Elon will flame out of this admin. Two narcissists in too close of an orbit. Vivek and Vance have political potential though.

This whole concept of "appointing loyalists" is probably doomed to one degree or another.  Trump's narcissism is so mercurial, I'm not sure there's much of anyone with the megalomania to want one of these positions to satisfy Trump's loyalty tests over any significant period of time.  The whole thing is so "I'm gonna get mine" that I think it's unsustainable.

On the other hand, fascist governments LOVE to appoint loyalists over competence. So at least whenever things start to go pear shaped, it'll keep going. At least, that's how it's worked out for every other fascist government before this one

Hmm, where else did this happen?  Sometime around the last 85 years or so?  I just can’t place it.

Getting all the generals aligned around the same set of grievances and in support of Dear Leader is the first step to doing BIGLY things

I think that's probably right. I did see that DOGE is time constrained. And speaking of DOGE, what a world.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/13/dogecoin-surges-20percent-after-trump-announces-a-department-of-government-efficiency-doge.html

Dogecoin spiked after President-elect Donald Trump formally announced the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency.

The memecoin has been one of the biggest winners in the postelection rally, gaining more than 150% since Election Day compared with bitcoin’s 30% rise in the same period.

Trump initially floated the idea of an efficiency commission in September.

Some hilarious options for White House Press Secretary: Kari Lake, Laura Loomer, Alina Habba, Scott Jennings and Steven Cheung. Each one with an equally awful personality for it, who will only be combative with reporters every day. Can't wait to see all the other shitbirds this guy picks!

The Rubio pick creates an interesting situation, because Meatball Ron gets to choose his replacement. Since Ron is on his way out as he's term limited at the Gov position, he could appoint himself to the seat and give up his current role. But he would have to run again in 2026 to secure the last 2 years of the senate term, then again in 2028 to get 6 more years, but he would probably shoot for the R nomination for President at that point. Those 2026 midterms are gonna be a shitshow for Republicans after 2 years of Trump bullshit, I anticipate a significant shift and snapback from 2024. Adding another Senate seat to the mix, even in Florida, might not be a great idea for Rs. 2018 was the year the Dems picked up 40 seats in the house, Rick Scott narrowly won his Florida seat and Ted Cruz nearly lost to Beto.

Not to rehash Election Day lead up and day of thread, but remove Florida from any state wide dem prospects. It’s dead red.

Huh fun fact about the incoming SecDef - he was removed from Biden's inauguration protection detail due to having extremist posts and a crusader cross tatoo

Also I learned reading up on him, his first billet was at Guantanamo Bay via National Guard. Jeeeeeezus.

Hegseth has been running grifting PACs and on Fox News, his concern is keeping Woke out of the military.  He achieved the rank of major, his service can in no way be impugned but he is no more qualified than any other former 04 to run the DoD.  Things are going to get stupid so fast, usually the DoD is the last  domino to get treated like this.

Toonces look out! @Chad Fuck

I'd say a cabinet position trumps senator in the game of monopoly.

Until Trump decides you need to go for just about any reason.   And Rubio doesn't even have to do anything wrong.  People will just plant ideas in Trump's head that Rubio is unfaithful, and he's out.  Most of these cabinet positions probably won't last a year, except for Miller.  Then Rubio doesn't have a Senate seat or a cabinet position.

I was kind of hoping Trump would take Paxton off our hands, but like some of you said, Trump can deal with ugly, but not wonky or disabled.

What makes you excited about the appointments? I'm worried about all the agencies and important oversight that's gonna be going away, not to mention that enforcement for laws that trump disagrees with is going to stop completely

Wait until he tests sued for dispensing pharmaceuticals when the lack of oversight causes his clients to get sick. That half-step above won’t save him.

Dumb question amnesty is SoS a better gig than senator?

You get a plane and a bigger advance detail/pomp when traveling than anyone except POTUS/VPOTUS.  You’re more important while in the office than one of 100 senators.

It likely is a handicap for future oval and high-level positions because the electorate does not value foreign policy; you’ll be a punching bag and the best case scenario is being relatively invisible.  No one leaves with accolades anymore.

President-elect Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Alina Habba, told Fox News she “would think about it very seriously” if asked by Trump to serve as his White House press secretary.

During his show on Tuesday evening, Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Habba about Mediaite’s exclusive report from Diana Falzone, which stated that the former Trump lawyer had emerged as a clear frontrunner for the role of press secretary.

“Let’s talk about the possibility and reports that you might be the president’s press secretary. Any truth to it?” asked Hannity.

Habba replied, “I leave it to the president and three people that are on my board of directors. That’s Luke, Chloe, and Parker, my children. Everybody will know in time.”

“Alright, now I gotta go in a little harder,” pressed Hannity. “Have there been any discussions about it?”

Habba dodged the question, responding:

Sean, you know me better than that. You would never have me on prime time if I answered questions like that. Look, President Trump has put together an amazing cabinet. I’m really proud of the work that him and his transition team have done. I think when we look at everybody, they are killing it on all fronts. America is excited for frankly– sorry to use Mrs Walz’s term, but turn a page. It’s time to turn the page. It’s time to have advocacy for America First and whatever that looks like for President Trump and his team, I trust it. It’s a decision for all of them to make, not me.

Hannity then pressed Habba one last time.

“Alright, serious question. If you were asked to serve in that role or any other role, would you?” he questioned, to which Habba replied, “I am very loyal to President Trump. I would think about it very seriously.”
