to get those voters to understand the implied "wink-wink, we don't believe any of this" while having the media help flood the zone with lies.  It's a tough balancing act when you don't have an echo chamber that won't ask the obvious "why the fuck are you lying about obvious shit" question.

Exactly it is not as easy as just lying, we need to cut out the MSM though they are 120% in the corpocrat side, their tent is to keep the corporation happy so no more CNN, MSNBC, et all treat them as elites out of touch.

Economics is not a real science, it is all a fucking lie, yes I do believe that Kamala's entrepreneurial economy is not a disaster maybe even the adult thing to promise but it is fucking allergic, the common worker wants better salaries, that was it, they did not care that eggs are now at $4 a dozen, they wanted to earn $20 an hour to offset it with 15 minutes of work. Democrats keep going to the austerity well and it fucking kills me. If we are all going down lets at least be the ones in power not the ones sniffing our own farts with a superiority complex.

I always knew that being the goldman and sachs candidate was poison, but I always believed the revulsion of DJT was enough to delay the thumping, nope... dead wrong, people really are that stupid that they hate the man but still think he is going to lift them out of poverty they just pinched their nose, this is reason #1, #2, and #3 we lost.

Just promise the people free money, low prices, and you'll hurt everyone they don't like and blame for their failures even though they are largely responsible for their failures.  Oh, and suck billionaire cock, cup the balls and gargle the gravy.  Let them know they can do whatever they want with no government interference.  Gotta get the oligarchs on your side, too.  That's important.

In hindsight it’s absolutely insane Biden didn’t send out stimulus checks in the summer. The negative impact wouldn’t hit until well after the election and the immediate gratification for the dipshits could have swung it

It is ENRAGING, Biden was a a double agent for Trump, I will never let this assertion die, he was a legacy/civilty obssessed moron that doomed us, he is along with Buchanon, Johnson, and Pierce as the absulete worst presidents in US history because he put his head in the sand.

Yes I know Trump is #1 worst but it is not the issue the issue is that people bled for Joe Biden and he fucking betrayed us for his god damn legacy.

Watch Trump do handouts in 2028 and run for a third unconstitutional term, if by some miracle the SCOTUS elminates the ammendent and Barak runs and wins, watch him doom us by doing austerity to clean up the Trump mess, never again, ever do what your dishonest opponent wants, even it is the right thing to do, instead do the right thing that is adjacent to what they want.

Biden may not be the best president of our lifetimes, but he did a good job cleaning up the diarrhea shit sandwich of COVID/looming recession/inflation/insurrection that Trump left in his wake.  Just like the next Dem president will be pretty damn good after Trump leaves us with another shit sandwich economic collapse in a few years.  Its like fucking clockwork that repub presidents will cause a recession.  The problem is the clean up will be painful and require some pain.   But the American public has the mentality of a 2yr old toddler, and the memory of a fruit fly.   You can't just tell them to eat their broccoli cause it's rich in vitamins and good for them.  You have to pretend that the broccoli represents a magical fairy tree and that eating it will make you a magical princess with a unicorn.   That unfortunately is the society we live in and so yes, lie lie lie if you want to win.

I think there is a way to thread the needle.  In our profession, the word for it is "advocacy."  Not lies, but an emphasis on what is good for our client and a de-emphasis on what is bad.  As I have said before, the Dems need to go to a populist strategy by demonizing the rich and corporations.  "The rich and corporations are the reason you don't have more money!"  "If you are not making more than $100K per year in this GREAT country, it's because you are being taken advantage of and stolen from by the rich and corporations!"  "We'll tax THE FUCK out of both and lower your taxes because that is what is fair and right and what George Washington would have wanted!"

Biden is a great legacy president, the problem is we did not need a legacy president, that period is long over, we need someone who recognizes a neo nazi threat, we needed an FDR or hell even a Churchill, instead we got a Pierce or Buchanon.

The absolute worst part is that I don't see us moving away from it, there was too much god damn push back towards populism immediately after the election, I like Bernie but he needs to push harder and harder, the corpocrats are still in control.

Raising minimum wage was a hallmark of middle class growth that the Biden administration did not hammer that again and again and again and again is downright criminal.  This has the added advantage that Republicans are allergic to it so they won't copy a dramatic increase in the minimum wage.

This is the universal truth about the US economy, the rich will be rich and everyone else will provide them with a service, manufacturing is gone finito fin, Chips act is fine but everything else is just a waste of time, make sure those service jobs pay well and you will have a happy population, let these service jobs enter into poverty and you have the hallmarks for desperate upheaval.

Sorry, dude.  This was debunked upthread.  The union workers weren't lied to; they were just dumb.

But isn’t that most voters? It’s like with the tariffs. It’s the one policy Trump has consistently harped on, yet millions pulled the lever believing “he’s not actually going to do across the board tariffs, just targeted ones”

And now we have brewing trade wars with our biggest trade partners in Mexico, Canada, China…

This thread (IMO) is about people who voted for Trump facing the consequences of their decisions, regardless of whether they were dumb or lied to.

His legacy is going to be a lot more mixed now, but certainly his policy achievements rank up there with the best of our Presidents, especially considering his single term.

But to put him in bottom 5 is laughable
