Well, when Hitler took the rest of Czechoslovakia the next spring, they knew it was on. Hell, they declared war on Germany in September.   Why Britain hard time gearing up plane production I have no idea, but by 1939 there was no question there was gonna be a war - because they declared war.

if the alien drones have not already altered the historical documents, I will try to figure out why more planes weren’t produced

It all seems like some excuse, lets prepare for war, only to not prepare for war and sit on their asses, in Munich they could have revived the Triple Entent plus CZ, they refused to do so because of ideology, the conservative party prefered Hitler over Stalin.

I don't get the last reference.

Taking a look at this, Wm. Morris, Lord Nuffield, of Morris Motors, was a major motor (not aircraft) manufacturer, and also a fascist.  He pretty seriously obstructed the British buildup of aircraft manufacture, which needed to enlist automotive manufacturers.

Nuffield's facility, Castle Bromwich, given to Vickers in 1940, produced 12000 Spitfires over the duration in addition to Lancasters.

Long story short, the fascists and isolationists didn't want to play war.  There was a lot of that in England until shit got real.  Here, too, for that matter.

Key points about the limitations of British war plane production in 1939:
  • Insufficient factory capacity:
The British aircraft industry had not been geared towards large-scale war production in the years leading up to the war, resulting in a shortage of manufacturing facilities when needed.

  • "Shadow Factory" program delays:
While the "Shadow Factory" program aimed to address the capacity issue, many of these new factories faced initial problems with management, workforce, and production delays, particularly in the early stages of the war.

  • Lack of urgency in pre-war planning:
The British government initially hesitated to fully commit to large-scale aircraft production before the war, leading to a slower start when hostilities began.

  • Concentration of factories in vulnerable areas:
Most aircraft manufacturers were located in southern England, making them susceptible to enemy air raids, further hindering production

The reason you are the mesquite thorn that has made itself known isn’t due to insecurity. Just the opposite. It is certainty. You are a threat to members of my family. US institutions and medical experts have gone rogue? Fuck you.

Further, fuck your lily-livered posts on the subject of the alt right and the scourge of turnip as well. You are far more enabler than critic.

That is outstanding.

Gotta admit, Mr. US-led Rules Based International Order responding with this gif to this post, with emphasis on the consistency part, is pretty fucking hilarious.  Thanks for that.

Come off it. That (the post WWII rules based international order) was at stake 2017, not now. It was worth protecting in my opinion but that’s all over but the crying. That hasn’t been at issue in years.
This world of 2024 is the world you wanted. It’s Bartertown now. I didn’t want this, but in a way I’ve been waiting my whole life for it, and I guess I don’t understand why you seem so bitter.
You won! What’s with the attitude?

You got posters on this thread that have literally posted that they hope that other posters get to see the life leave their family members eyes while their blood pools around their feet, so spare me the fucking vapors over a critique of the evidence base for certain medical interventions, and a US medical establishment that is increasingly isolated in their approach.

The NHS is controlled by the British government. Our Endocrine Society and the Mayo Clinic are not under the federal thumb. They are run by experts in their field.  You are due no credibility on the subject, as your posts have proven. You have met every opportunity to explain, to convey, and to inform by choosing to ridicule.

I’ve met so many government employees that claim to have given up big time “private sector money” to “serve.”  Most of them couldn’t handle the pressure of working at a place that has to make a profit and doesn’t offer a cushy ass retirement after 20 years or so.

Man, this blew up right in your face really nasty

Musk told Trump that he didn't like the bill so Trump went on Fox and said that he doesn't support it so now the provisions to help the storm victims and the farmers will be stripped out before the House votes for a continuing resolution. The storm victims and the farmers all voted for Trump so now they can enjoy getting what they voted for - elections have consequences.

Reagan's self-fulfilling prophecy. Such a broad shit river of a legacy that figurehead for greed has left for that shining city on a hill.
I've recentl come to the conclusion that his presidency was more poisonous than Nixon's.

Nixon was shamed by his own party.

That left a mark….for a minute.

It really is fascinating seeing Goebbels' statement in action in my lifetime.   And horrifying.

Chip Roy, come get you some leopard.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/12/19/trump-administration-transition/#link-3DGB3RBIGVCUXK7O5VVMQND3M4

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday issued blistering criticism of Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) as House Republicans raced to meet Trump’s latest demands to avoid a government shutdown.

“The very unpopular ‘Congressman’ from Texas, Chip Roy, is getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory — All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform, later adding, “Weak and ineffective people like Chip have to be dismissed as being utterly unknowledgeable as to the ways of politics, and as to Making America Great Again.”

In a second post, Trump said he hoped “some talent challengers” were preparing to run against Roy and that the incumbent “won’t have a chance!”

It was not immediately clear how Roy upset Trump. But Roy is a well-known fiscal hawk who has resisted raising the debt ceiling, something that Trump is asking from Republican lawmakers as they rush to avert a government shutdown before the weekend.

Roy appeared to respond to Trump on X, saying: “My position is simple — I am not going to raise or suspend the debt ceiling (racking up more debt) without significant & real spending cuts attached to it. I’ve been negotiating to that end. No apologies.”

Trump and Roy have clashed before. Trump also called for primary challengers against Roy in a Truth Social post about a year ago, though it came days after the candidate filing deadline for the 2024 primary in Texas, and Roy went unopposed.

Roy was one of the few House Republicans to back Trump’s rival in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump’s second post about Roy on Thursday also brought up Rep. Bob Good (R-Virginia), who lost his primary this year after Trump endorsed his challenger.

“By the way, how’s Bob Good doing?” Trump asked.

He wants to raise the debt ceiling? I thought they hated that part and were gonna cut everything and fix the deficit?

That was the first election promise.  Along with $8 every 6 months for health care that covers everything.

Or get a second job in one of the many slaughterhouses and meat processing plants that are about to see a 75% decrease in workers once Miller convinces Trump and Elmo to send ICE agents their way. Those hard workin', back bone of 'murica, honest day's work for an honest day's pay types are gonna love trying to make their $80K truck's note on an extra $7/hour.

Pay attention to that name - Vought. That’s Russ Vought, the incoming head of OMB. He’s very smart, competent, and practical. He knows how the government works and what strings to pull. He’s the policy brain of Project 2025 at Heritage and a true-believer, a self identified Christian Nationalist, and the guy I am most worried about.

When the GOP manages to pull themselves together well enough to do real damage over the next four years, he will usually be at the center of it.

Me too, but on the other hand watching Trump repeatedly swoop in at the last minute to fuck up Vought’s plans because of something Trump saw on Twitter or someone who came into his office, and seeing their relationship degrade in public until the inevitable firing/disgrace/shunning will be fun.

There is nothing remotely surprising about this second term for Trump. Who he is and what he plans to do was right their under everybody's noses in bright, clear sunlight. Ignorance is no defense. In my lifetime, there has never been an election that painted a clearer picture of the American electorate.

That's where I'm at.

There's no way anyone could say they think he's a good person or capable of running the country/world.  They're just lazy and willfully stupid.

You wanted it?  You got it.
