I'm not left or right, and don't care about "owning" anyone.  I also don't care about "inclusiveness" per se.  I care about fairness and equal opportunity based on merit.  If you are a good person (IE treat others with respect and dignity), I will treat you with respect and dignity regardless of race, class, gender identity, legal status, religion, sexual orientation, etc., but if you want to support Nazis and other fascists hell bent on taking other people's rights then I wouldn't piss on you to put out a fire.

In my opinion, taking the high road goes out the window when dealing with traitorous assholes.  We tried that and look where it got us.

I'm not sure anyone is asking you to take the high road. I'm sure as hell not.

But think about it this way: you have a message you want to convey and a large chunk of your audience will tune you out if you, say, called the assholes fag, kike or spic, or, as you did, by their deadname. What would Sark gain by trying to fire up the troops by rolling in the locker room with a, "listen up n-----s!"

It's more about messaging and persuasion than asking you to be sensitive.

I mean if you want to waste your time and just fill up a post on the board, fine. Just be aware you're not being as effective as you could be.

Similarly, would you roll into a bar and announce, "which one of you cunts wants a painting of Hawaii on their face?"

Yeah, he gave it to Russia by stopping all assistance.

What are you referring to? The halt in US Foreign Assistance is not military sales.

Unless there is another one direct to Ukraine. All I see is it continues. For now.

There's got to be a story behind this.

There's no real story.  Counties govern themselves, and the Constitution prohibits the Legislature from "regulating the affairs of counties, cities, towns, wards or school districts."  Tex. Const. art. III, sec. 56.  So in kinda the same way that Congress cannot have a law that applies only to Alabama, the Constitution does not permit the Legislature to legislate for each individual county.

So the Legislature gets around that through inventive definitions typically tied to population and/or geography.  And yes--they do go in once every ten years and have a housekeeping bill to update those population numbers.  But I don't know whether they're going to have a housekeeping bill to update the name of the Gulf of Mexico.

For my part, I'm not saying shit about it.  Until one day, when it benefits a client.  At some point, I'm definitely filing a summary-judgment motion saying "this law doesn't apply to my client because there ain't no thing as no Gulf of Mexico, you America-hating libtard."

Yeah but calling one black person the N word because you are mad at(not saying this is you) them and them only paints a picture of what kind of person you are to the entire community. That's what I mean when I say take the high road. Hurting the entire trans community to get back at a singular person does nothing to advance humanity at all. Be specific about what you are pissed at someone about otherwise you get tuned out by the whole.

If you're willing to deadname trans people that you deem not worthy, it tells every trans person who sees your deadnaming that their transition and your acceptance of it is conditional.

What if I don't give a shit? At all. Am I allowed to walk through life without shame?

Everyone on this planet who isn't an asshole has my full support, surly excepted.

This is not about name calling.

For example, if a black person votes for the confederacy, I'm not going to lose sleep when he/she is forced into slavery.  When a Latino votes for Trump, I'm fine if he or his family get deported.

There's only so many times I'm willing to warn someone that the stove is hot before I lose interest if they get burned.

I'm not here to conflate the entire trans community with one person, nor am I mad at that person.

They always promised that they were working on it though. The most accepted historiographical position is that Lenin and Stalin were true believers that they would achieve communism in the next century at the latest. It was opportunists like Beria that thought it was a foolish dream, and that private property was the only hope to compete with the US.

Yeah, they were "working on it" like Trump's health care plan, infrastructure deal, and My Pillow Guy's evidence.   Shit even the "two weeks" guys in the Money Pit eventually finished.

Be interesting to see if the same EO applies to my sibling’s offer with ICE.

I asked my fed wife if it does; the EO excludes (paraphrasing) "positions of public safety" from the hiring freeze.  So...yeah.

Her agency had a really nice gig in Houston that she had been strongly encouraged to apply for; we talked about it last week, and I told her that it might not be available after the 20th.   Her agency had mulled this possibility over, and their counsel felt that as long as the job was listed/made available prior to the 20th, then it would still be open after a potential EO for a hiring freeze, as in past hiring freezes.

Nope. The EO shut down any opening (and as we saw upthread, job offers as well) nation-wide, except for "public safety".

Our already struggling VA system is going to be in a world of hurt.

Well, to a certain extent I agree with you.  But, you have to acknowledge that Jenner is trans, among other things.  Just because she's a piece of shit doesn't mean you can show disrespect to her transness, without showing disrespect to all trans.

I detest Candace Owen, but I'm not about to start calling her a hard r for that very reason.

I was not aware that the deadname was such a mortal thing, although it makes sense with slight reflection.  So I could have made that mistake.  I rely on troph and safe sex to keep me on the straight and narrow on such matters, and my group of gay friends..

I can appreciate that, but IMO, reverting to someone's given name as opposed to their preferred name and calling someone the N word isn't in the same ballpark.

If someone were to say that Jenner should be called the "T" word, then that would an apt comparison.

That's not what's happening in this case.  Jenner's voting and vocal support of the anti-trans movement has voided the respect required to be called by a preferred name.  Just as I might call some other fascist asshole Dick even though I know they want to by Richard.

I don't have the energy, nor the desire to cater to fascist fee-fees
