Funding to combat\counter disinformation.  It is clear we have lost the information war.  We brought a knife to a gun fight and lost.  When you look at what Tim Poole, Candaice Owens etc put out, the videos are polished and professional looking.  They sound plausible. These creators have a team of editors, researchers, cameramen and writers.  They can produce multiple videos a day that look great and sound plausible.  They get large pay and support staff.  Our content creators have to rely on monetization and have to do all the work themselves.  They'll never be able to keep up.

PraegerU is brilliant.  It's evil, but brilliant.  People have short attention spans these days. They create short videos with great graphics that are easy to understand and follow.  They promote bullshit, but that's not the point.  The format and concept are brilliant.

We have lost multiple generations of people, young men in particular, to extremely well funded propaganda.  It may be really hard to win them back.  The Russian money and conservative money are literally killing our country.  Russian propaganda has been frighteningly effective.  Conservative people cheer at the mention of Putin or Orban.  They've been convinced we're not even a democracy.  They have been successfully turned against some of the most important tenets of western democracy.   Their misinformation has made it to the halls of Congress.  Russia got a president elected twice.  My god, that's the most effective propaganda campaign in the history of the world.

We need to fund our own counter campaign. We are getting slaughtered in the information wars.  If we can't respond to this fast, I fear we will never recover.

Remind me which is those willingly paid out three-quarters of a billion dollars to settle a case about knowingly lying because they knew the final verdict would have been even worse.

You may not like them because they're mean to you, but they're at least loosely bound by what they can and cannot say. Nothing from the right's information sphere shares those concerns.

And, complained quietly about not having access to Biden.

That's not where the war is being waged.  Most media is now conservative owned anyway.  Billionaires have been buying them up.

Trump has sued MSM a dozen times since his election and lost every time.  Under the same rules applied to Fox.

They weren't even quiet with their complaints and it was a media-led campaign that forced Biden out of the race.

The difference is that those media outlets report fact-based news tinged with bias. On the other hand, conservative outlets, like Fox, report things that actually didn't happen.  There is no tinge of bias; a huge percentage of it is just outright lies.  It's not a matter of both groups believing bullshit.  It's a matter of one group is mostly tethered to the truth and the other isn't restrained from any farfetched lie.

CNN also settled.  WaPo also settled.

The mass media sucks.  They had half the country believing Kyle Rittenhouse killed 3 black protesters, the Covid mortality rate was 30%, and that cops kill "thousands of unarmed black people a year.  The most recent is those disingenuous cunts parroting that Trump was calling for the execution of Liz Cheney.  There is plenty of disinformation from the mass media and that's why Elon being red pilled and buying Twitter was massive.

It's a counterbalance.  Those that benefitted from holding a monopoly for all these years really hate it when the monopoly gets busted up and the playing ground gets levelled.  Similar to bag dropping schools bitching about NIL.

This sums it up:

r/WhitePeopleTwitter - GenZ is brain rotted

You don't have to bring everyone back to reality.  You just need to win enough back to win elections, assuming we still have real elections in the future.  A lot of people who voted for Trump didn't like him. His favorability was lower than Harris's.  People are struggling to survive and they voted because they remember things being cheaper when Trump was in office.  That's true, but clearly outside of Biden's control.  Trump left office before all Trump's inflationary actions hit home.  Now he gets the economy, mostly fixed again.  FFS

We just had the right wing ecosystem create a story out of thin air about legal immigrants stealing people's pets and eating them that made it's way to the Presidential debate. And you want to talk to me about balance and leveling. That's adorable.

Someone brought up something on twitter the other day that I thought was interesting:

The reason the radical right has all of their online echo chambers on lock is because they are being funded by the tech bros. The tech bros like the radical right because, well, tax breaks and more money for them.

Dems don’t have anyone like that who is willing to fund/prop them up on the platforms. They have to rely mostly on crowdsourcing. That isn’t going to make a dent in the radical right wing echo chamber.

You’ve missed the story. Culpability should be attributed to Dem arrogance and persistent displays of moral superiority. And I believe Dems were morally superior and for the first time ever, in the two biggest elections voted that way.

But talk of misinformation being the primary culprit totally misses the point. Doubling down on arrogance won’t get anyone far.

Russia dropping 10s of millions of dollars for the content of their choice had nothing to do with it, I'm sure.  Tim Poole went from making like $500 a week to $300k a month with Russian money.  FFS, we are under literal Russian attack.

The dems need to take an election or 2 off from saving the world. The people currently struggling don’t really care about Taiwan, Ukraine, or birthing people. They care about Christmas, which for a lot of people sucked the last couple of years. They care about taking their kids to an amusement park or signing them up for youth sports at a couple of hundred a pop each season. Leopards are already eating faces and have been for a couple of years. The people that somehow can’t ever see that also didn’t see Kamala losing.

Another couple examples: what percentage Americans know Kamala Harris failed the bar exam the first time she attempted it?  If they were GOP candidates, that shit would be a weekly skit on SNL and repeated ad nauseum.

As someone who attended a good law school and passed the bar with ease, this cannot be overstated. To pass the bar, you just have to put in the work and have half a brain. She either wasn’t willing to work hard or doesn’t have half a brain, or in her case more likely both. 82% of her class at her mediocre law school passed when she failed. So she was in the bottom 18% of a mediocre school. Not really what you’re looking for in a candidate for president.

Hillary Clinton also failed the bar first time.  No one knows that either.  The media in this country is corrupt and has been cheerleading the left for a couple generations now, putting their thumb on the scale of our elections.  I do love the bitching about X and Musk now that the Big Tech monopoly is gone.

I’ll research it after my flight, but there was someone did a focus group on dem policies and they worded it in a way to make it seem like they were policies coming from the radical republican party. Those in the group loved the policies and were really excited about them. The whole time, thy were policies the Dems were proposing or were already doing.

This is 100% a misinformation/disinformation election.

There was a study done this year, I forgot the name. They presented Harris and Trump's policies without telling the people in the study whose policy it was.  Conservatives liked Harris policies much more than Trump's when presented anonymously.

No one gives a shit who passes and fails the bar exam. It's a tired ritual that serves no practical purpose. You should know this. You have to deal with lawyers who passed the bar.

The absolute saddest part of all is that Joe Rogan is not that bad, yes I get he says crazy stupid shit, but he corrected Trump 3 times about Kamala not showing up, and actually praised her debate performance. Do you think she gets that treatment from Sean Hannity? who we tolerated for decades?

Part of getting an influencer for young men is getting off our high horse, our purity culture, and doing Joe Rogan interviews. We are fucked if we keep being the high horse, only the purest of characters allowed. Tim Waltz is never going to be that guy feminists, he needs the edge.

Also bring back Al Franken my fucking god I swear we decapitated him only to get a woman senator appointed in his place, identity politics is evil because it hurts us as a party.
