Tom Smude of smude’s sunflower oil is happy that government is slashing spending while also confused why he isn’t gonna get government money. Main character syndrome makes another appearance.

Be a shame if someone were to help tom understand the hypocrisy in his worldview.

How are you still probationary at 16 years?

I think I've read elsewhere that employees go back on probationary status when they change departments, which was the case with this person.

He transferred between agencies. He went from USDA to DHS then back to USDA recently.

Sounds like he's going to just have to pull himself up by his bootstraps.

Thoughts and prayers.

I don’t drink or do drugs, this board clearly does when every answer to Democrat problems is spend more money on advertising.

If your not under the influence of something, you’re going to need to go to a doctor.

Just be better. You seam like you're bitter because you are poor and cant afford to live in North West Hills, Tarrytown, or Westlake. Why does where you live matter to you?

I do not live in Austin anymore. I live remotely cause I'm better than you. I have a rental there, across the street from a world renowned Michelin star BBQ restaurant. Please keep up the class warfare, its working well for the party.

Huh. I know a few ranchers, I am not sure what these regulations are. But granted it is increasingly grim for the small ag business out there in general.

It would be funny if the guy who is trying to make us all eat healthy food and do yoga was going to reduce all the regulations though.

One of the biggest myths people somehow swallow is that there is some huge difference between government and corporate employees.   Both groups are just people doing a job.  Like any large body of people doing a job, 10-20% are going to kick ass at what they do, 10-20% are going to suck shit at what they do and the rest are all going to be somewhere from slightly below to slightly above average at what they do.  The venue for the work makes absolutely no difference.

Do you even invisible hand, bro?

I just went to grocery store. The cashier audibly gasp when my sumo mandarins rang up as she saw the price.

What I normally get for a weekly shopping trip for around $140, I paid $200.

The poor are gonna suffer. Let the reckoning begin.

Well you don't need no fat japanese mandarins. Buy American mandarins dammit. Ya know, the ones that come in plastic cups.

Or wait, maybe this is what all those pissed off farmers in Nebraska can do. Grow Mandarins.

Stupid GenX.

Suffering of the people gives me no pleasure, but it might be the only way to wake these people up to the danger these radical right wing policies pose.

But I think that they will suffer and just continue supporting them. As sad as that makes me.

They were both out-messaged and out-lied. In swing states Republicans hammered home the message that Kamala Harris supports taxpayer funded transgender surgery for prisoners and detained migrants. She also supported cutting funding for ICE. These are really easy points to communicate and like it or not these ideas are very unpopular with most Americans.

Too many people in this thread are unable to come to terms with the fact that this should have been a landslide victory for democrats, but they shot themselves in the foot by continuing to vocally support unpopular fringe causes.

I had a political science professor who always hammered home the idea that if you want to win an election you have to win over "Johnny Six-Pack". Johnny Six-Pack isn't going to research the Republicans lies, but he absolutely knows he doesn't want his taxes going towards transgender surgery for prisoners.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/09/politics/kfile-harris-pledged-support-in-2019-to-cut-ice-funding-and-provide-transgender-surgery-to-detained-migrants/index.html

Well, that and there might have been quite a few voting irregularities in the seven swing states that it might not have mattered anyway. I read somewhere that chances of one candidate winning all seven swing states by just enough votes to not trigger a hand recount without getting 50% of the popular vote was something like 35 billion to one.

I think I mentioned it in this thread, maybe it was another one, but my FIL is suffering from congestive heart failure. I talked about his primary medication no longer being covered by Medicare prescription add-on (it's expensive AF) but there were a couple of other alternatives that he can take that were. My wife and I didn't know if this was any way related to Trump winning in November or if the advising agent fucked up when placing this year's coverage. This became known before Trump was even sworn-in.

However, there is something that I'm sure is absolutely part of Trump's dismantling of the medical research programs via Musk's toadies. There is a new study being done on a drug at UT-Southwestern that supposedly can reverse the effects of the type of congestive heart failure that he has. He was going to take part as either the drug or placebo portion. Those in the placebo portion would be first in line to get the medication after the trial is over. Well, he hasn't heard a peep about this study in weeks. I'm sure it's no longer happening unless policy is reversed (and I'm sure that will happen). Again, my in-laws are really wonderful people but the chickens have come home to roost. My FIL was already seeing the light before this and I think my MIL is slowly understanding the situation that they've both helped vote in.

In short, this is not one that I'll celebrate on this thread because it hits almost as close to home as possible. I just bring it to your attention as another example of what can happen when you vote for shitty people with evil intention.

This is where I'm at.  I hate that innocent people and kids are going to hurt. But these morons will still vote R.  There was absolutely no reason for anyone to vote for him the last two elections. But still they did.

Shitheads gonna shithead.

Problem is it will take extreme level problems for them to wake up enough to fix it.

We can’t fix this without a huge shift to the left in governance and that shift would have to maintain for a long time. The only way that happens is some sort of disaster level problem like the Great Depression. And that shit would suck for everyone.
Pretty amazing that less than 100 years later and we’ve abandoned the things that made this country the economic powerhouse of the world.

These idiots cheering on regular employees being shitcanned to save pennies is hilarious. Salaries for federal employees makes up what…10% of the budget?

I read 7.5% recently, but that is just civilian employees and makes up about 300 billion of the budget.  That doesn't include the military personnel though, which is also a huge chunk of people. Although the military votes pretty red, they might not take as big of an axe to it, since this all seems politically driven.

No, you're $25/hour salary isn't important. Because you're not important. Never have been, never will be. Not to them. But will you start to grasp that now and adjust accordingly? lulz, just kidding
