Chip Roy, come get you some leopard.

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday issued blistering criticism of Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) as House Republicans raced to meet Trump’s latest demands to avoid a government shutdown.

“The very unpopular ‘Congressman’ from Texas, Chip Roy, is getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory — All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform, later adding, “Weak and ineffective people like Chip have to be dismissed as being utterly unknowledgeable as to the ways of politics, and as to Making America Great Again.”

In a second post, Trump said he hoped “some talent challengers” were preparing to run against Roy and that the incumbent “won’t have a chance!”

It was not immediately clear how Roy upset Trump. But Roy is a well-known fiscal hawk who has resisted raising the debt ceiling, something that Trump is asking from Republican lawmakers as they rush to avert a government shutdown before the weekend.

Roy appeared to respond to Trump on X, saying: “My position is simple — I am not going to raise or suspend the debt ceiling (racking up more debt) without significant & real spending cuts attached to it. I’ve been negotiating to that end. No apologies.”

Trump and Roy have clashed before. Trump also called for primary challengers against Roy in a Truth Social post about a year ago, though it came days after the candidate filing deadline for the 2024 primary in Texas, and Roy went unopposed.

Roy was one of the few House Republicans to back Trump’s rival in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump’s second post about Roy on Thursday also brought up Rep. Bob Good (R-Virginia), who lost his primary this year after Trump endorsed his challenger.

“By the way, how’s Bob Good doing?” Trump asked.

This guy?  He's a patriot SAVING THE COUNTRY.

Me too, but on the other hand watching Trump repeatedly swoop in at the last minute to fuck up Vought’s plans because of something Trump saw on Twitter or someone who came into his office, and seeing their relationship degrade in public until the inevitable firing/disgrace/shunning will be fun.

Wasn’t this Bannon’s role last time around?

Shit. I’d rather have Elon than Trump.

Both are egotistical and racist, but at least Elon knows how NOT to turn everything he touches into dogshit.

Will Elon be vengeful? Probably. But I bet he doesn’t get butthurt every time someone says something slightly negative.

You clearly have not been on Twitter recently

I can't say which would be worse, but Musk would be absolutely horrible running a government. He's shown with his companies every human life is expendable in the name of profit and what he considers "progress". That mentality is disastrous for running governments.

Musk and his ilk are modern day William McKinley's. People who believe all of the wealth and power should be concentrated at the top in a small group of wealth elitists, and those wealth elitists get to decide what happens with the nation's wealth.

We need a modern day Grover Cleveland to step up. Someone to fight against that for the sake of actual democracy.

Yeah, except the voters would call Cleveland a fag and gleefully vote for Elon or Joe Rogan while getting their pockets picked and saying “please sir, may I have some more?”

He already has one.  They are morons, but they exist.

100%. If you don’t realize that if Elon said “armed patriots, you must attack the evil liberals at Berkeley to save America!”, we’d have dead people at Cal before the day was out, you haven’t been paying any attention.
He’s the most evil, dangerous man alive.

We'll see if the Democrats have the balls to let America fully suffer during the dysfunction of Trump and Musk. It would have already started today but they stepped up and bailed out Johnson last night. I hope the only reason is because Biden is still president. This better be the last time.

And for fucks sake get your own network of bots up and running rightfully blaming all the suffering that happens on Trump, musk, elitist CEOs, and Republicans. The people are already showing they're dangerously close to rebellion against corporate jagoffs with the celebration of the healthcare CEO murder. Just flood social media with simplistic, emotionally charged language rightfully connecting the dots for them on everything that's about to happen.

The road map for Democrats to become the party of the people again is clear. If they don't follow it they're nothing but the ineffectual pussies we think they are.

You think this about you and I and "the people"?

Man y'all....  Anybody with any sense realizes they can only be at the top of this symbolically. They can't really run shit except the illusion for a bit.

The U.S fails immediately if the situation changes significantly.

Poor people gonna get nothing, aside from an occasional exception. Middle class is gonna work it's ass off trying to be less middle class (which may elevate everyone). Owners are gonna own as long as they can own.

And shit can't get too crazy because we're all needed for this to work.

Elon or Obama... A strike at the ports affects the whole world negatively, and instantly.

We will be alright. The suffering won't be much different than it's been. Even the two crazy asses know they need the rest of for them to maintain their temporary illusion.

Now, I do believe one of them is capable of fucking annoying, so I'm still skeptical

Whatever. I'm drunk. I don't even know what I'm responding to right now. I'm probably right, though.

One of Musk’s fantasies is having an army he can control.

There are two kinds of armies. Ones where the leaders make sure the troops eat before the officers (eg US, British, German, Israeli,) and those where it's typical for the officers to lord it over their flunkies (Most of the rest.)

It's not hard to imagine where Elon's Army would shake out. He could, like a proper 3rd world warlord, trick it out with gobs of gear and guys who flinch while trying to impress him. It could cause some trouble until dismantled by guys who know the basics.

Elected Dems have interest in anything but advancing their individual careers. If somehow that means moving out of this nightmare rather than, as usual, dithering about and grifting slightly less obviously than Pubs, maybe we’ll move forward. In other words, if things get better, it’ll be an accident.
