Oh ffs

Trump and Doge aren’t the same in the context of my paragraph that PdM referenced.  A argument in the defense of a policy or action isn’t a defense of Trump holistically.

I’ll have some whatever drugs you are on, thank you

The FO stage is warming up on the “Texas miracle”?

https://www.dallasfed.org/research/surveys/tmos/2025/2502

You know, I was just going to post a couple of statistics from that article but they just get better and better.  And they used the word "tumbled."  When it comes to economics, "shrink" and "negative" are bad but "tumbled" is Ooff worthy:

Texas factory activity fell in February after rising notably in January, according to business executives responding to the Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey. The production index, a key measure of state manufacturing conditions, fell 21 points to -9.1.

Other measures of manufacturing activity also declined this month. The new orders index fell 11 points to -3.5, and the capacity utilization index slid 14 points to -8.7. The shipments index remained positive but edged down to 5.6.

Perceptions of broader business conditions worsened in February. The general business activity index tumbled 22 points to -8.3, and the company outlook index fell 24 points to -5.2. The outlook uncertainty index shot up to 29.2 from a near-zero reading last month, reaching a seven-month high.

Labor market measures suggested flat head counts and shorter workweeks this month. The employment index came in near zero, with 12 percent of firms noting net hiring and an equal share noting net layoffs. The hours worked index slipped to -14.2, its lowest reading since mid-2020.

Input cost pressures intensified in February, while wage pressures retreated slightly. The raw materials prices index pushed up 18 points to 35.0, a multiyear high. The finished goods prices index inched up to 7.8, near its average level. The wages and benefits index edged down to 16.7 from 20.9.

They voted for Trump, but now they’re losing their U.S. government jobs

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2025-02-26/federal-job-cuts-hit-trump-supporters

Some deliciousness:

“I was thinking that there would be changes,” said a Department of Agriculture researcher in the mid-Atlantic region who studies drought- and pest-resistant crops. “But instead of being focused, this is just going completely off the rails, chopping and slicing up parts of the government that are protecting Americans.”

The worker — who asked to remain anonymous to increase his chances of regaining his job — said he twice voted for Trump and was disturbed at how much authority over government reductions the president had turned over to his chief cost-cutter, Elon Musk.

Jocelyn Steward, a health insurance specialist with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said she thought it was the Trump administration that had lost the focus on the proper priorities.

Steward said she had consistently voted as a Democrat but felt that, as a Black woman, the party had taken her vote for granted. She voted for Trump, hoping for change, in 2016, 2020 and last year. But she now feels Musk has helped lead the president astray. “I would love to see Trump remove him and put himself back in complete charge,” she said. “I believe it’s going to ruin his presidency.”

Another Trump voter described how he had served with the military in Iraq and Afghanistan, suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, and recently found fulfillment at the Veterans Affairs Department, helping others work through financial difficulties.

“I mean, I’ll recover, but this, this was really a job that meant a lot to me,” said the worker, who identified himself only as Mike. “It was a way for me to give back, to help veterans that are struggling, and that was something I felt that I did a very good job at.”

He said he had “proudly” voted for Trump. “But at this point, I mean obviously, I never would have expected things to go this far. I’m still in shock,” he added. “To say whether I regret that vote, I don’t want to go as far as to say that.”

@immamac needs to figure out how to make plain text the default paste and they have to click to keep the formatting instead.

Then we can crowdsource posters who click that instead of having to ask them to click plain text like we do now.

Sometimes I intentionally don't post in plaintext so it's more apparent I'm posting the direct text from the thing I'm linking to, is it really that disruptive when formatted text comes up?

On dark mode it puts a white background sometimes. If you paste into notepad or any text editor then post it it won't though. I'm not really sure why, but the editor changes pretty drastically in the next version so I wouldn't do much

Never fear. Brainworms got this.

This is exactly what many of us have been saying. It’ll take actually seeing pain and suffering for some to realize the shit we’re in. Their inability to conceive of the pain of others, or how it may be visited upon them, will result in everyone getting burned by the flames. Fucking insanity.

Oh, like the site-generated dark mode? Interesting, I leave the site on the "light" style and use system level settings on my phone/computer OS to render pages as dark. Never had a problem like that with block background coloring to the text.

Sorry to anyone I've ever unintentionally flash banged with a big block of white text lol

For the millionth time.  You all crowd sourced anyone inclined to argue pro-maga points.  Now you scratch your head and mockingly declare triumph in the “debate”.

it’s laughable.

For me personally, again for the millionth time, there is no defense of Trump.  He is a loudmouth asshole.  I’m in favor of a massive reduction of the federal government.  The process we are undertaking with DOGE is chaos.  Maybe it’s the only way a massive reduction can happen is chaos.

Are you willing to admit that neither you nor any of your people ever gave a single shit about “THe dEfiCIt” or are you going to be a bitch ass pussy and pretend that talking point ever existed. Or maybe it’s “Trumps budget and Trumps budget approved by Congress” aren’T ThE SAMe ThIng.

Quote

Scientists have finally given the all-clear to Earth from a newly discovered asteroid.

After two months of observations, scientists have almost fully ruled out any threat from the asteroid 2024 YR4, NASA and the European Space Agency said Tuesday.

At one point, the odds of a strike in 2032 were as high as about 3% and topped the world’s asteroid-risk lists.

ESA has since lowered the odds to 0.001%. NASA had it down to 0.0027% — meaning the asteroid will safely pass Earth in 2032 and there’s no threat of impact for the next century.

Obviously the solution is to fire everyone in the understaffed department responsible for catching and prosecuting fraud and put the largest fraudster in American history in charge of the American government.

I am at the point where I hope they do gut Medicaid by 880 billion and dramatically shrink SNAP benefits without a single democratic rep’s vote. This will disproportionately harm red states and this is what happens when you elect republicans

according to my handy dandy desk drawer TI-30XIIS calculator, worst case 521 billion is 7.7% of federal budget and other end 233 billion is 3.5%.

but yeah when the so called fiscally conservative party are ones are passing a budget that includes $2.5 trillion in deficit spending...it's kind of hard to care about a few hundred billion in fraud as bad as that may be

Lol, so of the options I presented he chose bitch ass pussy, ignore the question, and post something nonresponsive. Remember that they've been told to say that all they’re doing is weeding out fraud waste and abuse caused solely by democrats. They also are told to believe that we sent $50 million of condoms to Gaza and that $6 million was spent “to study magic” when it was actually a grant to a Children’s museum called “The Magic City.” The absolute dumbest of useful idiots.
