I still have my 1995 F350, paid 15 grand for it back in 2001, which at the time seemed ridiculous. That truck took me across the country and back, I will never sell it.

I typically feel like if I'm gonna blow money, it's gotta be drugs, guitars and good eatin and the women that come along with that.

I sold my 98 3/4 ton two Saturdays ago. We are getting prepped to vacate this fucking state and can't take all these damn cars with us.

And that's the real tragedy, that people literally have to drop meaningful things and make those decisions now. Our new reality

Yep. We took our 16yr old daughter in to get implanted birth control good for 3 years in case they outlaw it. Now we are pulling up stakes as quickly as we can. It's a logistical nightmare(small business owner) but will be worth the move for thuh wimmen folk.

No doubt man.

Moving my family out of Texas a few years ago was one of my best ever decisions.  Miss the food and close family.  That is it.   It was such a beating living under a “Let’s purposely prove that government doesn’t work (but we will still property/sales tax the fuck out of you and blame the libs)  NOW with bonus fundamentalist Taliban social policies regime.

If you don't mind me asking, what state did you land in? Seems like a lot of the folks I know that are moving are going to Colorado

No state will be safe, unfortunately.

Flights to Mexico are going to get expensive AF.

At least WestJet just announced an Austin>Vancouver direct flight for your birth control needs.

Still have my 99 F-150 4x4 in the driveway. Even fixed it up and got it inspected and registered last year for the first time in 10 years, so it’s a legit backup vehicle and not just my hunting-fishing-hauling rig.
Thought of unloading my daily driver and the old truck, and replacing them with a nice new truck.
Then I priced a new 4x4. FUCK THAT.

We moved to VA.

Good place. Reminds me of an English-speaking France for how people live life. Plus being non-native I could pass through the mental force-field that doesn't allow Virginians and Marylanders to visit each other.

Me I always get along great farther NE with the vinigary sassiness of New Englanders, and didn't mind (a few days) of the Winter. Main drawback is getting older and slipping on ice, plus my artist friends there seem to have fewer opportunities than I do in Bama.

Moving to CA almost 20 years seems like a good move.

I miss the BBQ and friends, but moved closer to family, fantastic weather, good food, beaches, mountains, diversity and more options for Asian women to marry.

I ended up in Tustin, because it is spelled almost like Austin (just kidding).

The state income taxes are a beating, not to mention home prices. But at least property taxes are predictable at 1% of my purchase price even though the value of my home has doubled.

It was a good 12 years in Texas, but I don’t have any reason to go back, especially with the shenanigans that are Texas politics.

There are…a lot… of very good looking Asian and Asian mixed race women around Seattle.  Enough to hypothetically change a guy’s browser history.

Only been here three years but by far the best decision I’ve made, financially.  Sold my home in Westlake at the tiptop of the Covid real estate craze.  We were able to buy a lot less house for a little less money and accelerate my retirement schedule quite a bit with in state tuition for one kid (the other is private so fucked on that account either way).  I spend a lot less on vehicles because I barely drive anymore, and as a the silly gas prices don’t affect me directly as much.  Quality of life is so much better I am asking myself why I waited so long, but reality is I couldn’t afford it before.

Baptists and other such types long ago learned to give me some quiet space.

This is a conspiracy that Alex Jones really promotes. What it’s really about is that extending equal rights to women, expanding girls education access, promoting women’s health care, and ending childhood and arranged marriages is guaranteed to cause a birth rate drop.

While I don't follow Alex Jones, I don't believe this is a conspiracy theory. Go back a three generations and I suspect you'll find more children per family. Yes, some of that will be caused by birth control, but in general, women will not want to have 8 babies if they have a career. (And this another reason for birth control.)

If you look at those communities where the wife traditionally stays home to be a mother / home maker, they have more children and time to parent them.

It's ok to want that for their family. I used to tell my wife we were going to have 8 babies. Having two changed my mind. (I never wanted 8, but 4 sounded manageable. Sheeeeeit.)

Bought mine last year. I’m stuck here, just hoping that I’m wrong in thinking this state has fallen into a bottomless pit of depravity. It’s all I’ve got.

Heritage BBQ is 20 minutes from you, and it's better than 95% of the places in Texas.

Walked around my BIL's old 1995 F150.   Simple truck, bench seats, AM/FM radio, stick shift, 2 fuel tanks.   I am 6 ft tall.  The front bumper is about 2 inches above my knee.   The hood is where my belly is, and my head is taller than the truck.   The tailgate is near waist high.   I often walk by trucks in the grocery store where the hood is at my shoulder height.    Sigh.  I kind of hate those things.

Cross Posting. 100% tariff on imports from BRIC Nations.

That includes India. Wonder how the Trump voting Hindi block feels when their spices double. Opening up a nursery and gonna grow my own saffron. Any investors?

I stopped before reading Tustin and said to myself, I bet he’s in Irvine. Read next sentence and chuckled

It’s so tired.

1.) Tariff threat

2.) Country leader visits trump to kiss his ring

3.) Trump looks all powerful and like a king which is what he’s after in the first place

4.) Backroom deal made in which Trump enriches himself or extracts concessions that benefit his friends or himself politically.

5.) Tariffs never happen or are in a name only / at the X% on some good that doesn’t mean a shit so he can say he did what he said he would do.

The guy is just a mob boss through and through

You think you would have caught on much, much sooner.  The whole bully pulpit thing.

I saw saffron at Costco last weekend for 16.50 per gram.  I know it’s expensive but never priced it before to know how that price compares, but does the spice contain the seeds?

Do we have a moving out of Texas thread? It's going to take some time to be in a financial situation for us to do so, but we will have much more flexibility in a few years and are interested in options. Would like a good place to raise kids, outdoor activities nearby and decent diversity. Where would you send us?

It’s not really a bully pulpit when you’re using it for self dealing hurting American interests.
