Roll into Walgreens and get the shot.  1st shot has 93% efficacy.  Second shot gets you to 97% 28 days later.  No time like the present.

/edit to add: make an appointment online to make it as short of an experience as possible.

If you just want to check your immunity, any drug store with a "minute clinic" can draw your blood and order a titer.  That'll tell you if your previous vaccine is still good.

Can any walk-in clinic do that?

Yes, most of them can.  It may get "sent off" but in Austin that will likely be CPL, which is in town.  Quest/Labcorp send to Dallas, so you're looking at a 1 day TAT max.  I think with insurance it was less than $10.  Do it.

When I get my semi-annual blood test I’ll add it to the list.

So how much of this is normal annual stuff that we are just being hyper aware of?

I think there are a handful of bubonic plague cases every year that warrant little coverage because it’s treatable now.  And for some reason, people tend to accept treatments without questioning safety profiles- so far.

Heard immunity is a weird thing. For measles, greater than 95% vaccination in a society is pretty much like eradicating the disease. Drop below 90, and you’re pretty much fucked. Guess which way we are headed?

When was the last time you heard an official having to warn against measles parties, because that is what the health officials were talking about in Lubbock last week.

Texas failed state thread has a link from a news station showing all school districts and private or charter schools in Texas with vax rates for MMR - from 14% to 100% and easily 75-80% are below 95%. It’s total fucking bullshit.

Well, they're used to sharing diseases in Lubbock. It's kinda their thing.
