blah blah blah, whatever, dirty hippie libtard.  If you don't MAGA, you're a commie libtard.  Did you not get the memo?

Also...if you were Alex P. Keaton....could you introduce 1987 Brisket to 1987 Justine Bateman?  Thanks, dude.

I saw her first.

Although 2025 Justine is full on MAGA. SAD!

WW3 is probably the only thing that can cure the current political situation that has been building here. The downside is, the earth will no longer be habitable and we'll all be dead.

The Fourth Turning Is Here predicts calamity by around 2030, give or take. Yeah something really bad is on the horizon. Either World war, civil war, revolution, or pandemic. Maybe even a combo of them. So that’s cool

That book is one of the most chilling things I've ever read.  It was published in 1996.  Its predictions for the post-2010 period have been fucking absurdly spot-on, and horrifyingly so.  We're in for a lot more super-bad shit.  And, as has become apparent by our chosen path, almost all of it will be self-inflicted.

It’s because of our short memories and attention spans. And not just ours as in Americans. Humans have short memories so we fall back into these rhythms and patterns. But one of the positives is that we’ve been through them before and have advanced further because of them. Of course there’s no guarantee that we’ll get through this one with a positive ending. But I choose to believe that we will. I mean, if I don’t then I’ll just spiral

I don't think we make it through.  You know that about me.  But where I take solace is the pattern in prior collapses -- society fractures, and people break down into their smaller family/social units.  They take care of them and theirs.  That's our aim: we work together with our friends and family to take care of each other.  The units that function well together will survive, even prosper, as the overall fabric goes to shit.

Life is going to be hard for a LOT of people.  What you can do is soften the blow for you and yours.

Oh, and if you think like me, pour gasoline on the fire that makes life hard for the people who chose this path.  They chose suffering, so they need to experience it.  Nothing like burning yourself to a crisp to convince you to say "well....I don't think I want to do THAT again."

Honestly I just hope my parents pass before shit hits the fan. I don’t want them suffering with their health issues trying to make it with us. Especially if we end up having to leave the country. Well great, now I’m even more fucking depressed

The most frustrating thing about these conversations is understanding the frustrations some had with vaccine mandates* with the fear being something to the affect of "if you give 'them' this much power, they'll never give it back and they'll just keep taking" but then those same people being unmoved when that they [checks notes] gave it all back, just like they said they would.

*and, obviously, mistakes were made

If we are ever able to get past this Nazi regime and look back at the wreckage, these people will blame it all on the power the liberals gave the government during COVID.

I'd put more stock in that book/theory's predictive power if it weren't for the fact that so many on the right are actively trying to make it true.

You want to truly be terrified by a book's predictive power? Read Parable of the Sower.

I’m currently in the sequel to that book, “Parable of the talents”… I shit you not, the presidential campaign slogan is literally, “make America great again.”  Written in 2000

You think Trump came up with that shit on his own?

Exactly. I started a thread on Insulin in Aug 2022 and got beat up pretty good initially. I responded to the tsunami and explained my viewpoint with my life experiences and perspective. I didn’t run away like a chickenshit.

You did?  I mean, I remember the thread and found your posts very helpful as to understanding the situation with modern insulin practices.

He’s obviously not a project manager. If so, those projects would be a mess. It would go something like this.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Hey Ragde, I’m supposed to deliver and install the rebar five working days before the concrete pour. Can you confirm the date of the pour?

Ragde: There’s a flock of ducks that keeps waddling over from the nearby pond onto the worksite.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Okay. But, please confirm the date of the pour.

Ragde: These ducks are a nuisance. They’ll likely fly south when winter approaches.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Yeah, ducks will be ducks. Again, please confirm the date of the pour.

Ragde: Good news! The ducks have gone to the conservationist corners of the pond.

My MAGA brother and his friends are all convinced that all that Armageddon Mad Max timeline will be only be suffered by the unbelievers.  All the righteous white evangelicals will be swept up by the rapture balloons in the nick of time.

Let's don't think critically and vote for people to improve life on earth for all, let's just burn it all down while we line our pockets (to make the last few days as comfortable as possible) then tell everyone to pray for our nation(fuck the rest of the world).  God will send the rapture like he did the ark.  But to be doubly sure you get passage, bring along your Trump Bible.

Good luck with that. Covid is a game of Russian health roulette. I’ve had it twice. That’s it. I’m healthy, active, not one single marker that would say to you, she’s gonna get it bad this time. Six months later? Finally over it. Symptoms? Let’s see… non-responsive severe asthma like symptoms - couldn’t breathe - for 12 fucking weeks, cough that would not stop, severe insomnia for 20 weeks, a good night of sleep was 4 hours, zero hours for at least two days in a row happened more times than I could count, severe depression, severe anxiety, panic attacks, severe PTSD, internal vibrations, hypnic jerks, flashes of light when trying to sleep, severe chest pain, tinnitus… I think I got most of them… basically brain, lung, cardiovascular, nervous system, lungs and ENT injuries that took thousands of dollars and a thousand healthy choices and decisions to get back to good health.*

my wife builds houses, her plumbing crew in 2020 lost two guys - died of covid.

5% of the global population has long covid.

It’s a total FAFO virus. Please for your own sake take it more seriously.

* I’m pretty much back and doing great, just some lingering PTSD that’s subsiding.
