I was at the Tennessee game Saturday. That place was packed over an hour before kickoff (half price concessions before 10 certainly helped). AF1 did a fucking flyover, because Idiocracy, and to thunderous applause. Trump was cheered loudly. Not as loudly as when they illegally recovered that onside kick, or a few of those 3rd downs, but he found the right venue Saturday.

Maybe the student section was different, but I couldn't hear any booing from my seats.

I’m just brainstorming here, but do you think that we could sell “voluntary rapture” to evangelicals as a problem solving concept? Maybe including highly poisonous snakes and a woke fighting challenge to their faith?

There is nothing more woke than refusing to engage in a fist fight on a platform above a pit of poisonous snakes. Except for vaccines and antivenom.

Anti-venom is for non-believers. Faith is what separates us. No venom will hurt you, Marcel Reed will be invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony. Stupid sip…

r/LeopardsAteMyFace - Huge supporter of Trump’s war mongering now upset

Wu has stated the transgender movement's efforts to include transgender women in women's sports, which she considers an overreach, have unintentionally helped Republican anti-trans initiatives garner more political support.[42][43] Wu claimed that “lunatic trans activists” were the “biggest obstacle to trans healthcare." She has also used transphobic slurs.[44] In 2025, Wu apologized for suggesting that gender-affirming care to minors be restricted, writing "Trans sisters, I was wrong." Wu further wrote “I genuinely thought that as a trans woman, if [I] ceded some points with the gender critical crowd we could have a healthier conversation and arrive at better public policy,” Wu wrote. “The problem is, they are getting crazier and more extreme... They are incapable of looking for a middle ground on bathrooms. They want maximalist policies on everything.” Wu subsequently responded to a trans journalist who rejected Wu's apology by referring to her as “male-brained.”[45]

. . . and in that speech, he introduced these three patriots as having been tapped to lead the military:

Best Minds'? Hegseth Taps Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and Newt Gingrich to Lead 'Future of Warfare' Project | Common Dreams

Having weapons manufacturers oligarchs be in charge of what weapons get purchased is something the Russian military would have done pre-2022 and thousands of their soldiers lay dead because of it. But I guess we will do it to.

Combined days of military experience - zero.

Fuck, Elon fled South Africa to avoid compulsory service.

The average street lawyer wears a better fitting, better looking suit than the righest man on the planet. Shouldn't our high-T army at least look the part?

You could say a lot about the Nazis, but you couldn't say their fit was weak. Nazi 2.0 is so disappointing.

This is high comedy. I lost it at “high dangerous steeples”

Nobody tell dotard that getting rid of DST would cause less daylight for farmers to play in the evening. And less golf. Let’s face it, this is all to get an extra hour of golf in the evening.

Among many things to question in that TweeX, do farmers REALLY care about Daylight Savings Time? Is resetting a clock going to change crop or livestock behavior? No? Huh.

They do not care at all. I have no idea why farmers get trotted out for the reason we change our clocks. I worked on a farm for awhile. You start when it gets light and end with it gets dark. What the clock says doesn't matter at all.

Anyway given the choice between Daylight Savings Time and Standard time, Standard time is much more preferable. Sure having it be daylight longer in the evening is nice, but it is just far more important to get more light in the morning time. The northern states will have half their work day in darkness if we go to permanent Daylight Savings Time. That is a safety hazard and far more important than whether golf courses can get a few more tee times in.

They don't. In all my summers working on my grandparents' farm, nobody paid attention to clocks because, you know, the animals and crops don't.

Well, they did pay attention when there were appointments to be had, or when Guiding Light was coming on (RIP Grandma).

I recall the children of farmers being a rationale for DST due to the time certain associated with schools being at odds with the day’s lighting of farm chores,

Yeah well most farmers today are old and don't have young children.

Farmer talk reminds me of this exchange from a Barney Miller episode...

  • Webber. Wake up, feed the chickens, milk the cows, get some water, chop wood, plow a few acres.

    Lesco. Then what?

    Webber. Breakfast.

They bought the "worst of the worst" lies from Noem and Trump and the other lying sacks of shit they voted for. They're fine with this:

They all look like rapin' killin' thugs to me.

Looks like these evil gangsters do a lot of procreatin'.

Dangerous looking crowd.

Even when having their own faces eaten, they're happy about the above. Worst of the worst, indeed.

Pity withheld, dickheads.

Yep. And that is the pleasant part of the day. The morning. You get the most done, it is still cool and nice outside. It is physically demanding but kind of mentally relaxing.

You starting thinking "You know what? Farming is actually really nice. Why don't more people want to do this?"

And then when you are baking on that tractor by 3 PM after hours and hours of boring endless slog you want to kill yourself.
